Luigi's Mansion 2 probably won't catch DKR numbers before this chart is finished, but it seems pretty sure that will catch the game when all is said and done.

While I don't think it will really help sales, one interesting trend we're also seeing is an increase in the number of smartphone games showing up on the system.

I imagine the port is relatively easy given the Vita basically runs on smartphone parts.
This is going to be an interesting talking point in about 3-5 years as the generation matures, namely what impact the fact that Nintendo hardware all runs on custom silicon as opposed to their competitors will mean for multiplatform support.

Toukiden's general producer Hisashi Koinuma twitted that they are shipping the game everyday and the total is now over 300K copies.

I wonder how many of those will be sold when all is said and done.

does anyone thinks that this game will have legs ?

With both versions being 80-100% ST could this mean...legs!?

Damn, second week now became a lot more interesting.Things would get a freaking lot more interesting the bigger Toukiden (and any vita game on this matter) gets.

Toukiden has debuted with only ~12k less copies sold (not counting PSN sales) than the latest mainline Dynasty Warriors and also with a higher sell-through.

I think Koei is pretty happy with the result.

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!

Yeah, when you think about it, it's a fantastic result for them.

Yeah I'm sure they wanted something "new"
(Other than DW they have NInja Gaiden and Atelier, but they both are from teams they bought out).

Are you talking about Warriors Orochi?
Cause the last mainline Dynasty Warriors game was at 260k.

I already pointed in april when I was living in Japan that the promotion for Toukiden was pretty big (two months before the release). Specially for the Vita version.
So this debut it's not a surprise. Just a little higher that I was expecting, but I already mention the possibility that Toukiden could pass Soul Sacrifice before.

Also, after the retailers impressions I posted in the last thread, this week was as expected (maybe except Date a Live).

Nice to see new high quality games for the Vita. I just wish they weren't all hunting games as I can't really get into the genre...

Whoa.

Toukiden doing well was an easy guess, its one of the bigger Vita games. How much its helping hardware though is a big surprise.

Not really, ppl wrote it off as a cheap MH clone at first until reviews and impressions of the final release started pouring in.

Toukiden is a successful third-party story on Vita, this is the most important thing about it.

Games are probably being green lit at the moment, more MH clones, sure, but better than nothing!

Phantasy Star needs to hurry the fuck up.

Whoa.

Being a MH clone is a good thing in Japan =p

These results show God Eater 2 will do very well on the Vita, but since Vita is a bit limited by its userbase, its gonna be interesting to see whether it'll have the legs to reach the numbers of the previous games. Either the PSP version does very well relative to its age and relevance or the Vita version brings new fans in.

I'm super happy for Toukiden's success as well, I have been cheering for this game since it first (bad) demo till the full game release, IMO KT really deserve it.

It's a new core IP as well which are notoriously hard to sell in Japan these days.

But it is a game in the hunting action genre which is insanely popular in Japan. Soul Sacrifice was another new IP in the hunting action genre that sold well.

In retrospect, Toukiden did so much better than Soul Sacrifice when comparing both of their first weeks. The PSV was hot off of its price cut and it didn't have a PSP version of the game either.

Is it not more likely that if GE2 is gonna sell as well as everyone is thinking it will that it will increase said userbase ?

It'll need to do what it just did for Toukiden if it wants that to happen: sell more than PSP version and give the Vita a big boost. Otherwise it'll be just mainly PSP users who are already fans since the first game.

Dat Vita bump!

Having KOEI/Tecmo/Gust on the Vita train to the end is ok by me. Put 'em in the seat next to Marvelous AQL. I wonder who will strike Vita gold next.

Let's stop talking about the Vitabump, and start talking about the Toukiden platform split. We haven't seen many simultaneous PSP:Vita multiplat releases yet.

The Vita version sold 86% more. Vita YTD is "just" 82% ahead of PSP. In LTD OTOH PSP is ahead 12x.

Is ~the past half year of hardware the only thing that really matters when predicting multi-platform splits? Is LTD a non-factor in practice?

If all PSP owners prior to this year ceased to exist any longer, then sure, but that isn't the case. Toukiden is a new IP which was promoting the PSV version mainly in its marketing. It's great that the PSV SKU outsold the PSP SKU.

I think GE2 will be interesting to see considering it is an established IP. When is it coming out?

MH4 is delayed again? Its not coming out this August?

Mid-September now I think?

Maybe i'm not not remembering right and mixing up August with September, or was it set for August first?

EDIT: Seems that September was the month i was thinking of. I thought he ment that the game was delayed again, as in it not being out in September after all, but i guess maybe he mean the delay from "summer 2013" as Capcom first said for MH4.

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free
Have a feeling that Yokai Watch might become L5s biggest bomba since Ninokuni PS3.

I think August was expected since it was expected that Summer 2013 was when it was set to release. Unless they consider September part of summer, I would say it did get delayed.

Are all MC numbers? Garaph's the easy source to get archives from and that uses Famitsu numbers. :)

Either way, I wouldn't say it's a bad debut, I mean it's a port. Legs will be the most telling though.

Still, 34k/37k is good for the kind of game and low-profile release, and port. :p

I remember people thinking it was going to bomb, I would've agreed if it was like... 20k?

Yeah, that is probably what he ment when he said "delayed again". I first thought he ment that it got delayed again resently after the release date was set :)

Huh, would not have expected Toukiden Vita to outsell the PSP version, let alone by almost 2:1. Guess that bodes well for GE2 whenever (if it ever?) it finally releases.
I think its evry unlikely that God Eater 2 will be canceled at this point.
