I'm not too far from beating the game, so I figured I would ask this now. What are some good methods for grinding money?

For me it's hands down Episode 11 on normal. Just skip all the cutscenes, walk for a bit, skip cutscene and go nuts on the boss. I always get hit by the beams but still make 1.5-1.8 million for about 3 and a half minutes of gameplay. You can get over 2 million if you avoid the beams.

By the way does anyone have access to the game files? I"m simply just looking for pics of all the costumes during costume select. I really want that render of Natalia's extra outfit <3

At first I was doing Episode 1 on Very Hard (53sec, ~519.000$) but it's so boring, I switched for the sub-mission "Weight Limit" on Normal (~1min, 900.000$-1.000.000$).

Just finished the game and I loved it, not as much as the No More Heros games and Killer7, but I liked it as much as Lollipop Chainsaw.

If I had to describe the game, it would be Cowboy Beebop on acid. The game is definitely Sudas weirdest game this generation, but not even close to touching the weirdness of Killer7, which was a total mindfuck from every step of the way. I was actually hoping that this game would not make any sense at all.

My only issue is that it was a bit too easy, I never ran out Mika tickets so I finished it quite easily.

The combat is good, but you guys are crazy for comparing it to MGSR. It's more comparable to LP, Ninja Blade etc

Here is something pretty cool: When you're grinding on the elevator sub-mission and at the end, Mondo will say something. If he says "That was too easy", you've earned the Gentleman's Payment

EDIT: Nevermind, I lied. He said it and it was the first time I hadn't gotten the Gentleman's Payment :/

If LP means Lollipop Chainsaw, then no. I found the combat in Killer is Dead to be way more in depth than Lollipop's combat ever dreamed of

Finished KID this morning. Hats off to you Grasshopper you've out don't yourself.

1. KID
2. NMH
3. KILLER 7
4. SOTD
5. NMH2

Going at a plat run with this

So the trophy/achievement for AAA on 44 missions correlates to 1 difficulty mode only. So I definitely playing on easy, while going for the 100,000,000 total cash achievement/trophy.

What!? Crowd management for sparkle hunting in LP blows the dodge and press X as fast as you can stuff of KID out if the water.

Well......THAT was an ending. Guess I can look at the artbook now. I assume I should get the $100,000,000 before getting the costumes, unless they give me different abilities for the cheaper ones?

Ugh, why can't I unlock Koharu again?

& more costumes are unlocked for AAA missions? Oooh boy...

Really disappointed with the ending...

The super-saiyan moon-robot thing was so uninteresting. It was typical. I was praying it was satire and they would joke about the whole Japanese transformation cliche. I did enjoy the last battle when they went back to 'executioner' suits, but I do think that was a missed opportunity for parody.

All the reviewers saying the plot made no sense and such, are so tame. I would of loved the ending to be far more out there!

The whole game should of ended with a cliffhanger that didn't even attempt to resolve the story. It should of been more like Twin Peaks last episode, where Lynch was almost teasing the audience for not supporting the show and left them with one huge disequilibrium.

Personally, the pill from Area 151 could of been used to create a very psychedelic ending, where Mondo is not aware of the pills effects on his mental condition.

The whole noir/70's Japanese New Wave style was kinda lost in the ending, which is a huge disappointment.

Overall, episode 3, 6, 51, 7, 8,9,10 were excellent and I'd love to see more stand alone episodes as DLC.

Mondo makes an off handed comment right before the fight with David about how that's just the way action games end.

The moments that Mondo breaks the fourth wall are some of the funniest moments in gaming that I have experienced in a long time

Replaying Lollipop Chainsaw and this game back to back has been a surreal experience. Especially with loud headphones, my head is still pounding.

AAAHHHH the ending! I had to pause the game and crank up the volume. that was very well executed (pun intended). Suda51 sure knows how to end a game on a high note ;)

solid good game - i would give it an 7.5/10. They were enjoyable parts here and there but there were also some dumb and lazy gameplay sections. great soundtrack, decent combat system with really no depth - it was a fun ride, a great crazy experience. replaying the game would kinda ruin this game for me because the second time around i would find more problems and would not be distracted by all the stylish shit going on. Also main protagonist lacks personality - he sure is no Garcia or Travis.

