You have a point, and that's not at all what I'm trying to say (and not at all what I believe for that matter). That discussion belongs in another topic.
My point is, and I hope this does not get lost in translation, is that it's a hot button topic now in Video Games and it needs to cool down. This is GTA, it's not that GTA's DNA has suddenly changed. These games have alwyas been very misogynistic. So why yap about it now, and not in the past.

I dont really like that Escapist review. I dont care how the game does until it comes to PC so im not fanboying over it (in my opinion nothing will ever touch Vice City).

What doesn't make sense about that? He's saying people will look at GTAV and see how our society was structured, what we were into, how we viewed people, etc. Makes perfect sense. He isn't saying GTAV is as good as that work.

GTA has never been about the story for me so from the 5-8 hours or so that I have put into it so far, I can safely say 10's across the board are well deserved. If the story ends up being amazing (so far it is damn good) then that's a bonus. Rockstar are untouchable. Not even Valve or Naughty Dog are close to their level for me. I will continue to buy every single Rockstar game at launch and know exactly what I am getting. Congrats to the team on the reviews so far. Can't believe how much detail there is in this game. Goes above and beyond any GTA previously.
Well the real reviews still need to come out. Only the people that rockstar likes got a review copy.

He is awful when it comes to reigning himself in. He throws so much of this crap out in his reviews. See: Bioshock Infinite, The Last of Us, etc.

I don't understand the issue here, he's basically just saying that people will look back at GTA V as a reflection of what is happening currently. Like we look at a lot of past media to see what wasn't put in history books.
Granted, he does get a little wordy but I attribute that to his passion for the industry. You can tell he really loves games.

I do agree that it's probably being talked about more because of the change in the critical climate rather than changes in the game vs. past iterations.
However, I don't see why that means it shouldn't be talked about. I think the consideration of these issues is important for serious criticism, even if I don't always think people are doing a good job talking about it. It's a novel avenue of discussion for a lot of these writers, so naturally some are going to push too hard on it and make claims they can't really back up. They'll get feedback on that, and eventually they'll dial it back a little, but they'll still be more aware of it than before, which is a good thing.

I didn't say it didn't make sense. I basically said it was such pretentious bullshit, and he does it all of the time with seemingly every major game that comes out, that I have no idea how he's so loved here.
And no, no one's going to look back at GTA 5 like that. Except him probably when he compares 6 to Shakespeare's best work.
Same, don't understand how you can read that Sessler quote and think "WOAH WTF MAN?!" as some people are clearly doing.

Very disappointed that it seems this game doesn't have the nuance and maturity of storytelling that Red Dead Redemption, LA Noire and Max Payne 3 all had.

If you didn't want jaggies for a suspect framerate you should've waited for the PC release. Not saying framerate isn't a valid excuse (jaggies shouldn't be for console games though), but still.
