How come PS4 version doesn't look blurry in this one?

Because PS4 version isn't blurry. That black dude head was just motion blurr and people jumped on this not even looking at rest of image where quality of textures are same.

What would be the advantage of turning off Anti Aliasing?
Less vaseline but more jaggies? I'm not sure it would look better overall.

If it's FXAA then there is practically no performance hit, so disabling would just be for those that do not like the blurring effect it gives the whole image. I personally prefer a smooth image, on PC 2xAA and FXAA is a godly combo for me.

apperently you can:

Here is same shot from IGN video showing that it is Xbone version that is blur not PS4.

This must be fake. Tell me this is a fake.

Edit: I just double checked with DF image comparison. Although the images seem to be real capturers from their respective platforms, the PS4 one has sharpening applied to the image afterwards. Still shows off the difference quite well.

So as a ps3 only owner and a soon to be Ps4 owner, the differences aren't that great. Looks like 3rd party comparisons from last gen, only reversed.

I mostly play 1st party titles, but it's nice knowing I'm getting the most bang for my buck for the occasional 3rd party title I do purchase. As far as first party titles, this just reinforces my belief that they will again be best on ps.

My brother in law will get this and I'll get KZ.

It was implied that it there is an option in the recently released BF4 on PS3. The issue is that they may have removed it coming from BF3(PS3)-> BF4(PS3 & PS4). Can anyone with BF4 on the PS3 confirm the option to turn off anti aliasing.

Sorry, reading comprehension fail on my part lol. You are right, seems like we still need confirmation for this. But I guess it's not too far-fetched that it will also have this option.

Is it possible the PS4 does not upscale games to 1080p, just like the PS3?
720p games on the PS3 are not scaled & look like shit. Your TV has to have a incredibly good upscaler to counter that & every TV being made now has bottom dollar scalers in them.
Comparatively, the scaler in the Xbox 360 is incredibly good & compares with stand alone scalers that costs $500-1000.

Next gen is following current gen. PS4 wilh no or shit scaling capabilities & the Xbone with incorrect gamma settings to make things look darker/higher contrast.
Only flip side is the Sony console is now the one with the small tiny advantage in 3rd party games looking better.

:(
There is a lot wrong with your post

In fact, because that shot is photoshoped as everybody can see.

Has repi or DICE confirmed the sharpening on Bone is from them, and not built in to the console's upscaling?

It's probably either an option in the scaler, OR, implemented in a shader by DICE themselves.

I doubt it's forced, that would be very dumb to say the least.

I don't think DICE has commented on it.

That might be closer to the original resolution instead of a 1080p shot of the 900p resolution. Looking at that, the PS4 game does look good. I might play it at 720p if I ever get around to it unless I can output at 900p.

Personally, the more jaggies the better. It gives the game that retro pixelated feel that I crave. Don't get me started on high definition!
Sarcasm

After watching both versions in action (multiplayer) the XB1 version has a shit load of jaggies everywhere. I think the DF comparisons are pointless.

Has anyone considered that even though they use basically the same GPU featureset, that the two operating systems may have different scaling settings configured by default? Or that developers may be able to override these settings to get more consistent scaling results, but that this is new hardware and they haven't exploited all of their options yet?

EDIT: Gofreak just did basically.

So i've been watching single player x1 and multiplayer ps4 footage. There is a significant amount of aliasing in the single player x1 footage. I could barely find any in the ps4 multiplayer footage. I am so hype for my ps4.

Ruh roh...

So the XB1 is the best version, even over PC?? How is this possible and why are the differences this big?

Rethinking pre-order...

Are you trolling, or can you just not be bothered to follow the thread? PS4 is running at a higher resolution than X1 with a more stable frame-rate. Digital Foundry royally screwed their capture process and none of the other sites have the problems they do. Read the damn OP.

I bet this has been explained before but someone help me out here. Why does the PS4 footage look like it's been blurred compared compared to the Xbox one?

So checking OP and skimming we're at a position where we know from sources such as JF that PS4 is definately the better version while "by accident" DF managed to bork their release on the exact same day in such a manner as to confuse the issue and in some cases raise concerns over PS4 version?

Don't want to sound like I'm wearing a tin-foil hat but the timing of the DF mix up is incredible. When I look at DF material while PS4 looks a bit better most of the time it looks off compared to other sources while XB1 footage looks better than other sources of XB1 material : so do we have a big mess up in material in general or a clear trend?

I struggle to believe that 900p isn't going to look better than 720p in motion pretty much across the board - yet the DF material seems so different in places between PS4/XB1 as to be alarming in terms of shadows, colours, apparent sharpness, etc.

From what I see I'll stay with PC even if it means spending more time with Origin but this is really, really odd timing.

??

There is no photoshop on that black dude head. It is just motion blurr. You can see how blurr goes from tip of his head and becomes less and less visible going down and as it reaches his shoulder there is almost no blurr.

That is how motion blurr works.

If PS4 version would be blurred like some people state whole image would be blurred including parts of his jacket or lift door. But they are not.

I'm guessing it's not forced. That sharpening is so blatant, and I haven't noticed it like in DR3 or KI.

DICE, give us AA options, and sharpening options if you really must use FXAA. Thanks.

1. The X1 version is still being baked (confirmed by Dice via twitter)
2. We dont know if FXAA setting is on/off/available on either next gen version (it's a confirmed toggle in at least the PS3 version).
3. :)

It has been explained right above your comment. There is so much controversy in these comparisons. Take everything you see with a grain of salt. Gamersyde is the only one that can save the day, at this point.

Just watched the IGN vid. So Motion Blur and AO missing on the XO version? What about depth of field effects? In that first scene where the guy is stuck on the ground in the sinking car, the background stuff looks better blurred on the PS4 version, whilst there appears to be no depth of field in the Xbox One version. Could just be me, or the sharpening differences, but it looks like a subtle DoF difference too.
