This actually works at RealGM Trade ID: 3858494

Seattle Trades: Ray Allen, Earl Watson, Chris Wilcox, 2nd pick

Seattle Receives: Kobe Bryant, Joel Przybilla, Martell Webster, Sergio Rodriguez, Portland 2010 First-Rounder

Los Angeles Trades: Kobe Bryant, Kwame Brown

Los Angeles Receives: Ray Allen, Zach Randolph, Portland 2008 First-Rounder

Portland Trades: Zach Randolph, Joel Przybilla, Sergio Rodrguez, Martell Webster, 2008 First Rounder, 2010 First Rounder

Portland Receives: Chris Wilcox, Earl Watson, Kwame Brown, 2nd pick this year

Not my idea, but it's a pipe dream.

Although, WHO WAS THE ****ING IDIOT THAT GAVE KWAME A $9mil/yr SALARY?!?!

Man, Kobe wants to be a Laker for life guys, what are you talking about???

Hours after Kobe Bryant asked for a trade on Stephen A. Smith's radio show, he backed off after speaking to Phil Jackson and told Dan Patrick he wants to be a Laker for life.

the lakers extended kwame last summer, didn't they? can't blame that on mj.

kobe's gone -- shaq might have gotten his extension if he hadn't publically called out buss and the franchise, and he never went as far as kobe's going now. i can't even respect the shit he's pulling now -- demanding west was ballsy, but now he's just melting down, demanding the heads of anonymous insiders, and wavering between "TRADE ME NOW" and "LAKER FOR LIFE" every interview.

meanwhile jerry buss is off being arrested for dui while his organization implodes. the lakers aren't the lakers anymore.

KB24.com, official statement:

When you love something as much as I love the Lakers its hard to even imagine thinking about being elsewhere. But, the ONE THING I will never sacrifice when it comes to basketball is WINNING. That is plain and simply what it's all about. It's in my DNA. It's what pushes me to work as hard as I do. It's my daily passion and pursuit.

The more I thought about the future, the more I became convinced that the Lakers and me just have two different visions for the future. The Lakers are pursuing a longer-term plan that is different from what Dr. Buss shared with me at the time I re-signed as a free agent. I have seen that plan unfold for the last three years and watched great trade opportunities come and go, and have seen free agents passed on. That has led to the Lakers not winning a playoff series. All of that was frustrating in itself, but then, this week to have someone "inside" the Laker organization try to blame me in the media for us not being a contender right now -- that is what brought me to my current position today.

I want it to be clear that I still love, with all my heart, the Laker Legacy. From Mikan to West to Goodrich to Wilt to Kareem to Magic. That will never change. And the support my family and I have gotten from Lakers fans is undeniably the best. I will also always believe that.

But, now there is a new road ahead.

My money is on Jim Buss (the son) being the insider.

LOL.

Patrick just basically confirmed my intution that it was Jim Buss.

Not at all. He is saying the same shit we've been thinking all along. The Front Office is full of shit. Everyone's ****ing up and he wants out. i dont blame him

the weird thing is that this doesn't really bother me as a laker fan -- i think kobe's the best player in basketball, and i thank him for some of my best moments as a fan, but at bottom i don't like the guy. kobe's public persona has only got two phases: 'phony' and 'petulant.' and right now he's at roughly the level of petulance that caused him to tell the cops that shaq paid off the girls he screwed. i was sadder to see shaq go. i'd be sadder to see lamar odom go.

bring on two or three of the bulls' young players -- i love watching those guys play. just no dirk. dirk must be mitch kupchak's dream player -- big, soft, loves jumpshots -- he's like the SUPER brian cook. it's probably going to be dirk.

Pretty much. I have to echo drohne though, I've never really liked him as a person. His game is a completely different story.

If management seriously has this 3-5 year plan for building a contender then he needs to be traded now. Might as well get the mediocre seasons started as soon as possible instead of keeping Kobe and being raped every 1st round of the playoffs. Bring on the rookies!

Mitch and the people who advised him to sign the Cooks, Mihms, Kwames and Smooshs need to go aswell.

See, you're wrong about that. KG made the playoffs just the same amount as Kobe at 26-28, but the thing was, he never really had a secondary player that entire time (same as Kobe). Now KG is 31, and since he never demanded a trade or to get some more players, the team seems to slowly fall apart each and every year he's there thinking that he's enough to help them win (it almost looks like the Lakers are heading that way as well).

Yup, He's not there yet but that is the future of this Lakers team if nothing is done.

I agree with this post.

The black man everyone at Activision can agree on
So now in a radio interview with Dan Patrick after talking to Phil Jackson Kobe wants to be a Laker for life? What did Phil do, blow him?

anyway, fisher not appearing is a positive for the jazz in terms of offense, not a negative. you actually think he's a key player?

and that was the only day harpringsucks.com imploded.

so what?

