I figured that was it during the aforementioned Googling but the graphics look more SNES-y (for lack of a better word) than what I remember. The game was more crude looking, turn-based, kind of difficult for a younger me. I got it on a 20th anniversary CD collection back in the 90's. Maybe it was that game, who knows.

How about Descent?

Pretty sure nearly all of us played Descent.

Unless we were the only two.

"Machine Hunter" for PSX.

It was kind of like the first "loaded" game in that it was a top down maze game mixed with twin stick shooter.

I loved it.

The Unholy War... A great game back in my childhood. It was made by Edios and Crystal Dynamics so someone has have to have played it. It's a gem!

Surely someone else around here played it, but I'm not aware of any.

This was one of the first 3d RTS games that worked. And it worked beautifully. So much so that I ended up making dozens of multiplayer maps for it. Enough to help sustain an online community for a few years after release.

jup got that played that, lots of it, remember mapping for it too come to think of it.

Man, some of the games people are posting here... Dokapon Kingdom? Descent for crying out loud? One of the biggest classics of PC gaming history? I guess these days it's all, "it's not a current-gen AAA console game, so I must be the only one on the planet who's ever played it!"

Cameltry. Played similarly to the special stages in Sonic 1, though you tilted the environment with L and R buttons.

I'd really like to know if anyone else here on GAF has played Yoshi no Cookie: Kuruppon Oven de Cookie for Super Famicom. It's this weird sequel of sorts to Yoshi's Cookie that includes a mode dedicated to teaching you recipes for making real life cookies. If that doesn't suit your fancy, the original Yoshi's Cookie is still there, so that's something.

Maybe others have played it. It was really fun playing it after school with my friends in high school when we'd want a break from playing Melee.

Ha, swing and a miss.
I was fairly young when I was introduced to Descent... still not really playing games so much as cheating at Doom and Doom II and laughing hysterically at the effects of IDDQD and IDKFA on Heretic.

I'm the only person I know in person who has played Descent besides my step dad, who owned the game. Same deal with Unreal, though Unreal III and Tournament were so popular.

Guess I'll have to try harder.

The first one was kinda cool.

Don't know who got me the second one... definitely not a fun time.

Holy shit I remember wanting this for Christmas that year and my dad flat out told me "it looked like shit so I didn't get it for you. i got you this instead:

"

I love my dad.

EDIT: not saying DMC3 is obscure at all.

"Come out, come out, wherever you are!" This game was awesome, even though the controls were horrible
on PC
.

The controls are horrible no matter what platform you play it on. In spite of this the game is a blast to play and the soundtrack is top class.

More obscurities:

Anybody here played this? It's an old DOS game I used to play as a kid.

Yup. Played it. It was pretty mediocre, even as far as DOS games went. I did like the use of the lowercase delta to represent the snake though.

Anyway, here's mine:

Wizard of Wall Street, by Broderbund Software. And yes, that screenshot is how I played it: in glorious CGA. I can only assume it's obscure because the wikipedia page for Broderbund software doesn't list it, and googling ("wizard of wall street" broderbund) only gives about 32 results on Google, some of which are Gaf posts where I probably mentioned it previously.

Enchanted Arms!

Think I may of been one of the few who really liked the game - It was unique in that a member of your party was a transvestite.

This game sucks.

This game sucks even harder. Low-rent Mario Paint clone. One of those shits you asked your mom to buy you as a kid solely because of the cover and the name, lolz.
