New PS4 Commercial During Monday Night Football (ESPN)

I thought it was good.

They're awkwardly doing what they're doing, because they're just regular people, having fun playing games together. They're not hard core gamers, there's also nothing about skill being shown. It's trying to emphasize people coming together with the experiences the ps4 offers.

I'm with Derrick on this one. The "Greatness Awaits" tagline slapped on these live action commercials that only the people familiar with the console/games can understand is quite pointless and frankly bad advertising.

I think most people in here don't realize this isn't aimed for the message board types.

It gets its point across to Joe Monday Night Football, and for that mission accomplished.

PS4 name and a release date. That's all they needed.

Nah, breh. They should have shown 30 seconds of Killzone and then ended with "8 GB of superfast memory."

It doesn't take someone who's familiar with the tagline to make sense of it...

PS4 -> Greatness Awaits. Doesn't take a genius to understand that.

Guys, I feel really stupid, I dont get who the first 2 guys are.

Is it an Assasin vs Barbarian from Diablo, or a character from Deep Down, Destiny maybe? I really dont know which games those characters are o_O.

y'all should be ashamed
Honestly, there's not a single XB1/PS4 game that you can put in a commercial that'll make a lot of people go WHOA, now that's next gen graphics!

I'm willing to bet a lot of XB1 commercials will play into the "experience" and such rather then the games.

I agree with both of you. My fiancée was asking about the tag line. She then asked if the racing game was like need for speed where you crash other cars lol. Thought that was funny that she took that from the racing part.

I enjoyed it.

For those of you bashing it and saying why didn't they show gameplay, don't you think this approach interests the casuals a lot more then showing some game graphics montage?

I liked Greatness Awaits a lot better

This had a decent idea behind it but they didn't nail the execution. And its not because they didn't show gameplay or any of that nonsense.

Hmm.

I think I may have liked it better without the singing, but I will watch it again. Not what I expected.
After watching the video a couple more times, I could say I wouldn't mind watching it on a regular (primetime) basis. It has a certain charm to it but, as I thought, the final ten seconds of the commercial is its best part. No vocals, all instrumental may have made it a better ad, IMO. I'd give it a B, maybe B-.

I would really love someone to make a commercial sometime, just once, that shows the actual product and features without some sort of silly commercial nonsense. Just give it a try. Show the console some, games, etc. Just once, please.

I bet many people saw that commercial, said "What the fuck is this shit?" Then continued to watch out of some backward morbid curiosity.

Finally, they saw the PS4 logo and launch date, then immediately started talking with some buddies about all the next gen stuff, rumors, 180s, specs, etc. It only took one gamer in a room of people watching the football game to get that conversation going.

Commercial successful.

That was unexpectedly good.

So far, the "Greatness Await" campaign has been hit with me. Good jon, serny.

What am I talking about? Two goofs in a bunch of video game scenarios that may or may not have anything to do with what's being sold here, which is apparently a PlayStation 4.

Even if I'm talking about the ad, it did nothing to make me interested in the platform. That, to me, misses the mark.

At the end of the day, you are but one person, not a representative of the human race. Its fine that it didn't make you interested in the PS4, but Im sure others out there would have had the opposite reaction too.

I thought it was an average ad, but hey its getting the word out to a different crowd that Im not classified in.

I really liked it.

It wasn't made for us super nerds, craving for additional hard details, it was made to be awesome and show (lol) how awesome the PS4 will be. That's hard to pull off, but it was fun, so it did.

That's advertising 101.

To be honest, I've seen way more PS4 commercials than Xbox One ones over the past few weeks. I can't even recall seeing anything Xbox One related lately on TV.
