No reason at all to be made fun of for this thread. It doesn't matter what you do to lose weight as long as you do it naturally and stick with it. Congrats for choosing to make your life better and keep it up!

My only disagreement with you is on exercise. You will likely not be losing any calories throughout the day from exercise. To lose even a few calories in that way requires extremely hard work.

That might not be completely true.
But i agree that at first the focus should be on calorie intake. Besides, why would you not want to exercise if health is the goal. And almost all weight specialist I've seen have used exercise. But it's more then just burning calories, it's also to create a healthy energy level and stimulate the many bodily functions, among other things.

My only disagreement with you is on exercise. You will likely not be losing any calories throughout the day from exercise. To lose even a few calories in that way requires extremely hard work. The vast majority of people are just not going to that. Exercise to prevent heart disease, to lower your blood pressure, to boost your energy, to improve your sleep, even to control your weight. But exercising to lose weight is, well, an exercise in frustration. It just doesn't play a large role compared to running a calorie deficit. Choosing not to eat that 200 calorie cookie is a lot easier than doing 200 calories worth of exercise (approx. 30 min lifting weights).

Yeah but something like P90x (burn 500+ calories) plus a simple diet that has 500 less calories than usual = 1000 + calories burned every day.(500 more than just your diet) Everything counts.

If your gonna lose weight, you might aswell get fit, you will feel happier, you won't lose muscle mass, you will have better bloodflow from a stronger heart, having a strong core makes all the difference etc etc Also more muscle = more calories burned per day.

Attack it from all sides and you WILL succeed.

High five! I did the exact same thing with Wii Fit!

I lost over 100lbs a few years ago! :)

Since then I snuck a bit of weight back on, but I'm nowhere near my previous weight. I started using Wii Fit again recently, and I'm going to go back on my old diet (which was basically a series of 'rules', rather than restrictions on the type of food I could eat).

For me the greatest gain of Wii Fit was daily monitoring and logging of weight. Also, I actually enjoyed how 'vague' the weights were. My weight could vary by a couple of pounds from one day to the next, and this ambiguity actually helped me avoid kneejerk responses.

My routine was 40 mins on Wii Fit's routines section, 5 days a week in the morning before breakfast. I also used wrist and ankle weights whilst I was exercising. It threw off my 'scores' in the games, but I got a much better sweat going.

LOL yeah I've measured on a scale several times a day, sometimes I can gain up to a 1kg from a big meal. Even taking a long piss make can make quite a difference haha.

The trick is to average it all out in your mind, then slowly over the weeks you will notice that the average is getting lower and lower.

That's great news man. Congratulations!

How did he afford that? Isn't it like $1 a play session?
I'm actually not sure. I can only assume it's because he still lived with his parents so he was free to spend every dime of his money all on himself.

Edit: I also remember him saying that he was cool with the owner. He would help him with things here and there. Probably got free games off of him, I'm sure.

Somehow this thread made me go from not caring about Wii Fit U at all to being excited for its release. I'm super pumped to work out on it and do yoga and run with the new pedometer and hopefully get my girlfriend to do it. I just have to convince her that it'll be awesome.

Wii Fit U was one of the main reasons I bought the Wii U on launch, and it slipping to December (or later, argh) is the worst.

Right, precisely this. If you check the Wii Fit Graph over the last month you get to see the week-on-week difference in your week, rather than dwelling on daily fluctuations.

Wii Fit tends to freak out if you go up or down a few pounds in the space of 48 hours. 'oh-no you gained 2 lbs! followed by 'oh-no you lost 4lbs'.

I'm getting a copy of Wii Fit plus a balance board on Saturday hopefully, and I'm excited to try it out. I'm pretty slender, but I'd like to be healthier regardless of my size.

Awesome! Yeah, a bit of regular exercise and keeping track of weight over a long period of time is healthy.

Wait a bit for wiifit u. It will have miiverse features and off tv play (which is a huge deal imho for wiifit)

Importantly, the Wii Fit is still just a tool. You have to do the hard work yourself.

It's very frustrating to see people dismiss Wii Fit because it's obviously doesn't do anything miraculous.

If I remember correctly from interviews with Miyamoto, the weight tracking is really the whole point of the game. I think people overlook this sometimes.

Just thought I would give this thread a small bump talking about the WII Fit U.

I am quite excited what it could bring, and November 1st, can't come soon enough.

If anybody else is curious how much I have lost now, Since the day I made the thread, I lost another 13 pounds, and it seems to be decreasing by the week.

I hope you guys can join me when the WII Fit U comes out, should be a dandy.

cheers guys!

That's awesome man! I know it had to feel great buying new clothes at your smaller size, and looking at yourself in the mirror. It's great you're sharing this with us too!

Bravo OP! Keep it off for good!

I'm about 40-50 lbs overweight and I've let my Wii Fit Balance board gather dust. I'm picking it back up and was wondering if my current stats and progress will carry over to Wii Fit U. Or will I basically start over from scratch?

