Final Fantasy XV Gameplay Analysis [GIF Heavy]

Really? Trailer 1 is mostly set in Tenebrae (the venice city) and 2 in Lucis.

The person I quoted was talking about the gameplay trailer, which is completely in Lucis, except that one scene. We don't know the name of the Venice like city yet.

I wonder if there will be a part where we control child Noctis.
Maybe. I remember in a previous trailer there was a scene where you see Noctis' father from Noctis' point of view. It could be a flash back sequence or something, but, I guess, it may not be interactive.

Is this CG or in game, I wonder if in game will have the same design. The design looks amazing, swimming or taking a boat to different areas.

I'm sure that's CG. I don't think anyone can show any comparable, real-time landscape in any other game similar to this.

Yeah, I initially thought it was real time, because there was so much shimmering, but it seems like it is problem with the encoding of that scene in some of the videos. No shimmering in gamersyde video = CG.

Can you or someone who got it already try putting it on speedy.sh or putlocker.com?

This SO MUCH... the damn site doesn't let me download the videos :(

Am I the only one that thinks that things move a little too fast in this game? I mean final fantasy is still supposed to be an (a)rpg and not a competitor to DmC, or am I wrong?

Footage looks amazing though. Especially the steam punk'esque setting gives me the chills, wonderful.

Maybe Kagari could pass along the videos to Blim and then other people could see them. Would that be possible? I have already checked it, but might be a solution for other folks.

I think that's just the Leviathan attacking the city with its own magic/water, you guys are reading too far into it. Noctis isn't using the one causing that water to show up.

None of us said it was Noctis using it, the point is that Leviathan is this big ass monster in game which is darting around the scenery in that flurry of water and causing all kinds of havoc - chances are once you defeat it then that spurt of water might be how Noctis uses it in battle, because he's obviously not going to summon this creature which is big enough to fill a town.

It would be nice if it came for the super attacks though. Bring back the massive summon attacks please.

That minimap picture is blowing my mind. If this game really has sprawling GTA-like cities and an open world and then these graphics are kind of unbelievable.

There's a bit near the end of the gameplay trailer where it has Prompto getting into cover; the camera appears to be following him as if he's a player character. Does this mean we'll get to play as other party members, or is just for the benefit of the trailer? I couldn't quite discern what that implied.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't there a scene in the 2011 trailer where it seemed Prompto was playable? One of the in-engine scenes like with a turret sequence?

Unless Nomura changed the game design from versus to XV, all the party members should be playable.

The trailer has renewed my interest in this game. I was losing hope, I thought it was dead. I'm quite glad that it has become XV, it is now totally seperate from XIII which makes me happy. Not that I dislike XIII, i've just had enough, compare the trailers for XV and Lightning Returns, it's like night and day. XV looks so good, the story seems to make some sort of sense, whereas Lightning Returns is full of gibberish. Colour me excited for this game!

This is why I think attack and warp are different buttons.

He probably warps a little bit during aerial attacks automatically, and at the end of a combo or something, but otherwise they are separate.

I think they are the same button. The way it would work is if you are locked on to an enemy that is outside your reach, and press attack, instead of swinging the blade, he is will just warp like he does in the gif to get closer to the enemy.

Yeah, that's another possibility. I guess we can keep an eye out in the future for any attacks he does with his weapon while being too far away from the enemy to connect.

You can play as other party members - can switch between them on the fly.
That's what Nomura said in an interview a long time ago, seen nothing to suggest otherwise!

Yes, we can play as characters other than Noctis. Since the HUD wasn't really working, we don't see what it would look like when controlling Prompto like in the image below.

Thanks for the uploads!

I hope we get a chance to see gameplay of character switching the next time they show off the game in order to see how they control differently then Noctis as well as what special abilities they may have. I think Prompto's was supposed to be the ability to target weak points on an enemies body. Things like that really do give the possibility for tactical situations to emerge, especially with bosses.

There seems to be some confusion on the Agni's Philosophy tech demo. It is representative of cutscene graphics, not gameplay graphics. I've seen a bunch of people whining about XV in that respect for whatever reason...

Anybody notice this?

the icon on the left seems to indicate a weaponshop.

the other looks like a monster so perhaps a monster hunt objectif perhaps ?

i also noticed on the lower right what looks like the world map
might mean open overhead world or just an aestethic.

Yeah, the icons are your other party members it seems, though they seem a fair ways off from you.

Oh, I actually was under the impression it was what gameplay could actually look like so that is good to know.
