Games that no one has played on NeoGAF except you

No one has played this.

I have, rented it long, long ago

I liked it as well. Flawed as hell and has some mind bending examples of bad programming and awful design, but still has tons of charm (or something... cause I keep going back to it).

From what I understand, they cut quite a bit out of the PS3 port in the effort of getting it to play smoother. Wasn't to pleased about some of the stuff they cut out.

Wow, that's too bad. Would be nice to see it get some kind of definitive resurrection on Steam or something, with all content intact and any needed corrections and fixes to the game. Would be super niche, but man... today's world is the place for a game like that.

I honestly never had a problem with that game, all the time I spent trying to co-op through it with my cousin on his 360... I know it reviewed badly, but I figured people just didn't dig top-down, kind of old school and lighthearted at a $60 price on 360 with games like Gears of War around.

Played this as a kid, I don't remember how old I was. You throw bananas right?

Castle of the Winds, pretty awesome roguelike. Played it as a kid as well, me and my friend had no idea what we were doing and english is not my native language so that added to the difficulty but we went forward through trial and error.

Bish loves my games!
Played it for the first time about 6 months ago at an arcade called Galloping Ghosts. My buddies and I were fixated on it for hours.

See when you say stuff like this you make we think that you're actually NOT a bitter, success-hating troll. It makes we want to like you! I'm so confused!

Also on topic I'd say Treasure's Loony Toons: Defenders of the Universe since I was producer on the game and it sadly never came out (though it was 95% done).

The series itself already seems pretty niche and most territories, but outside of me and some buddy of mine it always feels like no one knows that there was a console sequel. Which I honestly liked much more than Serious Sam 2.

From my collection of the original Xbox:

I had to search a lot to find a copy of Daemon Vector:

And this is kind of fun, Petit Copter:

And speaking of Bible games:

Shows my age (38) but when I was still using a pre-windows PC running DOS 5.0, there was a qbasic compiler built into DOS and it came with code for two games. Most people had no idea this was in there. You opened qbasic, opened the code and executed it.

Nibbles

I've played this one and it was also thanks to me my brother and sister first video game :p
They're 24 and 23... and Nibble + Gorillas

It's not that bad. My girlfriend enjoyed it quite a bit as well. Though she prefers the Catz one.

Edit: My girlfriend is not a minor.

I wanted to play 40 Winks (can't find the quote). I remember the Diehard Gamefan previews. Top down anything was my shiz, so of course I noticed. Wow, digging up the dirt. Good job, dude.

...top down? You might be thinking of a different game. 40 Winks was a 3D platformer.

You could transform into a ninja, a caveman, a freakin astronaut superhero...this game captured the hell out of my imagination when I was like 9.

Akai Katana home user edition. Probably had a run of 100 or so, limited CAVE-shop only version of the game with a completely different scoring system than the original.

Never saw the movie and I distinctly remember looking up Gamespot reviews of this and A Bug's Life to decide which one (clearance sale):

This was based on an RC line at the time:

This game had you collecting bottles in a time limit in different levels in time and was hard:

I really liked this game as it was basically a puzzle platformer:

I bought a lot of these on clearance. Also had Earthworm Jim for GBC but thought someone would have played that.

I feel like this needs its own thread. That quote, what the fuck.

To be fair there was a desperate scrabble for a 3D platformer as good as Mario 64 on the Playstation, that led to garbage like Croc being hyped to high heaven. About the only game that got close in the end was probably Spyro the Dragon, and that wasn't that great.

I had the demo for 40 Winks but can't even remember anything about it now other than the unique artstyle.

I wouldn't be surprised if Kagari's played it, given her Titanic predilection, but I'm sure very few GAFfers will have touched this game. There was a time where I was all about the point and click advantures.

Oh my god, my Mom had this game. Played the hell out of it. Never expected to see it on GAF. :lol

This game was a little bit successful in Germany at the time it was released (I think it was even on top of the sales charts) but it remains an insiders' tip and I think I'm pretty much the only one who remembers this game.

Such a great game, awesome story, great western atmosphere, beautiful 2D graphics. It accompanied me through my whole middle school. It was so difficult, it kept me busy for years. Was such a great feeling after finally beating this game after about 3 years of playing it (with some breaks in between).

Thinking about it, there was one mission I've actually only beaten with cheats because it was so frickin' difficult (and it was not the last mission!). I tried so many different tactics and restarted the mission a dozen times, but I've never been able to successfully end the mission because the last part was really hard. So I gave up and used a "Kill all enemies" cheat. At least it was only the very ending of the mission, I honestly played 98 % of the mission without cheats so I didn't feel that bad about it.
But still, I need to revisit this game again and finally beat that mission without cheats!

Recently played the demo version again and it still holds up today. A shame that the sequel is such garbage. Can't stand the 3D engine and the freely rotatable camera, your overview is immediately lost...

Btw, if anyone is interested in a great real-time tactics game (comparable to Commandos) with a cool western atmosphere and great story, Desperados is currently on sale on GOG.com: http://www.gog.com/gamecard/desperados_wanted_dead_or_alive

OMG, I just found the US cover artwork, it's horrible :O

How many people remember Robo Warrior for the NES?

tumblr_lgn6b9GuaD1qb8uuw.jpg

I played the SHIT outta this game as a kid, and I still think it's a pretty decent game. Hard as fuck, though. And the whole "stage goes on forever if you don't find the chalice" thing some stages had was borderline unfair. :lol

And there was also a Blaster Master game on the Game Boy that was actually a re-titled sequel to Robo Warrior.

hmm... now I have no idea what game I was thinking of. I don't have any old magazines anymore. Ah, this is gonna bug me all day.

It was a PS1 game, top-down, I think everything was pre-rendered CGI... makes me recall Grabbed By the Ghoulies or Luigi's Mansion, except not good at all and terrible PS1 looking.

Really unhelpful lead I'm giving, I'm sure lol

great game but difficulty was pretty over the top.

Hard Nova, anybody?

416niefk5yL.jpg

Called a "quasi sequel" (though more spiritual successor) to Sentinel Worlds, Hard Nova is a sci-fi rpg where you assume the role of a mercenary traipsing about the galaxy doing mercenary things.

The squadmates you can pick up along the way are pretty interesting but you can't dismiss them once brought on, which sucks in the beginning but people's skills balance out later on as they gain more experience. Ground and space combat are on display, but it was the planet exploration via your landing craft that I loved.

I picked this up in the bargain bin of my local game store when I was a kid and was blown away with the ability to assemble my crew, go zooming about space, shooting up ships, landing on-- then exploring/surveying-- a planet, then raiding a base, etc... was just the kind of sci-fi fix I needed at the time. I'd be surprised if nobody here has played it, but all my friends that have been playing video games for 20+ years have never heard of it so I don't know...