NMH is still in a class of his own.

I understand the criticisms reviewers had with the Gigolo mode, but the combat system in this game is off the chain. Definitely the best melee combat in a Grasshopper game. There's not a whole lot of depth or anything, but dealing with mooks in this game is way more fun than in No More Heroes. Getting combos and landing counters is really satisfying.

Looks like they're might be finally approaching the same ballpark as guys like Platinum Games and Tecmo (on a good day). However, playing this game still mostly just makes me want to play Bayonetta or Vanquish or Metal Gear Rising.

Still, I'm just glad to be able to play a new Japanese console game. This game feels way more colorful than most of what I've been playing on consoles. I felt the same way playing Shadows of the Damned

So far though (I'm at chapter 9) the story doesn't feel like it even touches Killer 7.

I'm playing through it again, and I think I've noticed something pertaining to the story.

In Episode 4, the moon mansion has these paintings scattered throughout. It's safe to say that the painting is of David in executioner mode, with a blonde woman. SInce David said that Bryan's office holds bad memories for him, do you think this painting is hinting at a past relationship with Vivienne?

It could be there for no reason, but for me, it allows Vivienne to be more important than just showing up and sprouting arms every once in a while.

Man, I've finally sat down and played through a big chunk of the game. There's so much cool stuff in here and it really does play quite well.

The tearing, though. Come on, the tearing is so bad. How the fuck did they think it was acceptable to release an action game in this condition? I'd almost be willing to accept the hit from v-sync if it were given to us as an option. There's just too much tearing here and it absolutely spoils the visuals. :(

I dont think I will 100% the side missions. I cant beat the one on the motorcycle & have no patience for the maze mission where you have to find shit in the basement. The basement shit was killing my eyes and making me nauseous.

I might try replaying it on very hard, as normal was easy as hell.

Enjoyed the game, but I hope Suda's next game is more surreal and weird. KiD was pretty much very humorous akin to LP & NMH. I hope his next game is a serious/weird than funny/weird. Like Killer7 & FSR

It's not so bad. Unless you're referring to the PS3 version? I only saw brief parts of tearing on the xbacks version

Did anyone find the "Moon" boss hard? I really fucking struggled. Like, it took me forty minutes to take the boss down and I felt like I only got through ever so slightly. And my arm hurts. And my joints. T_T

This is very early on, by the way. Is the difficulty similar?

Oh and I fucked up the first girl mission - now it has a padlock on it? Have I missed out on that opportunity forever now?

Final question - do I ever get a chance to replay missions? My rankings are so abysmal T_T

Nah, the gigilo missions randomly unlock again if you complete a stage or two. You'll know when they call you during a stage or another gigilo mission. & yes, missions can be replayed once you beat the final mission.

so was the hour of gameplay/cutscenes shown in the giantbomb quick look just badly timed at the lull point in the game or is it like that all the way through?

cause i didnt see any of the charm of the last 2 games Suda was "associated" with, i checked out the wiki page and easily saw evidence that possibly explains of that outcome.

1. Suda only wrote this game and didnt design, produce or direct it.

2. he didnt write Shadows or Lolipop but was the lead producer on both.

since those are the only 2 non-XBLA/PSN games released on (relevant) consoles outside of Japan, thats the only body of work i can go off of, but it seems like perhaps writing isnt his strong suit, coupled with having no other role in the game.

sorta like making a Gears of War game without CliffyB, who left almost a year before it came out.

I did on hard

Not sure, I didn't struggle with the game after that but that may be due to me getting better and purchasing some significant upgrades ever since. He's the only boss way above your level, I'd say.

Nope, it'll come back.

Yes, once you finish the game just load your save again and you'll have unlocked some costumes to purchase and the ability to play all missions and you'll unlock very hard difficulty.

He's credited as Executive Director. Honestly feels like his most hands-on project since NMH.

What does everyone think of the Day 1 Edition? Is the soundtrack pretty good? Also, how nice is the artbook? I know some stores still have these.

Gaf census?
Worth picking?
This month i'll end up spending around 450 in games, so if this game is forgettable i'll just skip it..

