Xbox One sells (to customers) 2 Million Units in 18 Days

Such great news to hear strong sales numbers from both the XB1 and PS4.

Especially after years of doom and gloom articles from every tech site claiming hardcore gaming is dead and $2 touchscreen phone games are the future.

I'm honestly a little surprised to hear this so soon, and I own one. I'm glad to hear it's not doing as poorly as I feared. Still think the PS4 is gonna have a nice lead in a few months though.

Xbone is far from sold out in many stores, and this is especially true in most of Europe. They are very easy to find, there doesn't seem to be remaining demand above what MS can supply.

Xbone may not be sold out in all European stores, the opposite appears to be true in most of America, the xbone's biggest market.

The demand is definitely there, it's just that Microsoft is doing an amazing job with supply. Absolutely amazing. Whereas Sony has shit the bed with its supply. They fucked up royally with their supply

eh i think this is their way of getting ahead of the NPD numbers

If you consider PS4 significantly outselling Xbone a surprise, then: Yes.

In two weeks of North America and one day of Europe - seems like the PS4 has had a significantly better launch.

I was skeptical that MS was matching Sony shipment for shipment but if they really have sold thru 2 million to consumers in just 13 territories then I think they will have won or come close to tying the Ps4 for November in the US. We know the highest sales it achieved outside of the US was around a 170K after 2 weeks in the UK we know its at around 70K in Australia and in Spain around maybe 25K and I don't imagine any mainland European countries doing much more than 75K. So that leaves a ton of consoles for the US and black Friday.

Idk I can see it happening.

Lets not get ahead of ourselves. Sony hasn't said anything since the 2.1M and remember their launch layout was different than Microsoft's.

Pretty much.

Sony is still launching in 8+ more countries this month without any idea of how many Sony is allocating for those countries.

There's zero indication of how many units are still under back-order for PS4/XB1.

good number, but still can't beat PS4

PS4 did 2.1M with only 2 countries for 15 days, 30 countries in 2 days

You're writing complete nonsense, Sony were able to sell more consoles in the US than MS: It isn't Microsoft has had better supply, but less demand.

Seriously, how long are they going to push the "Sold out at most major retailers" narrative? Amazon has had them almost every day. Best Buy had them recently. I saw two in my local Gamestop yesterday. Great that it's selling well, but enough with them trying to create this narrative that you can't get one.

Amazon sells out. Then restocks. That still mean they are sold out. Just supply seems smooth so far.

Wow, congrats to those guys that's I lot better than I thought they were doing, thought they wouldn't have much more than the initial launch day million to sell for a while. They must actually be pretty close to PS4 then, begs the question why they had to drop those other European countries to tier 2.

Probably wanted to hammer the US market with consoles. The reality is that the potential sales figures in many of the EU countries isn't as large. Think Spain moving 80k PS4s.

Thats great actually

It was out in less countries compared to the ps4 too and both took around the same time to get to 2 million

What happened?

Was this sarcasm? If not, it's incorrect. 13 for xb1 compared to 1(now it's more, but I don't believe it's 13, it's Europe plus Australia.)

Demand is exceeding supply in our 13 launch markets

Really happy to see Microsoft doing great ! and at 500$...

A monopoly in gaming is never good so it's good that there's someone to keep an eye on Sony. Strong competition is the best for us.

I will get my system early in 2014, right before Titanfall hits ! I don't think i can spend this gen with only the PS4, Xbox One is needed in my house, there's some games on XB1 that i can't wait for.

Agree, but remember that Microsoft has almost a complete monopoly on PC gaming. Until now, I would rather support Sony actually.

I don't see why people are happy or celebrating. It was obvious both consoles would sell out; even the WiiU sold out. Scalpers bought all the consoles and will continue to do so; we have to watch what happens after Christmas, how many are returned, new shipments, etc, then we will have a true idea.

Whats this nonsense?, MS are going for Monopoly thats their business model, mindsets and goal in the gaming industry.
Sony are just on a Revival after the PS3 disaster.

People shouldn't get ahead of themselves. I wonder if both companies had a limitless supply of consoles at launch, how big would the difference be? I'm guessing quite significant.

I'm kind of hoping this is sarcasm, but you never really know. It scares me sometimes.

You are trying to dispute the absolute fact PS4 has had a significantly better launch. And personally, I'm not excited about bad products like Xbone still selling relatively well.

the Xbox One is an awesome product though. hate to break it to you. I fear for your health when March 11th rolls around.

You're writing complete nonsense, Sony were able to sell more consoles in the US especially than MS: It isn't Microsoft has had better supply, but less demand.

Sony also launched a week earlier. Think that had something to do with it?!

Microsoft DOES have better supply. This cannot be disputed. There are several people that work in retail and post on neogaf that have confirmed that Microsoft is doing a MUCH better job of supplying product. These same people have confirmed that the xbones are selling out shortly after being received. Better supply.

Just because they claim demand to be exceeding supply doesn't make it true: It's demonstrably untrue for Europe, but the US as well.

It's not, it's a bad games console with a really weak graphics card at an expensive price with a terrible interface.

It's plausible that the great launches are largely a result of pent-up demand from the core audience and we'll see bigger declines in sales over time than in any previous generation.

In other words, consoles could still be on the decline despite record breaking launches. I'm not making any claims about how probable that scenario is, I'm just laying out the logic.

Interesting points.

I've never seen this much hype before in relation to consoles, that's for sure. What you said can be true (I hope it's not of course) and may happen, you're right.

So, not doomed. Surprisingly brisk given the price tag
and the manufacturing yield problems lol

Still makes you wonder why the online active users are lagging behind PS4 for BF/CoD, is it just a Euro-biased sampling error or are One gamers gravitating towards exclusives more?
