Watch Dogs PC specs (x64 only, Quad Core minimum, recommended 8-core and 2GB VRAM)

I've got a quad core intel Core i5-3570K @ 4.2Ghz and 8Gb of Crucial Ballistic ram.
I've also got a GTX 560 1Gb. I'm not buying a new graphics card unless I really have to.

you really have to

Shit like like Mantle couldn't have come at a better time. The price of these cards aren't matching the results at this point. There are guys with 780's that can't even be guaranteed 60 frames on BF4 beta. If you can't get 60 frames maxed while investing over 600 dollars in one piece of hardware this early on in the gen and it being one of the newest released pieces of graphics architecture out...

yea

64 bit only is very good news to me, its been long over do.

Even though my current PC won't have a chance in hell of running this game I am excited. This next gen bump will be very nice. The PC has been shackled by the 360/PS3 for way too long. When I get my new PC sometimes next year I will be in gaming heaven again.

The next gen consoles are just going to look like these games on minimum anyway, much less maxed at 1080p.

I'm unable to see the specs when I go to the Watch Dogs page on the uPlay store even after click "Read More". Must not be posted in the US store yet I guess.

Ordered a new PC and Watch_Dogs is definitely my most anticipated game of this year so I'm really happy to see it break through most of the "old-gen" restrictions. I'm a little concernef for my ordered CPU 4770K since it's technically a 4-core. We'll see.

Seems that the time to defeat my laziness and justify the existence of a Noctua NH-U12P inside my case and overclock my 2500K has arrived.

IMO, people shouldn't focus on the 8-core part of this. If it can look good on a cpu as weak as the PS4's, your quad intel and AMD desktop CPUs should be fine.

Jaguar is a laughably weak CPU.

That's completely irrelevant to my post, the point is the game is developed with code that scales well across 8 cores, this is a good thing for PC Gamers, you finally get to play games that are using all of your CPU, rather than having idle cores during gaming.

8 cores as recommended seems like overkill. Isn't it suppose to be pretty hard to program games using so many threads? i5s which is the enthusiast's chip in my opinion is only 4. It also does more work per clock than AMD. Will be interesting to see the benches and where the bottlenecks will be once next gen kicks off.

I'm going to hold off for as long as I can. Just keep dropping the resolution etc... Maybe in a year I'll pick something up. It runs all the games I've currently got on steam without issue.

Wowzers. These are cross-gen titles and already it seems like there's a sudden jump.

I wonder if requirements will plateau as next-gen exclusive games become more common place or if we'll see such a wide range from one end of the gen to the other as with the last.

To be fair, Watch Dogs was the first game besides Star Wars 1313 that was obviously next gen. I don't know if we've even seen the current gen version yet. That said, games are obviously only going to get crazier from here on out.

I agree. I'm just saying that people with desktop quad Intel/AMD CPUs shouldn't fret about the 8-core mention in Ultra.

Wait I have a 3770k ivy bridge and it's only four cores, not eight.

It has 8 threads though..i have the same cpu...that cpu is more than capable bro but you made a wise choice to go with the i7 with those extra threads when everyone just a mere 6 months ago were telling everyone a 3570k is fine for years to come! and the i7's were a waste of money...i always second guessed that bit of advice ...and is why i opted to spend that extra 100 dollars from the 3570k to the 3770k..i just felt that the extra threads would help eventually with next gen..let alone crappy next gen ports..the more brute force the better imho

Edit: While the 3570k is more than capable now..i have to question it in the near future.

Well, I'm at Uni at the moment so unless I want to starve and do absolutely horrible in my final year, I think I can wait until I upgrade my current PC and buy any newer games.

I have an i5 760 clocked at 3.8Ghz with a HD5850 and 4GB of RAM, that's done me well these past 3 and a bit years.

About this 8 core thing in the title:
Isn't this a bit of a red herring considering that one of the example "Ultra" configurations listed isn't actually an 8 core CPU?

I'd argue that Last Light and Sleeping Dogs are basically next gen on ultra

Maybe even BF3

The former two burn up videocards

Honestly, games are outperforming hardware at a frightening rate right now imo

I just built a 660ti/3570k computer last October and I'm already feeling inferior.

You'll be fine. (well...depending on your resolution and AA preferences of course)

I'm running a liquid cooled i7 920 and a 660ti. I'm not worried at all about playing at 1080p.

I think we've all come to the conclusion they meant threads.

So is the PC version of this game going to look a fair bit better then the Xbox One and PS4 versions?

I'm getting this day one, but I still can't decide which platform between PC/PS4. I can go ultra on PC but my friends all game on PSN...

So many tough choices coming up this gen. At least some games will be obvious for the platform I choose, Witcher 3. *cough, cough*

An i 5 is more than enough.
Fx 8 series are good cpus but are a bit inferior when it comes to gaming.
Btw this game is the new ass creed, so it will be the same unoptmized crap.

Going for ultra and will see what happens.

Got an OC 670 and a OC 3570k. Should get decent performance if I don't go mad with AA. I hope. I'm scared.

Reckon I can play it at higher settings that the PS4 version? If not, I'll take that one.

Currently polling second in Australia's federal election (first in the Gold Coast), this feral may one day be your Bogan King.
Probably worth noting that Watch_Dogs PC will have nVidia exclusive effects, at the very least tessellation. Same with Assassin's Creed IV.

I sure am glad I waited to upgrade my PC. The current "average" PC is really not going to cut it for "next-gen" gaming.

Will be interesting to see benchmarks.