It's definitely my GOTY and it might be my GOTG, I don't want to say that for sure until I've had a few more months to replay it and think about it.

The gameplay is solid and rewarding, very simple at first glance but there's a lot of depth to it once you sink your teeth in. The art and cinematography are among the most beautiful and striking in the medium, though unfortunately marred by some technical issues. The narrative is fantastic, but you won't understand a lick of it if you don't already have an extreme appreciation for postmodernism, metafiction, arthouse film, auteur theory and hokey japanese pastiche.

If you've played Killer7 or No More Heroes before and you liked those, you'll probably like this. If you've played DMC, Bayonetta or Metal Gear Rising and liked those, you'll probably like this. If you enjoy the works of filmmakers like David Lynch or Alejandro Jodorowsky, you might like this.

Nah, you haven't lost the gigolo mission. I think the padlock is there until you beat it at least. If not the case, probably just have to wait a bit to try again.

And you can replay missions post beating the game.

EDIT: Doh, saw someone answered already.

Suda's last two game are NMH and Liberation Maiden.

According to wikipedia he was the executive director and writer for SotD and the creative director for LC.

I'm at Mission 5 and what can I say, this game is awesome. Sure, it's not a revelation gameplay-wise yet I'm totally digging the whole presentation. Plus so far the humour was almost non-existent, definitely no Lollipop Chainsaw-style imo.

The most important question: How in the poop can I replenish Mondo's health other than via Crystals? Are there any health items at all?

Nope but you can use the blood healing ability.

Get those 30+ combos and choose the health finisher.

So just finished this up this morning. Loved the last boss fight (music mainly as I love it). Can't wait for the Two Best Friends to finish their playthrough. I want to see them explode from all the hype.

Really really enjoyed the game. Did every mission and side mission with B or higher except the motorbike sub mission. Kept taking too much damage on that one and not sure how to get better at it.
Story was crazy and the game looked fucking fantastic throughout. Loved the style and heavy shadows.
Game played great too. I loved the defenceless mechanics with the just guard and just dodge and the counters and I thought the third person shooting with the gun arm worked well too, better than I expected but worse than I hoped. Would have been nice to have some kind of lock on or something, especially for the drill.

Overall it's another crazy over the top nonsensical game from Suda and I loved it all. the gigolo missions were odd though. Guess I need to grind missions now to buy the costumes?

Quicker Cash farming in episode 1

Tip for farming cash (if you're not doing weight limit), during mission one on very hard you can cancel his gun fire by looking away from him. He'll only shoot when you get too close. It'll make you complete it in about 43-45 seconds. It's better than camping behind the dumpsters 5 times.

Edit: I should add a bit more information.

Everyone should know by now what the threshold is until Tokio starts firing his gun before running away. He'll shoot not at a fixed direction but where he last saw you (or where you last were before hitting that threshold). So cancel his gunfire in the middle or something, then cross the threshold either going left or right. Sometimes he won't even shoot pre-running but I haven't figured out how to trigger it. It could very well be possible to finish this without him firing a single bullet.

This method will always land you 43-45 seconds @ $544k, which is the most you could ever get I believe unless you glitch your way to the end of the level. I'm trying to hit 40 seconds but it's proving to be impossible lol.

Edit 3:

I made a picture to show where exactly the thresholds are. They're not exact but I'd say approximately sufficient.

ckIJzgN.png

Best thing to do is (and it usually is timed perfectly) to cancel his shot right near the threshold. Then cross it while changing your trajectory.

The red arrow is the exception. As soon as you pass the wall and see him, you're able to just walk along the middle. He'll always shoot to the right.

I'm having some issues in the Tiger that faded into darkness, it's probably because I don;t understand the mechanic right. So I have to get these things from certain enemies that you need to stun and then kill by using adrenaline burst, however after killing one or two of them I cannot execute them any more because whenever I press RT it goes into execution mode and then even if I make a hit nothing happens. Do I need to have a certain amount o fblood to do this? If yes then it's kind of shit that I can't get blood anywhere if I am out of it and fighting this guy.

EDIT: Nevermind, I found a way. Apparently I need to hit them normally when stunned to fill up the Blood bar.
