I am curious what has sand in all these games press peoples panties.

I would not be shocked if its something really dumb and only effects them like the XB1 servers wont be up until a few days before release so they wont be able to review games in a timely manner. Nothing really big that might effect the customer.

Then again if it was just that I think someone would have spat it out by now.

Something definitely seems strange with those tweets, I'm just curious to see if this information will ever see the light of day before Xbox One launches

Well, if it's over blown then they have nothing to fear and someone should put out the fire while it's hot. Silence is not doing them any favors and is usually evidence of something pretty damning more times than not. Either way, the so called gaming press needs to reach down in between their legs and grab them little panties in order to see if they still have a pair. If it is nothing, then prove it. All cryptic tweets from the likes of Sessler and Gies does is indicate that there is something to hide that they clearly want to gloss over.

What possible tech issues could actually arise less than a month before release? X1 games will be going gold any time now and X1 is already in production.

Microsoft done fucked up and had half assed development tools out and wasn't planning for a 2013 launch.

Don't worry guys Arthur Gies AKA the least interesting man in the world is on the case. Expect a really vague Polygon article coming shortly citing unnamed sources and this very GAF thread (brought to you by internet explorer).

I was wondering about the DRM disabling thing for the XB1.

One of the Microsoft guys had tweeted a while back that their DRM system (24/hour check-in, pre-owned game detection, etc...) was "cooked" into the XB1 hardware and that disabling it would require a really extensive workaround, possibly compromising other system security features too (like Mod-chip detection measures).

I wonder if that's the problem they are having?

Maybe somehow their band-aid workaround to disable the DRM stuff has actually impacted overall system performance???

Something is aloof in the game industry...

I get that Sessler isn't in a good mood here judging by the use of the word "surly", but he is somewhat coming off as a senile old man right now. What the hell is he even getting on about? "Truth to power" lmao.

Yeah, would not be surprised if the Gies/Sessler twitter shit is something utterly petty.

The press really needs to speak the fuck up. Seriously do your job for once. Have SOME integrity for once. This stuff is important. People are paying over $500 for a console and you guys have knowledge, but continue to stay silent?

Gamers got the DRM removed, and Gamers will demand and get the truth out of you.

Another megathread out of nowhere, I missed all the fun again.

I think it is safe to say that these rumors are true after several different sources have confirmed it. Maybe now all those cboat and gaf haters will also accept it.

Can't wait for the launch when cboat's other issues are confirmed. Microsoft really dropped the ball. After the whole DRM story I have to admit that I am a little bit 'schadenfroh', even though I like my 360 much and know that competition is good for is customers.

We are at a point that something has to give. Its like the information is leaking and something is about to burst which will end up being really benign or something which will be bigger than RROD for Microsoft.

All that very public *wink wink nudge nudge* twitter chat is probably just deflection.

If you know something that's NDA'd, why circle round it on twitter. Obviously this presumes logic, which is probably where I have gone wrong.

I get the feeling something unknown is coming, there are still many weeks until the new consoles arrive.

Those tweets don't help.

I don't know if Gaf can survive launch week.

So either Adam is making a semi-witty pun and wants to talk about the actual power of the Xbox One vs PS4, or he's being literal and can't wait to talk about the truth about the shitty things MS are doing.

Hi everyone i'm a games journalist and i have big new about the xbox one, huge news! Of course I won't tell you I just wanted everyone to know that I know and my jounalist friends know the news. I am a also a twat who desperatly needs people to pay attention to them.

If people know something they should speak up, this pussy footing and hem-hawing isn't doing any favors and might be in fact worse by causing rampant speculation.

EDIT: Not to mention it is fucking frustrating to sit here and guess at where this truth boil is located and how far along till it bursts.

Yeah I agree with this. It seems like there is something unrelated to console disparities that the press knows about that they can't speak about right now but it it would be very relevant to consumers. I'm hoping someone tells us sooner rather than later.

The fact that COD is still running a highly modified QUAKE 2 engine... and not being able to hit 1080p @ 60fps on Xbone is the biggest damning reveal of all. I can somewhat understand BF4 due to how bad it rapes even PCs... but COD?

Quake 3. But you can't hold that against them. All engines start somewhere and are "heavily modified" as time marches forward.
