Media Create Sales: Week 26, 2013 (Jun 24 - Jun 30)

Really glad that Toukiden performed well, once I get a vita I will buy it.

I just wonder how Koei is going to handle Toukiden.

Hopefully not like they handle Dynasty Warriors games.

Have a feeling that Yokai Watch might become L5s biggest bomba since Ninokuni PS3.

It's safe to say that at least will sell better than Time Travelers, Guild01 and Girls RPG. I guess it's something to begin with.

Delay the Anime until january 2014 it's not a good idea though.

I think its evry unlikely that God Eater 2 will be canceled at this point.

Oh, that was more of a joke based on the fact that it still doesn't have a release date even as we near the two-year mark since its announcement. I don't really think there's much chance it'll be cancelled.

Oh with next week's numbers DKC3D will have sold out its first shipment of 190k. Lets see how far its legs go.

The debut will be so much lower for sure. Hope it has Inazuma Eleven legs to reach this number.
Whats so much lower? Fantasy Life opened with 134k FW, I don't think it'll have any problems matching that.

So yeah, Famitsu unveiled a High School Musical DxD game for 3DS... and it might be published by Kadokawa if Google Translation is correct of the copyright info.

http://www.siliconera.com/2013/07/0...-involves-ripping-your-opponents-clothes-off/

Holy fuck, Kadokawa's been raining 3DS support, three games in what, a month?

First Fate/kaleid liner, then Metal Max 4, now High School DxD.

What's next?

I'm expecting some truly epic usage of 3D mode in that game ;)

I hope its more but we could be seeing a LTD not to much higher than that. I highly doubt it ever reaches Fantasy's Life's total.

Fantasy Life was released during Christmas period and the End of the Year boost. And FL could have been helped by Animal Crossing hype. Also the stock problems this game had, maybe benefited FL.

Otherwise, Youkai Watch was supposed to be released across an Anime, but it was delayed until 2014. If the Anime was currently airing I could see a FL performance, but without this promotion I think this numbers are out of reach.

Youkai Watch succes will be caused by its legs, like Inazuma Eleven did. We'll see.

Not sure about that. It won't be a smash hit, but it will hopefully build up a first user base for furure releases. Yokai Watch is supposed to follow Inazuma's footsteps and IE didn't become a huge hit until the second game and until the anime build up a solid fan base either.

L5 won't let the game build an userbase.

They will release Yokai Watch + Ultra G at the end of the year and one month before the release they'll announce Yokai Watch 2: Rolex Edition and Yokai Watch 2: Casio Edition for release in summer 2014.

Why did so many titles release at once? The lead up was extremely bare, as is this week. Why did they all dogpile last week? End of financial quarter fun times or?

Why people were expecting remake (or reimagination or whatever you call it) to outsell latest numbered sequel ?

I'm talking about the series as a whole. You would think that the more accessible 3 and 4 would sell better, given that they pulled bigger first week sales.

It's funny seeing people say Youkai Watch will not sell as well as Fantasy Life, considering how many people thought that game would bomb being released so soon after Animal Crossing.

I'd die for EO5 with a different, more mature art-style, something like Fire Emblem Awakening.

That would definitely attract more players.

Hmm, on a different note, the Wii really has died off a lot faster than I thought it would.

I originally had thought it possible it would crawl its way to 13M eventually, but that seems out of reach now.

The PS3 also won't reach that number, but I am curious how much that gap narrows eventually and whether there's still demand for the system at a lower price.

The Wii has been outsold in the UK, and will ultimately be outsold in the US I think; it's quite a reversal given the massive phenomenon it was.

Toukiden Vita sales are almost double that of the PSP version's, which is great. Hopefully publishers will take notice (although if more games of this type sell well on the Vita, it will just encourage more MonHun-likes, which I feel is a tired genre at this point).

I wonder if the Vita version was more heavily advertised in Japan?

Yggdrasil fell below previous versions' debuts, I wonder if it's because of the deviation from the "main" series (due to the heavier focus on story)? Perhaps that's alienating its core audience a tad.

I thin the PSP might have another good holiday, but after that it might be over for it in Japan.

not sure how PSP would have another good holiday if the last one was awful. There is no titles for this holiday unless you are counting on GE2 which would be a mistake.

I would be surprised if Youkai Watch sells half of what Fantasy Life sold.

For anyone who expects Freedom Wars to become a breakout hit in Japan, good luck. I can't remember the last SECJ game that's a huge title in Japan. If it happens, I'm buying the lottery.

Lower distribution costs?

No idea, but I noticed it's quite common. Happens the same with the Best Price releases, a bunch of them release on the same day and then nothing for months. But then again it makes more sense in that case, as these re-releases sell slowly over time, unlike regular releases ('cept Nintendo evergreens)

Is it really a shock? Internal development pretty much died after 2010 and nintendo was the only one supporting it and nintendo didnt drop the price. Im still not convinced either of the other two outsell it we though it sure is strange from when it was a few months away from outselling both combined

Maybe not the 360 but the PS3 no doubt.

Hopefully Toukiden success doesn't make KOEI takes the same path with it just like Dynasty Warriors. Slapping numbers upon numbers upon numbers open them with hardly any addition or improvements to the games at all.

Oh who am I kidding.

What in the world is taking so long on God Eater 2? It feels like forever since the first one has been out. Crank that shit out please.

30k is the minimum.

Really? The minimum? There are 25k people who will buy a WiiU that week because they were waiting for Pikmin 3?

Most of the people desperately excited for this niche franchise likely already have a WiiU. I don't expect a big bump. I mean I hope I'm wrong but I think +15k would be optimistic.

One game is not going to bump the Wii U unless it's a major big hitter like Mario Kart or a numbered Dragon Quest. Nintendo games are not as front loaded. If nintendo wants a bump they need to release a set of high quality games that will get good word of mouth and make people realize there are enough good games on the system to make a purchase worthwhile.

The end of the year looks good there and I think Pikmin 3 will add to that momentum coming into the holidays, but by itself I don't think we will see a massive impact. Unless nintendo really advertises the heck out of it (the ads they made are good, but so fare they are rarely played) I don't think hardware will get a 25K boost on the back of one game.

Technically, the NSLU retail game version and the White SKU hit the same day, so it's not as if Pikmin 3 the only reason that might cause people to buy it on the 13th, just most of it.

Praying for Pikmin. Series needs the love. 30k doesnt seem like a lofty goal for the Wii U, but the system has a knack for pulling unpleasant surprises, so who knows.

Im talking about this year specificallly in japan and the us. Now of course the shipmennt numbers this month could make that seem dumb as europe is ablot harder to get info for.

Well, this year worldwide, for the period from January to March, the PS3 + PS2 sales increased by 36% compared to last year.

Well thats interesting as it was down in japan and the us. Pal realy must be doing well for the system. I guess well have a better idea by the end of the year. It certainly woule be ironic for the ps3 to end iin first

Where did people get the idea that Pikmin itself would be cause for a large bump? On Pikmin's release week GCN climbed up by 15K. On Pikmin 2's release week GCN climbed up by 3K. The NPC releases didn't bump the Wii up by even 1K.

Wouldn't the new hardware SKU and New Super Luigi have more influence over the hardware numbers?
