Man... doesn't Don realise how bad word of mouth for the Xbone is right now?

Surely they'd be trying to smooth things out not make things worse.

Anyway for by gamers by gamers yeah right, after reverencing such a negative reaction from gamers and the media this is such a stupid thing to say.

I like how he just does not give a flying fuck about people protecting his country.

Someone spends weeks at a time in a cramped space in a nuclear submarine, protecting his country, and he just like "lolololol, get a 360!!"

Nice.

The difference between sony in the ps3 era and ms now is thay Sony was king of the industry with the ps2, MS is thrid already.

So if they fail to the extent of Sony (half the sales of previous console) they will prob call it quits.

Wait what, sales dont matter because sales? they are third place on pure sales numbers, money made isnt the same or i would guess nintendo would be even further in the lead. Hes right they are acting like sony did coming off curb stomping xbox err 1 and gamecube.

The bit about Sony being arrogant coming off a massive market-share lead is accurate.

But the idea that Microsoft is arrogant from third place? They're third place by a whisker in a sense that doesn't reflect the reality of their business. They were more profitable than Sony and have the market-share in the region they care about more than every other one combined.

It's really not hard to see why the Xbox 360 was a success for them.

Mattrick: "Xbox has been created by gamers for gamers.

Yes, gamers suggested that you don't do DRM and AlwaysOn and mandatory Kinect and ridiculous pricepoint and you did it!
Oh, wait...

PS: I thought Doritos Pope did very good interviews most of the time. Espeically the one with Reggie was good, but Reggie was full of shit.

Needs to be said. Geoff was on form.

but in no way, shape or form do I think MS should have held back for another generation to make this switch.

I think the time is right to move in this direction.

Not even the fact that broadband penetration is only 60-something percent in the US and close to half of the 360's ever sold have never been connected to the internet?

Yeah, seems like a great move. /sarcasm.

Also, fuck Don Mattrick. /not sarcasm.

Nice.

Microsoft are a multinational corporation. Of course they don't care about the USA or its troops. I'm pretty sure that Sony and Nintendo didn't design their console around troops in nuclear submarines either.

What's with these companies and their arrogance? What makes them stop giving a fuck so much?

Sony with the PS3.
MS with the X1.

Why do they repeat the same recipes for disaster? MS can still make bad business decisions and still have good PR. What is the machine doing? Why did Sony do it? Why didn't MS learn?

Seriously, for the sake of argument let's say okay, the 360 is a viable option nowadays.

What are the exclusives you're gonna provide for us gamers? What have we got so far? GoW: Judgement. Last year was all about Kinect. Now look at this year's exclusives for the PS3.

Now what's your PR BS of an excuse Mattrick? I'm curious.

Microsoft communication is a disaster, first and foremost because there's no way to spin their practices in a positive light.

I can imagine he'd say "Fortunately, we have an amazing, rich library of hundreds of incredible games available to you when you buy on Xbox 360 etc..."

Watched this and laughed when he said it, unbelievable arrogance.

Number of 360s sold - number of 360s used online = number of existing potential customers they are giving the finger to. What idiots.

You know, I've heard the argument "when was the last time your internet was out for 24 hours?". I've been thinking this through, and I realized this.

Imagine you're playing The Last of Us. You didn't get to play it yesterday, since it was such a nice day and you went BBQ'ing in the park. I know, I know. Why the hell would you do that when you have TLOU? But, some friends were whining and you gave in, and now you're done at work, and hells yeah, you're going home to play!

You sit down, you got a pizza and soda, it's gonna be an awesome session. "Could not connect to the internet. Your game could not be verified". Sure, your internet's only been down for an hour, but you can't play for the remaining time it's down.

I was contemplating making up a further bizarre scenario where your phone's dead, too. I don't know, it's just such a useless system. And you don't need to have the internet gone for 24 hours straight to be affected.

What am I looking at?

Virtualization. Those are all virtual servers all powered on ESX servers.

So you can say you have 300K servers in the environment. Say 10K physical servers but each physical server running 30 virtual servers each inside them. Something like that :)
