Nintendo Direct for NA/EU coming tomorrow (3DS, Q1 2014 games)

Yay, going to let my class out a little early so I can watch it in my office. I hope there's a couple surprises, I'm not expecting the moon, just something we didn't know about that I might be interested in. Also, please no more delays.

Make them watch it with you instead.

I wish they would say something about Dragon Quest. NOA has been dead silent about that series since DQIX.

When DQIV, V, VI, Joker and Joker 2 all consistently under-performed I can see why they might be. DQX being an MMO and SE doubling down on mobile for the franchise doesn't give them much to work with either.

If they're going to show another Smash character, I'd like to think it'd be either Yoshi or a Zelda character.
I'd bet on Yoshi, he's the only character from the base N64 roster that hasn't been announced yet. And he's undoubtedly in, so it's just a matter of time.
+Monster Hunter 4. I think this is the sole reason there isn't a Japan ND. It's a stealth MonHun Nintendo Direct.
Entirely possible. The series hasn't done too badly in EU. I'd buy alone for the Online Play, only thing that's stopping me enjoying MH3U to its full. GAF games are going to be crazy!

Is it even worth they're effort to release it in the US? It's such a traditional JRPG series. I just don't see the appeal for a western audience.
Yes it's worth it. There's still a market for it even though it's not that big. Hell if SMT and Etrian Odyssey still have a market here then I know Dragon Quest does.

After all we invented the image of valiant knights unfittingly killing dragons with jousting lances. We deserve it.

I believe its the last thing in the world most of them would want; however, think I have some Microsoft fanboys in the class...wahaha!

I can't imagine playing a DQ game in English, it would just feel wrong. I've played every main game (and remakes) and most of the spinoff games in Japanese, my fiance' does not know Japanes so she played a few in English and I was just horrified at them (the translations/font etc.). Going to buy a Japanese 3DS next summer so I can get my DQVII on, stupid region locking. Then again, 90% of my games are usually imports so I probably should have planned on getting a JP 3DS to begin with.

DQ IX did pretty well. The other DQ games...not so much. With MAYBE the exception of IV, I feel like they weren't really marketed well. I played them all and loved them.

Yeah you alone are not indicative of any sort of mass market, weirdly.

Really? You don't say. ;) Speaking seriously though, there was a time when the DQ games were not commercially viable releases here. That's why I'm surprised IX did so well. What about the others in the series? Nintendo released quite a few DQ remakes on the DS in the US.

I don't know, if there's ever gonna be a Direct with new announcements, it has to be the November one, right? Seems like good timing.

Yarn Yoshi + Yoshi 3DS + Yoshi in Smash for Wii U = 2014 Year of Yoshi!

Just repurpose this year's leftover paint. Please understand.
