Lol, you can say that again.

That's why DRM does not confirm the purchases you own.

You're forgetting Lost Planet: Colonies Edition for online AND the achievements. There's online achievements (reaching level 100 which is GOOD FUCKING LUCK at this point unless you manipulate files/hack it) with it as well.
Also missing BlazBlue Calamity Trigger, which I had no idea was on PC till about ten minutes ago.

DietRob

i've been begging for over 5 years.
Well I guess it's time to REALLY start playing Dark Souls. I've been dabbling with it off and on for a few months. Seems like now I need to go into ONLY PLAY DARK SOULS mode until I'm able to finish it.

Batteries the CRISIS!
Games whose online facilities and achievements will die July 1, 2014--some of these may no longer be able to be activated at this point and thus will be DEAD DEAD:
Grand Theft Auto IV
Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City

Fuck. I just bought these during the Steam summer sale. I sure hope Rockstar issues a patch.

This is almost surely better for gamers in the long run, but shutting down games that use GFWL sucks for right now.

Fuck, any word on what's going to happen to all the games that use GFWL? I have some of those that I still haven't played yet :(

Bet if someone stuck in the title that SP games wont work anymore and listed them in OP we would get a lot more bitching. They need a followup presser stating all single-player content will remain playable and wont need the GFWL login service to start. This is just another glaring example of how bad an online-only Xbone would have been. Why i still dont buy xbla games unless they are super cheap.

So much for continuing to play Mortal Kombat Collection, if it ends up getting screwed over completely. Fifteen dollars down the drain. :/

Bolded have either being patched or are highly rumored to be getting patched. Underlined i got for free.

Let this be a lesson for the Xbone and 360 people. STOP SUPPORTING MS SHIT.

All the stuff i bought above i bought at -75% off because i looked at it as 'renting' loss because i knew this would happen eventually. Stop buying shit on 360 XBLA while your at it please, those purchases will be dead eventually.

Who gives a fuck if you need Titanfall, DR3 or the next CODified edition of Halo 5, just stopping supporting this company that will throw you under the bus at the first opportunity.

Xbox LIVE v1
Zune
Windows Phone 7
Games for Windows LIVE

Sorry if you were using any of this stuff.

But buy Xbox One, please.

This is all that needs to be said. MS history speaks for itself.

Surely they're going to create some kind of shim to fake out the activation part if they take the servers down. Seems like a simple fix at a single point that would make sure all GFWL games at least activate and are playable.

I can confirm that Fallout 3 effectively won't suffer at all from this.

I played the base game for many hours before I had to create a GFWL account in order to buy the DLC. Even then, the DLC is now available on Steam, so is the Game of the Year Edition. Beforehand the game never even asked me to sign into Live.

The only problem is that if you currently have a save file you started while logged into Live, that file is attached to Live. If you wanna start a new file, just do it while NOT logged into Live.

I can, at the very least, confirm that the base game is already 100 percent functional without Live.

I guess we could always play offline right? Yeah, we miss out on that sweet multiplayer, but if we wanted to play single, it would still launch GFWL, just not connect...?

Someone help me out because i really want to go back and play RFG in the future again.

No, I think GFWL is required to even activate the game or play any part of it. Looks like it's gonna be DEAD DEAD unless you crack it after that point.

Did people buying GfWL titles really expect a service Microsoft themselves barely cared for from start, and haven't really updated in years, to continue running indefinitely?

At least every on Neogaf should have heard the warnings about the service many times over before buying GfWL titles.

They way Microsoft have let this service running for years, ruining several good games along the way, without bothering to act until now, tells a lot about what kind of company they are.

Well, fuck MS for this.

Owned titles:
Pirates of Black Cove
Dawn of War II: Chaos Rising
Plants vs Zombies
Blacklight: Tango Down
Viva Pinata
Shadowrun
Deus Ex: GOTY
Age of Empires III

A few activate on Steam... but still... terrible obvious news.

I'd email the publisher. You never know they might patch it out.

It was published by THQ and developed by Volution. The former is dead and the latter no longer holds the rights to the game. Red Faction is one of the IPs that went unsold in the auction.

If I'm correct, GFWL is required to play the game at all.