Harpring's from a football family, Fisher has "experience", that's what everyone says. golden state fans know better than anyone else that he's really a liability on both ends of the floor.

Whenever Sloan decides to play a real player at the SG position, let me know.

Fun read from the LA Times yesterday :

http://www.latimes.com/sports/baske...mn?page=1&coll=la-headlines-sports-nba-lakers

This article may be what caused Kobe to blow up today :lol

Bryant has been a perfect organization man for three seasons, maintaining a steadfast belief in the same goal they pursued, however unrealistic it was.

Nevertheless, as a Lakers insider notes, it was Bryant's insistence on getting away from Shaquille O'Neal that got them in this mess.

Kobe must've missed the memo that the public perception has been that he drove Shaq out of town in order to be the man on his own team :lol

Kobe must have finally lost his cool when someone from inside the team he plays for shares that very same view :lol

harpringsucks.com said:
Once upon an evening boring, as I over stats was poring
From many quick-forgotten games and Jazz boxscores
Casually clicking, website-searching, I found my stomach sharply lurching,
A message board my eyes besmirching, besmirching with absurdities ne’er seen before
“Just some Jazz fans,” I muttered, “with tales of long past lore—
Only this and nothing more.”

But as I read from post to post, my heart grew dim, my brain engrossed
With hearty cheers and happy boasts for Derek Fisher whom they all adore!
“Playoffs,” claimed one, enthusiastic, “are where Fisher shines fantastic,
Though regular season might be spastic, come clutch-time he can’t fail to score.”
I read the final statement, mouth agape, then I swore.
Quoth the Jazz fan, “Play Point-Four!”

Feeling stunned and disbelieving, I thought, “The stats might be deceiving,
All this praise he is receiving must be from some oft-neglected source.”
But as the playoff stats I scanned, I witnessed no improvement grand
In fact, I found them rather bland, and they left me feeling fairly sore.
“Jazz fans bought in to Derek Fisher’s folklore.”
This I thought and nothing more.

And there I sat, still perusing, Fisher’s stats my thoughts confusing,
As finally, my temper losing, I succumbed to anti-Fish rancor.
“For such a vet,” I flatly stated, “I would hardly be elated
With a career dedicated to shooting a percent of ten times four.
No wonder Chris Mullins showed him the door.
In conclusion, bench Point-Four.”

Minutes passed and then a torrent, posters calling me abhorrent
My opinions did not warrant a response, my stats ignored.
“In the clutch, Fish always comes through, resplendent in the powder blue,
And leads the team, does Number 2, through many a dark and dreadful storm.
In the playoffs, we need him all the more.”
Typed the Jazz fans, “Play Point-Four!”

The days passed, turned into weeks, complete with Utah losing streaks,
The playoffs that the Jazz did seek, were in hand, more games in store.
Coach Sloan gazed out, steely-eyed, upon his team, and then relied
On Derek Fisher, Brewer denied the chance to defend T-Mac on the court.
“We can’t lose to Houston with Fisher on the floor!”
Crowed the Jazz fans, “Play Point-Four!”

The Jazz fans’ wish? Quickly granted, and quickly too the fans recanted
As Fisher’s feet were firmly planted, planted steadfast, his defense surpassing poor.
T-Mac blew by, the left or right with Fisher’s play an unholy blight
And offense as well a similar sight as he missed lay-ups on the open floor.
Jazz fans all their early hopes foreswore.
To Sloan they shouted, “Bench Point-Four!”

Mirabile dictu! Victory gained! And Jazz fans traded expressions pained
For joy, and not a soul refrained from lavishing praises on the team galore.
But Fisher left the second series, leaving fans with several theories
For why a team that once seemed dreary destroyed a rival feared before
Could it be Fish lacked the proper repertoire?
The Jazz fans, fickle, cried, “Not Point-Four!”

But in Game Two, to Fisher’s glee, he hit an open corner three
And what was this? Why, could it be? Could the fans his name restore?
As his shots grew from one to many, fans suggested (not so gently)
Fisher haters evidently missed the glory of our great savior!
“Fisher is a valuable piece of this young team’s core!
Derek Fisher, forevermore!”

Save storybooks and fairytales, nothing closes “all ends well”
As Fish hammered the final nail into the coffin of his own support.
Shot after shot he threw awry; the Spurs, well-pleased, gave their reply
With win after win, despite the tries of the Jazz before the series was o’er.
But o’er it was, with a whimper, not a roar.
Quoth the Jazz fans, “Don’t blame Point Four!”

And here am I, alone and weeping, fatigued, exhausted, almost sleeping,
When I feel a presence creeping, creeping through my open door.
I spin and stare, and then stifle a girly scream at the arrival
Of a being, some survival of a darker time in days of yore.
There is a Raven standing on my apartment floor.
It stares silent, nothing more.

