FYI when the biggest MS fanboy writing for a site hints at issues, you know it has to be pretty bad news. Get the shelters stocked with food

Oh shit...

You need HDMI to get 1080p on the 360, it wouldn't do 1080p unless it went through HDMI. Component only went up to 1080i or 720p

I don't think you can get 1080p through a console on a TV with component.
Not true, the 360 did 1080p via component. Some TVs didn't accept a 1080p signal via component, though.

Fanboys will defend anything.

Does it make someone a fanboy just because they're willing to spend 500 bucks to play a reboot of a middling nineties fighting game made a developer with a lengthy track record of dumpster fires? That sounds perfectly logical to me.

THIS. Sony's financial problems made people believe they could not afford to make the PS4 competitive hardware-wise to whatever MS would release. I definitely remember that that sentiment was pervasive prior to 2013.

Yeah I remember that. That's hilarious. Do people know how much cash Sony has in reserve? People really thought they were too broke to make a competitive PlayStation 4, their flagship product. Amazing.

It means reviews go up just days before PS4 launch and if the reviews are favourable then people looking to buy a console from the store on day one might go 'oh I won't buy that PS4 out in 2 days I'll get the Xbox One, look this review just posted says 9/10 for that game it has'.

Only thing I could think of that isn't a negative on the console but a business decision by MS...

Well said. Could very well be the case

It's the product of corporate meddling and a rushed product at this point. I can't imagine some developers being very happy about it, especially when their tools are still a mess as well.
So the technical issues bish referred to are on the developer side of things?

Well, as long as the game looks visually pleasing and a generation ahead the resolution will not matter much. Fidelity with 720p last gen vs this gen will be significantly different. The only problem is that if it was Ryse, it would have been a bit less painful. That said, if pattern is to be recognized, one will see that only the games targeting 60fps are relegated to 720p so far. I wonder if it's an ESRAM limitation.

I live in Brazil but it is true in others countries? You can't cancel preorders 10 days before the release?

Here we can even cancel the orders after receive the product... you needs just to sent the product without open back and after that the company will refund you.
I think he was sarcastically quoting someone. Of course you can cancel preorders at any time. And in the UK you also have 7 days following receiving the console due to distance selling rights.

Conrad burning a lot of bridges and potential partners in the future. Maybe the man don't give a fuck.

Or maybe he got hacked.

here's my 2 cents.

CBOAT is saying that MS is having technical problems with their system, more worrying and potentially damaging than CoD and BF4 being 720p.

Some people are speculating its problems with the OS. And we know that the X1 already allocates 3GB of their GPU/ram for the OS.

What if they are needing more than that 3GB for the OS, and that's why games have less to work with, hence 720p?

this would mean less hardware for the software to work with, for the entire generation.

Sorry, that's not it. The OS doesn't take up 3GB at the moment - it's that size for future-proofing.

Also, it's the ESRAM that is most at fault for sub-1080p resolutions. You can easily render at 1080p with 512MB of RAM as long as the throughput is fast.

but that 3GB is blocked off from devs being able to use it. 1 GB for each of the 3 OS'. What if MS needs more, and now more than 3GB is being blocked off?

Can you still easily render 1080p with 512mb ram if the visual fidelity and effects have increased greatly?

Also, is this the first word CBOAT has typed without scrambling it like my breakfast this morning?

he doesn't mess about when he drops the word truthfact :p

What if it's something batshit insane like Xbox Live (aside from the Day One patch) not running at launch? I couldn't even imagine.

If you ever don't want something, return it and tell your bank you dispute the charges. They are savage beasts when it comes to that sort of thing.

I think it's interesting that CBOAT didn't confirm this rumour but instead talked about there being other [greater] issues at hand. I do not believe this embargo has anything to do with resolution differences. Likes Giles points out, if Microsoft wanted to hide this, wouldn't the embargo be longer rather than it ending10 days before the console launches?

So basically the opposite of GAF?

I find Gaf harder to follow. almost everyone is speaking in sarcasm, plus I'm new and there are like thousands members. I cant keep track of who is a sony guy or an xbox guy. who is a reliable source and who i shouldnt trust.

like recently i just found out that Cboat is the man on here apparently.

I don't know why this is surprising for some people. Xbone has a significantly weaker GPU and slower RAM, they have to lower the resolution or pare back the graphics to get the same framerate. The only way there is going to be graphic parity is if they intentionally cripple the PS4 version of games.

He already said he doesn't care. He thinks the truth is more important right now. Bless him.

I mean, it's one thing to not care about publishers, but slamming fellow journalists publicly, even if you don't like them, seems kinda rash.

But whatever, it makes for great entertainment.

Wildcard berths that can't beat teams without a winning record should have homefield advantage
With the recent upclock, is it possible they're having overheating/hardware issues as well?

I think cboat/bish/whoever should spill the beans on these issues really. There's a lot of people going to drop a lot of money on this console and if MS are hiding stuff, we should be told lol

The failure of Xbox in 2013 is going to be studied in case study form by business classes for years to come.

Mattrick leaving said it all for me, he knew the writing was on the wall. This system is rushed and they underestimated Sony.