Great job!! Honestly, Congrats!

The best part, is to see all the people you are inspiring, and will continue to inspire, thru your own journey.

Keep up the great work.

Awesome job dude. keep it up. Never think you're done at any point, always keep exercising, make it part of your life. It's the only thing that'll ever really help. Not eating, diets or barely eating, will only ever result in rebounding and becoming heavier than ever before.

I don't think Wii Fit was ever meant to be the primary factor in a persons weight loss. I think the point of it was to be a catalyst for exercise and for people to start caring about their health in general. Slowly people would become more active and change their diets as a result of Wii Fit. That's not to say it can't play a big role in someones fitness routine like it has for you.

I just think a lot of people expected a short Wii Fit exercise to result in weight loss (which is absurd) and when that didn't happen they deemed it shit.

Anyways, good for you OP. It's about time my fat ass got in shape too. I don't have a Wii U at the moment but when I buy one I'm going to get Wii Fit U. I hope it motivates me to finally stick with a routine. I've always been on and off with my exercise, but for the short time frames I keep it up I tend to feel a lot better about everything.

I dont see why not. Wii fit to wii fit plus migration was possible.

I'm excited as f**k for Wii Fit U! I've been using Yout shape - Fitness evolved 2013 on the Wii U since August. Its the first time since I was a teenager I've lost weight by only working out and not using some disgusting shake-diet.

Currently down from 105kg to 92kg. Game of the century for me :)

I'LL FITE YOU ON THE FIELDS OF SWEATY ARMPITS!
pm me if you want a Wii Fit U-Pal :3

I've gotten back into Wii Fit Plus recently. Cutting my calorie intake by monitoring my number of eating sessions and changing what I drink to mostly water. Doing around 80 minutes of exercise a night, with a calorie goal of 255, though I usually land around 300. It's nothing extensive, but it's enough to start making a difference. It's a rewarding feeling when your daily routine becomes easier to do.

Biggest hope for Wii Fit U is that it adds more aerobics options. Feels a bit limiting that your only real options are hula-hoop, stepping, and walking in place.

Heh, inspiring.

I've been wondering about getting a Wii balance lately, I need to lose a couple of pounds. I'm at 205 and I'd like to drop it to 180-185 at least, maybe this could help, combined with a better diet of course.

I just started cooking some descent recipes lately and I discovered that I had a lot of fun doing it too.

Grats for your weight loss, OP.

I'm tempted to get Wii Fit U next month. Had my final semester of uni lately and I'm pretty sure I've put on some weight as a result of being mostly indoors when I'm not at my job, so I might give the month trial a go to see whether I gel with it or not.

Thanks everybody, With a little bit of effort, everybody here could lose weight also.

Just need motivation, commitment and a bit of will to make it through.

Remember, just set a goal, 5 pounds, 10, etc

That's great!

I originally bought Wii-Fit Plus about 2 years ago and loved it. Worked a great bit for me. I originally sold my copy (though kept balance board of course) and figured the U version be out in March. Sadly I was wrong. Before the Summer began, I gained a good bit of weight from eating badly. Mainly just being like 30 to 40 pounds overweight. I became about 245 lb. I actually dropped like 15 lb of that in a month or 2 and started to look/feel better. Mainly from running, which I love. That was May/June. Even though I kept up the running, even pushed myself to run an 8 mile and 10 mile run, my bad eating habits got me again. Mainly candy... lol

Anyways, even with me very much looking forward to Wii Fit U, I decided to try something else and "new" again. I re-bought Wii Fit Plus for like $15 to get an extra month start. I've always been excellent at sticking to a specific diet plan (low calorie, running, atkins, etc). But always had an issue of returning to a recent diet if I recently got off it (break, vacation, etc).

With Wii Fit Plus/U, I'm hopeful to get back down to around 210 again.

I really look forward to Wii Fit U, especially that fit meter.

P.S. I hate the BMI stuff, always wrong for me. Even when I am a very healthy 210 lb, it will say I am overwight, when in fact I'm skinny/fit. lol (I;m a male 6 foot 1 inch btw)

Great thread! Keep it up!

I started running this past spring to lose some weight. I did a couch to 5k regimen. Now, with colder weather coming on, I'm looking to do something indoors. I'm probably going to try the XBone's fitness apps they are offering. I believe it's a year of free software.

I'm still not sold on the fact that gaming on my tv can have healthy results, but this thread diminishes my skepticism a little more.

You sir an inspiration. I also suffered from Acid Reflux and got into shape running daily about 2 miles on the treadmill. Its been helping losing the weight, but still not to my ideal goal. I might just start playing Wii Fit now :p

Thanks to you, I started using Wii fit plus and its awesome, but I´m still on the ropes.

I´m not overweight, but I don´t do any kind of excercises and this is great for me.

BTW, any of the wii fit users that knows a well routine to do everyday and use it??

I would be great to get some help in this kind of things since I´m a noob.
