Ah, yes. Owning is definitely preferable, especially when you come to the unfortunate realization that renting is basically just pissing money away.

Looks sweet from that shot, but yeah, need more pictures. I'll reiterate that I really think you should try and get a place with a separate room you can use as a home office, though.

More pictures posted (edited my last post). I have no need for a dining room (especially when I get some cool patio furniture and bar stools), so I would have the office where you see the desk in that current picture.

What do you guys think? It's a bit of weird perspective shot but that living room area (where my tv would go) is as big as this wall. So it would be same setup with the tv mounted on the wall and white cabinet with speakers.

Personally I would prefer to have a view out of the windows to enjoy the skyline when lounging on the couch.

Is Dark Souls really that good?

You got to like it to appreciate it. Watch some impressions first.

I spent like $160 on getting Demon Souls (2 copies) imported. Then I bought Dark Souls on launch and when it launched for PC. So I think so. Just don't watch videos on bosses.

I just got my first place too. Some of these places have given me some wonderful ideas. I really like the setups.

I paid good money for this Dynex!

Looks pretty rad. My lone concern is whether or not there's enough space for a decently sized TV and speakers in that designated TV area, but that's it. Apart from that, the place looks goddamn fire.

Oh god, i'll be moving to another city in the coming months for med school, and i'll probably have to make do living in a shoebox-size apartment again for a couple of years.

I'm loving this thread though, some of the setups in here are amazing inspiration.

My new setup. Finally have all my console stuff in the same room

I like you. Nice set of consoles...though I'd take them off the floor if I were you. They can get a lot of dust that way. :(

Anyway, I got a TurboGrafx-16 and Commodore 64 since I last posted anything, so here I go again:

I don't have a proper place for the Commodore 64 yet, so I've been keeping it in its box when I'm not using it. Everything else is always hooked up and ready to go at a moment's notice, though.

If anyone is curious as to what kind of cables I'm using...

RF: NES (top-loading), Master System, Atari 7800, TurboGrafx-16, Commodore 64
Composite: Sega Genesis/CD/32X combo
S-Video: SNES, N64, GameCube, Saturn, Dreamcast, Wii
Component: PlayStation 2, Xbox, Xbox 360

The two Xbox's also use an optical digital audio cable for 5.1 Dolby Digital audio. I also sometimes use it on the PlayStation 2 if a game features Dolby Digital or DTS...so, mainly just the SSX games.
I'm also using two separate system selectors in order to have everything connected at once. The Genesis and the RF stuff are hooked up directly to the TV, and the audio from the TV is going out to the sound system. I never use the TV speakers.

As I posted before, I also have a Wii U and PlayStation 3 hooked up via HDMI to an HDTV and a 1000 Watt 5.1 system in another room.

And if you wanna see all of my console together...

And if anyone is wondering why there's a mirror behind my TV...well, I just couldn't move it. It ended up being useful for checking the cables, anyway. Hah.

Really impressive set ups in here.

Here is my work in progress: 47' LG LM8600, Ikea Stand, PS3 on bottom left, 360 on bottom right

nice, I have a similar stand/unit that can barely holy my 42 inch tv....and has lots more "cubes" all around it to hold more things. I like a lot, but almost have it completely full of movies

My offer was accepted on the place I discussed before :) Give me 4 months and I'll have a really sick setup. I can do a lot more by owning vs renting.

Congrats, man. I'm hoping to buy a place in the next half year or so, myself. It's an exciting time.

I really enjoy browsing this thread, even though I've never contributed. But I wanted say both congratulations on acceptance and holy shit, that's an astonishing balcony view!

If I remember, I'll take some photos this weekend of my modest setup and add them here.

Great news, I can't wait to see what your new set-up will look like. Is there any major additions/changes you have planned?

Amazing, congrats! Can't wait to see what you do. I am expecting to see a Kinect / PS eye / sensor bar wall!

Yeah, replacing almost all of my living room furniture. It's going to be even modernist so some of you will hate it :)

Thanks Chitta! For section in wall for sensor technology, nah. I'm not a fan of motion gaming and may actually be done with Nintendo from a console side. (I may buy Wii U for X though) So I will just need to mount the Kinect if I decide to get an XB One (that's also up in the air with all the E3 drama)

So I may have found my new place. Putting in an offer this week after confirming some details.

LTTP, but I think they setup they have in the picture may be best depending on your TV screen and what direction your windows face. The glare you would get from facing all those windows would be pretty outrageous.

Anyone have any recommendations for a nice looking, minimal area rug for a living room? I'm looking for something black/brown or white/creme for my room but everything I see online is either overpriced or looks like crap.

Ikea has a nice one I have in my office. Brown and cream. Can't remember the damn name off the top of my head... :/

That's probably the same one that I currently have. Thing is that Ikea rugs tend to unleash all kinds of small fibers everywhere & are pretty difficult to clean.
