At what point did MS give him implicit permission to access Xbox live?
this place is like talking to a wall of hate. any amount of common sense people throw at it just gets swallowed and burned. whether you continue or not with the pitchfork waving, this will get resolved.
"You bought your Xbox One at Target? Why on Earth would you shop there?"So imagine that scenario, and the family says nope we are not buying a used console like we did the 360 and going through that again! We are going to buy a new one and pre-order! Now what do you tell this family?

If you get one 2 weeks before it's pubically available it wouldn't hurt. Not like the option of asking MS if it was ok for you to use given the situation was unavailable.Posts like this are making my brain hurt. As if we all need to think carefully before getting a product we bought legally online. Serious business.

Do we know this for certain?
How is that even a reason?
Why are people surprised? MS have been perma-banning people for minor stuff all generation long. I have no sympathy to be honest. If Amazon shipped my PS4 early, I'd honest to god not touch it until the 29th. I really do mean that, spending £380 on a console is enough of an incentive to not risk getting banned for using it early.

Talking about Xbox live in this respect.
He isn't being punished as all he has to do is take the console back, recoup his money and any expenses involved in doing so. He'll be in exactly the same situation as if his order had been shipped when it was supposed to and he could have legitimately expected it to.
Why people continue to support Microsoft is beyond me.
Continuing to fall on their sword after banning paying customers who got your console or game early, attempting to take away those same paying customers consumer rights. Yeah I've seen less dedication to actual family members. Why people continue to support Microsoft is beyond me.
I don't think Sony is dumb enough to do those kinds of bans. Why are people surprised? MS have been perma-banning people for minor stuff all generation long. I have no sympathy to be honest. I hate this as much as someone getting locked out of a game because of forums posts, that are linked to their game account. (EA, Origin).
It just isn't right.
The exact same thing happened with a Vita and no bans happened at all. There's established precedent.I would bet money Sony would not ban a customer if the exact same thing happened with a PS4.

It worked out of the box when they sold it to him. Now it has core functionality disabled.
I would bet money Sony would not ban a customer if the exact same thing happened with a PS4.
Don't care if you would be doing it for any other company. You need help.
Heaven forbid someone has interest in a product that you don't.
Pretty much. In the Verge article, it states another user who got one early, was told by Microsoft he could use it.
I haven't followed the thread but I assume he posted YT videos of his Xbox? That's what got his console banned? It was him posting stuff on youtube that got him banned. I repeat. It was the youtube stuff that got him banned.
If Sony rush deliveries a PS4 to him, all hell would break loose.
Do it, Sony. For the internet drama we all crave.
So it looks like the reason for his ban was the youtube stuff and not going online with his console. In that case then maybe MS have a valid reason for doing this.

Using a OS is different.People say this but they continue using stuff like Windows. If you can't stand a company, put your money where your mouth is.
Sony would take out the retailer. Like Lik Sang.
It was him posting stuff on youtube that got him banned. I repeat. It was the youtube stuff that got him banned.
Oh right.
Well I suppose getting banned for posting videos of it early is a lot more understandable than being banned for playing.
They'll send him a PS4 delievered by Banderas.
GAF servers - down till 2014