Ah at last, goodbye GFWL you will NOT be missed one little bit. What few games I have I am willing to sacrifice just to rid the PC eco system of this horrible shitfest of vomit. I wouldn't worry about losing any single player games though, this is the PC platform single player games can be fixed (you have been able to play GTA 4 for years without GFWL).

What the hell!? So what's going to hapen to the GFWL version of SSFIV AE? I swear, Capcom better patch it so I can upgrade to Ultra or I'm going to flip shit.

I see everyone's tweets and comments about USF4 and GFWL. We are looking into what options are available to take care of users that (cont.)

..purchased on GFWL, but we will announce what will happen once we have something 100% confirmed. Stay tuned!

Capcom will have something to say about the standalone GFWL AE client at a later date. i'm not feeling so good about that purchase now.

My damages: Batman AA, Batman AC, GTA IV, RE5, Dead Rising 2, Dark Soul, Lost Planet.

/Shrug.

Could be worse I guess. Not really into any of them. Batman games were fun, but it's not like I'm compelled to replay it. Still have yet to play Dark Soul after tutorial area, guess I'd better get on that.

EDIT: Oh, Fall Out 3 too. But filed that under Batman, not really replaying it.

You should be more concerned. not being able to play your games anymore doesn't really get any worse.

They didn't even patch their GfWL client when ToS were changed, so now when you try to log in with the client (and haven't accepted new ToS yet) you just get a generic error with no explanation at all. You have to manually visit the xbox.com site and accept new terms from there.

Just saying.

Yeah, H Town was tellling me about that, thats some straight up bullshit.

Lot of fear mongering going on around here today.

Oh, are you saying there's nothing to be concerned with?

The joy of seeing something as useless as GFWL go away is sadly tainted by the thought of games like GTAIV being jacked up or straight unplayable on PC. The Episodes are my one of my most played games on Steam, I'd hate to go back to the console versions but at this point I pretty much need a PS3 for legacy gaming.

Ah, missed that. Does that mean Lost Planet: Colonies will still be able to be played if you bought it through Steam?

As I understand it, the version of Lost Planet 1 on Steam has no GFWL--I am not sure what the Colonies content is or if it's available.

It's been like that for like three years. Three years and they wouldn't even patch the client enough to prompt you to "click here to accept the new terms of service."

You can already play GTA 4 and EFLC without GFWL. A simple file (it is NOT a crack) deactivates GFWL and lets you play single player. Many GTA 4 fans found this out a month or so after release when an update to GFWL stopped GTA 4 from working for nearly 3 weeks.

I just checked and It's on Steam but I don't see any mention of Games for Windows (Live) on it's page outside of Cross-Platform Play which doesn't even mention GfWL (which was required for that). Weird. Is Capcom in the process of fixing their stuff or did they yank it or is the Steam version completely autonomous outside of the online play from GfWL? *shrug*

Wtf man >_>

Good thing I finished Dark souls recently (at least one playthrough) but hearing this is bad bad.

Now I NEED to play GTAIV/Episodes - although was planning to play it a bit later since I have it on PS3 l0l. Also gotta play Red Faction Guerrilla.
.
Guess I wont be getting batman, Fable 3, Fallout 3, Resident Evil 5, and Lost Planet 2 - unless they do a patch.

Bioshock 2
FlatOut: Ultimate Carnage
DiRT 3
Fallout New Vegas
Bulletstorm

You can play Fall3 without GfWL. Same with the DLC. If you sign in the save-file is attached which hoses that save file but you can completely play it offline. Same for Dark Souls minus the online play stuff.

Biohazard 5 should also be fine offline but may need GfWL to install/DRM. Dunno about LP2.

How in the fuck am I going to play the games I bought that forced GfWL on me?

EDIT: Wait, wait... no fucking Dark Souls online? Are you KIDDING?

It's kind of funny but Microsoft almost released an entire console that would have robbed you of your games like this hahaha. As a big Dark Souls player, I am crushed.

Oh, are you saying there's nothing to be concerned with?

Actually, yes. Because the service will go dark next July. That leaves a couple days for it to get figured out.

Also because there's no way a company will agree to just let their products go dark and deliver no more revenue just because an add on service goes dark.

You guys think that there's just a guy at Microsoft who will just flip the switch without maybe having a business plan to move all current titles away and working that out with the pubs and devs? Really?

Mate it has happened before. The publishers still in business care about selling their new shit.
