Man, Squenix is good at rehashing stuff eh? This is the same music/art/etc. they've been using for years for mobile and spinoff Tactics games, like Crystal Defends and Vanguard Storm.

Remember when you used to care about all things Final Fantasy?
Yeah, me neither... I know I had that feeling at some point.
Those memories are just a foggy blur now. That's all that's left.

9 person grid Ogre Battle game sounds pretty awesome. People need to stop complaining. Ogre Battle series > FFT series. The only decent FFT game was the first. The hand held version have all been below par.

Just read the impressions....Even I can't get excited for this game.

The problem here is it's a Mobage game.

It's like getting a city manager on Facebook.

I mean yes, at a high level Facebook citybuilders look like SimCity, but in practice it's not where near as good.

After it was announced the Bravely Default was being localised this year, all I wanted from Square-Enix was a Final Fantasy Tactics A3. What has happened to Square Enix?

Dat onion knight.

Just make FFTA3DS. THE THREE IS ALREADY THERE IT'S SO EASY.

Don't beat me, but I wouldn't mind a new FFT series moving away from Ivalice. There's a lot they can do with the franchise and a new setting could help.

FFTA2 is really great in all ways except the story, honestly. The gameplay itself is better than FFT's.

I like you. You know your stuff. I put a ridiculous amount of time into A2. One of the very, very few games I've put a hundred hours into with a single playthrough and I loved every minute of it. Almost.

FFTA3(DS)

Please, Square. It's right there in the name. So easy.

Pls.

;____;

If we're getting this shitty smartphone game instead of this years Tactics Advance game, I'm going to freak out and murder someone.

As someone who liked Tactics Advance and loved FFTA2/Tactics Ogre, this is kind of gross. Well, almost the entire mobile market is kind of gross, but something blatantly exploitative like this is even more so.
Did they bother with any new assets?

I have below 0 confidence that Square-Enix as a company right now can pull off a game like Final Fantasy Tactics again. Every Final Fantasy Tactics game after the original sucked really hard, too. Generally, everything Square made over the last 6 years sucked really, really hard :( Even the Final Fantasy Tactics ports (!) were a disaster. So yeah, Square, don't touch this shit anymore, you're not worthy of it.

I laughed when I saw Mobage pop up at the end of the trailer. Then I died a little on the inside.

I love all the FF Tactics games though. WotL was awesome, spent a lot of time with A2 and now I'm playing Advance. SE why are you ruining this.

No way. The PSP port of FFT was incredible and improved upon the original in every way. I didn't even notice the slowdown until someone pointed it out, and even then there's that patch if you're that picky.

Gawd. Is Crimson Shroud any good? I'd rather give Matsuno a few bucks.

I like it. Battles take forever though. Has that awesome Matsuno atmosphere.

I don't know how you could not notice the slowdown. I guess if you just never ever used magic. Or fought an enemy that used magic.

Calculators/Mathematicians take so long to attack that my PSP's screen used to shut off.

This sucks... I love the music... Always liked it in A2.. But this is sad. Not what I expected. It looks like the "All The Bravest" game. Not much to go off of that video, but it isn't the FFT I know and love.

So it's more Ogre Battle than Tactics Ogre eh? Weird. Looks cute though!

very interesting. I liked ogre battle, though that game is not player friendly at all. lots of obscure stats, systems, etc. a more player friendly game might be worthwhile.

edit oh God this is a mobage game. waste of time confirmed

I dunno about the PSP version, but I would say that the FFT iPad port is the definitive version, especially after this graphical update gets out. Sometimes hitting the exact spot you want is a little wonky because you're using your finger instead of a d-pad to navigate, but other than that it's pretty brilliant (although I do actually prefer a lot of the original translation).

So, going back to the original issue, SE has done at least one thing right in the last 6 years. Probably somewhere between 1 and 3 good things over the past 6 years. So, not a great track record, but it's something.

I wonder if the game originally started out as a new Ogre Battle game. It's been almost a year since Square Enix renewed the copyright on the Ogre Battle name. Maybe they decided at some point that it would sell better with the Final Fantasy Tactics name instead of Ogre Battle.
