I don't think that's true. After all, they didn't make a Jak game for PS3.

I certainly hope ND keeps pumping out new IP every generation. But the cynic in me believes Sony would justifiably be able to demand they open the gen with Uncharted, because of what it has meant for them this past generation.

That's not a valid excuse. The game has a sizable amount of "platforming" in it, it's just automatically handled and requires no thought or challenge. So they don't get to hide behind the "it's not a platformer" excuse.

ND are using an updated PS3 engine for the first PS4 game, I wonder if it will look as good as some titles on fully fledged next gen engines such as cryengine/UE4/snowdrop?

Everything is going to be updated next gen. You don't need to start from scratch just because you are adding tools and a new renderer.

And some people don't get it, Uncharted has become the 2nd biggest franchise from Sony. Uncharted 3 wasn't as good as 2, but it doesn't mean Uncharted 4 won't be the best of them all.

Naughty Dog knows that they can't just do another one of these games again. If the main team is on this, it's going to blow minds beyond just graphics.

I mean, just look at the massive blowout success that TLOU became as a fresh IP, I have faith that they aren't just going to be pumping out samey mindless sequels. They aren't Ubisoft.

Yeah I'm hoping that U4 isn't just another Uncharted. It has to feel or do something different. If U4's just that, then I'm on that hype train. ND never goes past 3, so if they're doing another Uncharted, must be that they still have ideas left for the franchise.

Must say that after TLOU, I'm mostly looking forward to that sequel. There's a bunch of interesting ways they can take that universe now.

Get the B team on Uncharted 4, have the main team knock it completely out of the park again with a brand new IP like The Last Of Us.

Definitely make it a new IP from Druckmann and Straley, no dumb, unnecessary sequel to TLOU .... I would love that.

They can continue with the Uncharted thing as that thing always sells (and keep them in good standing with Sony), so they can continue to make more new IPs at the same time. I'd wanna see them making something without guns too, see what they can really do with their masterful storytelling that doesn't involve blasting people/things in the face.

The platforming is for noobs , they get to jump around in pretty looking gfx without it being to hard along pacing things a certain way .
It's sad but the truth i just hope they make it more open and refine the combat in certain ways .

Crash Banditcoot was never owned by Sony or ND. As for Jack and Daxter, maybe successful but the Uncharted series is on a completely different level.

That is what the Uncharted games are though, every series have their own pattern. I totally get people wanting a new IP, but asking for an Uncharted without the discovery of some old mythical object/city is like asking for a new Resident Evil without zombies.
