I really need a new hard drive in this thing. Cleaning out space for BF3 and watching it install at a snail's pace wasn't fun.
How about installing the 2GB update after all that I guess that wasn't fun either.I really need a new hard drive in this thing. Cleaning out space for BF3 and watching it install at a snail's pace wasn't fun.
Speaking of which, what is with the eternities spent installing? Its like 40 minutes to an hour for each of the games I've installed recently. And these are digital downloads.
Installing the 1.7GB Dragon's Dogma demo took me close to two hours, and another hour to delete it afterwards. That certainly was... an experience. #PlayStationMemoriesSpeaking of which, what is with the eternities spent installing? Its like 40 minutes to an hour for each of the games I've installed recently. Several people have sworn to me that this process is considerably slower if things are downloading at the same time.
Alas, I have never had the patience to actually test this out, by downloading and installing something twice, funnily enough.
But people swear it is true.
Will PSN+ do these installs during its patch/update window? If not automatically, is there a way to configure it to do so?
I wouldn't mind it nearly as much except that you can't do a single thing while an install is going on. Sucks to get messages from friends that you can't even respond to. You're just completely dead in the water until the long running process finishes.
But hey, if I can just leave it to the PSN+ maintenance window that works for me.
You would remember. I have spend over 200 hours getting them on two platforms. Greatest challenge of my video game life.
No joking. With friends it is epic. Give it a shot. If you need a buddy then feel free to add me.
But will it install the games themselves? Downloading can at least be done in the background and doesn't turn your PS3 into one big progress bar. Installs do though.PS+ will download and install patches automatically. You can use the web store to set it to download a game as well.
Anyone know why it won't let me download Battlefield 3 (11.6 gb) when I have 27 gb free on the system? Keeps giving me a not enough space error.

You have to have double that space basically. You have 12 GB download and then basically another 12 to actually install
Perhaps it's slightly more compressed than usual, requiring more gigabytes!
At 29 gb free, still a no go. This is getting really lame.
Edit: 33gb is still not enough. WTF is going on. Has anyone actually been able to get this game on their hard drive?
Look, if the download file is 24gb, you'll need ANOTHER 24gb. Think about it this way, when you download an install for your PC, you'll need enough space for the install exe and enough space to install it. So to have BOTH the exe and installed app on your hdd. Afterwards you can delete the install file.

While I appreciate the attempt to help, the game is listed as being 11.6 gb, not 24.
It is absolutely insane that you need over 30 gb to download this file.
That really is weird. It isnt part of some bigger package like Uncharted is it and the 12 GB is for just one part?
Anyway, have you tried re starting your system after all those deletions?
Yea, tried restarting, didn't matter.
What I think is happening is that store is actually forcing you to download two copies of the game. Once I got up to 42gb free, it finally went through but put two different BF3's in my download que, each at 12gb.
I did some quick checking and I don't seem to be the only person this happened too, but I'm curious if anyone else here had it work that way. Anyway, I removed one of them from the queue and finally have this game downloading. Took one hell of a purge to get to this point though.
Edit: I should add that I don't think it's an Uncharted situation, since both BF3's in the queue were listed exactly the same, and the store just lists it as just 12gb. Either way it's pretty weird.
They might still be separate parts. Ni No Kuni does this too.
not this week. The games listed are for the month of july and are spaced out by a week.I only see bf3 added, I'm new to this ps+ stuff. Wasn't Oddworld supposed to go up?
I'm starting to feel like I should get a Vita considering all these free Vita games I'm getting. (and in preparation for PS4 I guess.)
I did a quick check online and I see a used WiFi one for 150, is that a decent deal?
So, does this mean the PS+ IGC has been updated for July?

Forgive the basic questions - I'm new to PSN+ and its been a while since I spent quality time on the PS3.
Battlefield 3 went in, Deus Ex: Human Revolution went out.
Yes it will sir
I never DL big games, just set it and DL a bit
Then turn off PS3 let PS+ do it overnight,
Wake up with new game installed
Hmm, thanks, I might just get it.That's a great deal. I bought my Vita for 239 and haven't regretted it even once.
I know how you feel. The problem for me is the fact that you need twice the space when you download, otherwise I don't think it would be that bad.PS+ is not good for my 40 gig hard drive
Gonna have to find some money...
Beautiful, and thanks. Looks like I'll leave PSN+ to do its thing with Battlefield 3 overnight.Yes it will sir
