Call me jaded, but if it's nothing but shooters and Western-developed third party multiplatform games, that'd be pretty damn disappointing in my book. I'm pretty much counting on some kind of DRM announcement, even if it's not as bad as MS'.

Lol, considering Sony's showing at the reveal in Feb I think you'll be okay :)

KZ - FPS shooter
Infamous - third person open world
Knack - action platformer
DriveClub - racing
The Witness - Indie puzzle

They've got variety down pat.

My only fear is that they will spend time on software that we have already seen.
I do not want to see the games from the last conference, unless it is in passing in a montage.
Bring me more.
Microsoft will in theory be bringing it, so do not waste my time with Killzone again, or Infamous or Knack or Drive club.

And yet no RPGs. Sony is the only console manufacturer with no first-party RPG franchise (WRPG or JRPG), and it's a massive hole in their lineup. Currently, the only presently-announced PS4 games I'm interested in are inFamous 3 and The Witcher 3.

Not to mention Capcom, and SE were at their presser. This E3 will be one to remember.

Honestly we haven't seen anything from those games except Killzone. I'm not opposed to seeing gameplay demos at all.

Fine with me too but the industry better be content with slow adoption rates.

Exactly. I think 500 is way too high. It's too close to $600. and with all these games being released on the next gen systems no one will have money to buy them.

$450 at the highest, but I realistically want $400

if history is anything to go by
u'll probably see most of them the week prior to the conference
GT6 is gonna eat up a huge chunk of their time though :/

If they are getting Final Fantasy exclusive, do they need their first party to make an RPG? I say play to your strengths.

127 pages over here for Sony as compared to the measly 5 over there.

We're really validating the whole GAF=Sonyland theory right here lol.

I'm pretty fucking hyped myself for what Sony has to offer for E3. Especially from the Japanese devs.
This thread has been going for a lot longer as well.

don't worry, Guerilla apparently has an RPG in the works, Versus is coming, and there are the other stuff like Dragon Age, Lords of the Fallen, Deep Down, etc.

$399 kinda makes it feel too cheap in terms of quality in my opinion for something next gen >_> I mean, PS3 was $599 but their production cost per unit on it was over $800, so the hardware was worth it.

If this gen has taught me anything, it's that third parties can't be trusted, especially where Sony is concerned. So yes, they do need an RPG franchise, if only to complete their portfolio. They have enough shooters and games that resemble shooters.

$500 is going to put alot of people off. I think the sweet spot is $400. I'm buying this day one no doubt, but $500 would have me second guessing.

They have Killzone. That's the only shooter that was at the reveal lol. And even then Shadow Fall is more unique than most.

They need to launch at $399 or less. That is the only way they can get adoption rates back to PS2 like levels by the end of the generation. A huge part that helped that system is the drop to $199 and below fairly quickly. PS3 being so expensive out of the gate for so long has hurt adoption quite a bit. At this point it basically becomes a game of chicken though between MS and Sony of who will announce price first. Whoever announced second has a huge advantage in the ability to price cut the other and come in cheaper. With the arrogance of MS lately though I wouldn't be surprised if they do come in more expensive anyway and just think people will take it.

Yes because FF sucks nowadays.

Hmm..But I don't know if any of their first party would be good at making RPG.

Yeah but you'd think it would bump way more than 5 pages after May 21st >_>

That's what happens when your fans are defending Cloud and DRM and No used games. We on the other hand get to over-hype the shit out of this.

Why would $399 "feel" too cheap in terms of "quality"? It's not like they're launching at $299 here and the PS4 doesn't have a BOM anywhere near $800.

$399 is clearly the sweet spot if they want to get the mass market to start adopting quickly which should be their goal, if they are willing to take a bit of a loss (we're basically dealing with all off-the-shelf stuff this generation without the massive R&D that the PS3 required), $399 would be the price to go, not $500 as some people for some odd reason really want Sony to price the PS4, not sure why some people are wishing Sony would price themselves out of the market.

There is no Insomniac exclusive. That is all

RFOM Insomniac that would be sad, FUSE Insomniac not so much.

I can see why $500 may seem steep, but honestly I think Sony has enough impressive software this time for launch to make it worthwhile. The awesome hardware is a bonus too.

It's a missed opportunity too, since Sony has several RPGs under its belt like Wild ARMs and Legend of Dragoon. While they're not as big as Final Fantasy, they would still be welcomed with open arms, especially among their existing fan bases. Legend of Dragoon fans have been clamoring for a sequel for years now.

I'm just talking about Sony's first party stable in general...I'm sure we're going to see a new Uncharted this gen, for example, and probably at least one or two more shooter franchises out of them before the PS4 is gone. And that's not even counting revivals of other franchises.

Sony has never had an RPG series to be proud of since they killed Wild ARMs and Dark Cloud. It'd be really wise of them to bring a new one to the table. And until I see confirmation that Guerrilla's next-gen IP is an RPG, I have to treat them as if they don't have any.

Oh no, the loyal Xbones left GAF during harsh times (last week) for greener (safer) pastures and are now slowly coming back. Besides that some of them had meltdowns and got banned.

It would have been the same if the situation was flipped on Sony GAF.

And yeah, Sony needs to make a WRPG. That genre has grown a lot since 2006 and that is a hole in their lineup.

That being said, Deep Down is supposedly PS4 exclusive.

I think its going to be dependent on the hard-drive size, inclusiveness of a camera or not, and maybe some other minor media ports. So perhaps we get a $399 model, and a $499 model. That's what I'm hoping for. I also think its important they don't sell at too much of a loss.

*Raises hand*

Right here, buddy. Where do I sign up for a sequel?

Still remember getting those 50 Stardust to take down Magician Faust. Also remember trying to get Shana and Lavitz to Dragoon Level 5 before
she left the party for good and got replaced by Miranda and he expired
. I don't think you were even supposed to, but they actually coded in VAs for those additions. The FMVs were also rather state of the art the time of release, they were actually full voiced, which were something even Square didn't do until FFX on the PS2.

Good times, good times.

Can you imagine what a Sony Santa Monica-backed RPG would look like on the PS4? It would be jaw-dropping.

Regarding Deep Down...we'll see. Capcom in particular is not exactly loyal to Sony; I'm sure they have an XBONE version in production as well.

Verendus already said LoD2 was planned then canceled lol.

I didn't like the first to be honest... :(

Duh!? Considering the games you have just cited are launch titles, you bet they are going to waste time with them.

Deep Down is still a JRPG though. I agree it would be cool to have a first party WRPG, but I haven't exactly been left wanting with Sony games the past few years. Demons Souls' was huge for me.

Wild arms will forever now become a handheld game. Legend of Dragoon. who are the original devs. Are they even around.

Level 5 should consider bringing back dark cloud. actually they should consider making a game akin to Rogue Galaxy. This is a really good opportunity to make a game like WKC target render happen with the power of Cell8 GDDR5 of ram and the infinite power of the clouds to back them up. and lol.

There was a distinct lack of games at the reveal and followed by the outrage threads all the energy was sucked up. Come E3 all will be well again.

I really hope this multiple SKU stuff goes away next gen. The only thing I liked about the X1 reveal was that it seemed to point to a single SKU.

Lol, it would not be a waste at all to give us gameplay walkthroughs of Infamous, Knack, and DriveClub. same with Destiny, we "saw" it at the reveal but this time they're giving us a legit look at it, and I'm curious to see it :)
