Media Create Sales: Week 49, 2013 (Dec 02 - Dec 08)

Principate

Saint Titanfall
I'm not so sure with the Vita TV doing nothing at its price and the regular 3DS selling just 30k this week, but who knows. Demand for cheap HW doesn't seem to be that big in Japan.

Vita TV isn't portable and the original 3DS is generally an inferior version of the XL (there I said it), a cheap price and a form factor close to the game boy may do well there. It's also doing very well in the rest of the world, so it wouldn't be surprising if there was demand in Japan.

Between Week 40 and Week 44 the Wii U sold 12,874 units (MC), and average of 3,219 per week.

In a single week last week it sold nearly 4 times that combined 4 weeks of sales.

Fuck you if you want to pretend this week's number was likely.

This kind of shit is what I expect out of juniors who have never been in a MC thread.

Also the PS3 might outsell Vita in the coming weeks.

holy shit lol

You've been hoping for such a Wii U bump just so you could post something like this huh? Embarrassing.

That pent up anger is cause from the other posters that constantly shit on the Wii U without even owning it or intend to own it. It gets annoying.

His post can do without the last line but oh well.

Happy with the Bravely Default sales. For an enhanced re-release that's pretty decent.

At least one country seems to have some good taste left

UK

What Bravely Default sold badly in UK?! That country's taste is getting worse by the day.

This one's the opposite of GT6 for me. I'm amazed that it has seemed to do better in the UK. It's all relative, of course. Poor thing has bombed badly.
Really unfortunate. I honestly thought it looked to be Media Molecule's first truly great game, and reviews seemed to echo that belief.

This is a sales thread. People can say whatever negative thing they want about a console selling like shit in this thread. Get over it.
not even 11k for geist crusher?

treasure am cry.

Almost forgot about this epic bomba.

God Eater doesn't seem like it has really grown that much and the holidays don't seem to be doing a huge amount for it.

Hmm, don't see as strong a line up here as there was for the price drop earlier this year.

I'm glad to see a little Wii U bump wish it had some more software releases to help it limp into 2014

DQ fans don't give a shit they will buy on Wii damn

Oh yeah, of course I was talking about the general Nintendo holiday jump, not only the Wii U.
Wii U bump is weird because it happened after 3D world, maybe the marketing finally has an impact now.

Nobody in this thread is getting carried away. What are you even talking about.

Refer to this:

There is always some kind of negativity around the Wii U. Can't it just do good this week and wait for next week before you throw doom and gloom around.

Sorry if people don't want to hear the truth, but if it jumps like Mario, looks like Mario, and talks like Mario, then it's a Mario (so to speak). These sales are disappointing. Encouraging, but ultimately disappointing. The spark of optimism reminds me of how Vita owners like Dave got excited when Vita had decent bumps only to get back in its coffin the next week.

Dude chill the hell out. I was just explaining why he acted out.

He can also say whatever he wants also. I also said he could do without the last line, which means I dont approve of it. Back off dude. My post was not aggressive so I see no need for your post.

That's pointing out the obvious, dude. But that was also true for the DS. 2007 -> 2008 was a major drop (I'm not even sure 3DS will drop as badly as DS did). It's a normal sales curve for systems that sell as highly initially as DS/3DS did.

3DS didn't surely sold that much initially. Also compared to DS in that timeframe, 3DS had a much stronger lineup this year than DS in 2008. For a portable/console is their 3rd year and strongest software dropping YoY is bad news whatever you paint it.

And I'm not pointing the obvious (the decline) rather that how high is this decline. I think it has been highly underrated.

Releasing it just 2 weeks after Zelda, might have been not the best idea either.

It is a fantastic game, and I'm not normally a fan of the genre. Unfortunately though, it's on a platform that few people own, most people don't want, and many others have outright written off. It was never going to be a system seller, so a bomb was inevitable.

It is a shame though, it's the type of game that everyone should have the opportunity to play.

The key is to enjoy the small bumps for what they are, and never assume you're seeing the start of some big turnaround. That way you don't end up pissed off a week or two down the line.