“Why come you?” I shriek whilst crawling, “Why at my place do you come calling?”
Is it because I find appalling Fisher’s play, which I deplore?”
“Tell me now, you loathsome creature! Is it in this poem I feature
Weak slant rhyme and broken meter that draws your ire and now my home you explore?”
The raven faces me, a chilling look ne’er seen before.
Quoth the Raven, “Harpring sucks.”

He said that Kevin Pritchard had very animated discussions with the Seattle GM and Dallas.

Josh Howard? Rashard Lewis discussions?

i can understand why Kobe is whining, cause the front office has made some pretty big mistakes, but at the same time, he needs to STFU. All this going public helps NOTHING. Its just going to make it harder to add better players around Kobe, cause opposing GMs are going to know we're desperate and being backed into a corner by Black Mamba. Keep it in house, and besides, it's been 2 seasons since Phil was re-hired, and only 3 since Shaq left and we started this rebuilding process. Remember, Kobe, how it took FIVE years to build a championship team when you were a rookie, and that was with PRIME Shaq to build around (and Jerry West doing the building, mind you). Have some patience and express your concerns in house.

That's all well and good but it seems like they need to be shamed into action even though he looks bad in the process as well.

With the best player in the league, it shouldn't take 3 years to get COMPETENT role players around him. The team doesn't need anything big. Just ACTUAL NBA players besides Kobe and Lamar!

Shaming them isn't going to accomplish anything. Shaq tried to "shame" Dr. Buss into giving him a new contract and it got him traded. If thats what Kobe wants, thats fine, just say it, but don't pull this "Oh i want to be a Laker for life...but the front office is incompetent and the owner is a liar...but i still want to be here, i promise!"

I think Mitch needs to go personally. He's incompetent. It's one thing to have your hands tied as a GM but it's another to make horrible signings and trades with the little resources you have...

Hail to the KING baby
Looks like Simmons think Kobe's going to the Suns (also I've listed the other deals, full analysis at the link if you're curious):

Simmons said:
Deal No. 7: Houston trades Tracy McGrady, Bobby Sura (expiring contract in 2008) and the No. 26 pick for Kobe and Vladimir Radmanovic.

Deal No. 6: Philadelphia trades Andre Igoudala, Sam Dalembert, Kevin Ollie (expiring contract in 2008), the No. 12 pick and the No. 21 pick for Kobe.

Deal No. 5: Boston trades Theo Ratliff (expires in 2008), Al Jefferson, Gerald Green, the No. 5 pick and their rights to Minny's future No. 1 for Kobe.

Deal No. 4: Dallas trades Josh Howard, Jason Terry and Jerry Stackhouse (sign-and-trade starting at $7.3 million per) for Kobe.

Deal No. 3: Atlanta trades Joe Johnson, Marvin Williams, Ty Lue and the No. 11 pick for Kobe and Radmanovic.

Deal No. 2: Chicago trades Luol Deng, Ben Gordon, Victor Khryapa and the No. 9 pick for Kobe.

Deal No. 1: Phoenix trades Shawn Marion, Leandro Barbosa, Marcus Banks and the rights to Atlanta's 2008 first-rounder to the Lakers for Kobe and Radmanovic.

Now we're talking! Some of my favorite things about this trade include …

(A) The Lakers ending up with a nucleus of Marion, Odom, Barbosa and Bynum, along with Farmar, Walton, Turiaf and the No. 19 pick, as well as the inevitable Kwame Brown trade to a moronic team that convinces itself that Kwame's career could be salvaged. That's a pretty good foundation.

(B) Phoenix trotting out a starting lineup of Nash, Kobe, Raja Bell, Amare Stoudemire and Boris Diaw. Good golly. Sweet Jesus.

(C) Radmanovic realizing his manifest destiny of playing in Phoenix. It was meant to be from the moment Mike D'Antoni and Nash teamed up three years ago.

(D) Kobe and Raja as teammates. High comedy. The most improbable pairing since Rodman and Pippen 12 years ago.

(E) The most selfish player in the league (Kobe) playing with the most unselfish player in the league (Nash). What a fascinating sociological experiment. If Nash can turn Kobe into a team player, I'm voting him for our 2008 president even though he's Canadian.

Two potential problems: First, it's unlikely that the Lakers would be dumb enough to trade Kobe within their own division, although with Kupchak involved, anything's possible. And second, assuming that Nash has a say in front-office decisions at this point, would he really want to green-light a scenario that has him managing two enormous egos in Stoudemire and Kobe?

Well, lemme throw this at you: What if the Suns then swapped Stoudemire to Minnesota for KG, as I proposed in a May 14 column? That would give them the following crunch-time lineup: Nash, Kobe, Bell, Diaw and KG. Ladies and gentlemen, your 2008 World Champions! Just send them the trophy right now.

So that's my vote: Black Mamba, you're going to Phoenix to play with KG and Nash. And if it happens, I can guarantee that the 2008 playoffs will be more entertaining than the 2007 playoffs.

(Which isn't saying much, but still.)