Maybe he shouldn't get so emotionally invested in a product then? That's a poor reason to post something like that.

Besides, depends what counts as "shitting on" the WiiU. If assessing it's performance in the market as terrible is shitting on it, well, you don't need to own one to be able to do that.

So I guess the DS dropping in 2007 compared to 2006 was "bad news"? I'm telling you the current trends are similar to the DS', but on a smaller scale. Make of it what you will but don't pretend that it is an anomaly.

People shit on the Vita all the time, and I don't think I'd tell people to fuck off if it sold well for one week. He shouldn't be so invested with a system that he takes criticism of it as a personal insult. Fanboyism isn't healthy.

I am not Cranky today, woohoo, let´s enjoy this for the moment!!

I knew SM3DW would have some legs. Just on word of mouth alone, being such a quality title I expect it to sell well and help sell Wii U´s too. Also it has had advertizing at last.

Off topic: I had not seen a game on GAF that was so hated when revealed that had so many threads/posts about it (DKCR TF).

I'll be sure to pick it up in the New Year. I just bought Dragon's Crown and Gravity Rush for my Vita, so it has to wait.

Well .. wake up Japan as you have two fantastic games deserving of sales. Mario 3D World and Tearaway.

Wii U's sales are disappointing in general, but after this year of sales, what would the Wii U have to sell this week for you not to be disappointed in it's holiday sales? The bump is sizeable. I don't know how the GameCube performed in the same timeframe, but the GameCube should probably be the (unreachable)upper ceiling for any expectations for Wii U.

Let the Nintendo fans have this.

There has been nothing but doom and gloom lately. Don't rain on their small parade.

Bu-but next week or well the 3ds is not doing ds numbers.

Let them have their cake.

Tommorow the npd bomb will hit and it will return to the regular scheduled program.

I wouldn't be dismissing some hopeful heavyhitters of 2014.

Besides the self-evident Pokemon Z, there is potential in Smash Bros. 3DS, Mario Golf, Kirby Triple Deluxe, Yoshi's New Island, and probably Zero Escape 3, Majora's Mask 3D, and many other first and third party games by studios who haven't unveiled anything for a while now.

Most of those aren't heavyhitters in the same scale of MH4, Fresh new Pokemon game or Animal Crossing otherworldly legs during 2013. The only games with the same kind of impact is a new mainline DQ and I doubt is releasing in 2014.

I can see why someone wouldn't buy Tearaway after playing the demo.

its 'fuck off if you think it was likely [to sell what it did]', bit different.

People are seriously over reacting to the word. its more of a casual phrase than anything.

Not a bad week.
Vita small increas is better than nothing, WiiU bump is honestly surprising, it was expected but i didn't expeced that much. Hopefully those two device ill at least old at those numbers.

VitaTV is a bomb, let's hope SCEA and SCEE advertise it and rename the thing Playstation TV or whatever. It could also easily fit into PS4 bundles since it's not that expensive.

Agreed, nothing to get so riled up about and subsequently derail the thread over.

Tearaway really needed to be out a year ago. Coming this late was always going to be certain death.

I don't think Vita TV is an apt example.
The 2DS is a cheap 3DS which removes function that nobody really cares about. The Vita TV is a screenless, tethered Vita that doesn't play the library in full. One is something people already want. The other is something of a leper. They're not really analogous.
Vita TV isn't portable and the original 3DS is generally an inferior version of the XL (there I said it), a cheap price and a form factor close to the game boy may do well there. It's also doing very well in the rest of the world, so it wouldn't be surprising if there was demand in Japan.

In what way is the 2DS not inferior to the XL though?
I know very well what the Vita TV is, but it is also the only console hitting that low price point (abeit without a controller...) which is why I mentioned it. I just don't know if the 2DS is something people want, it's less portable with a similar battery life and much uglier. I see it steal some of the regular 3DS sales and the lower end audience might give it some growth, but not nearly enough to overcome the decline.
