That's very interesting, thanks for the images.

Street Fighter 2: Champion Edition is the real Ryu to me.

Such a classic figure in the fighting genre, hope that never dies.

Only reason SF2STHDRemix's animation looks so “bad“ was because they tried to keep it true to ST in terms of gameplay. Otherwise, more frames in the animations = new variables in the game and completely different frame data.

Still, any ST player worth their salt will still just pick the classic sprites option. :p Capcom should of just done two versions of SF2 in one for HD Remix. One as an arcade perfect release of ST and the other with Sirlin's shitty gameplay fixes and with new sprites and animation. No need to fuck it up in the middle.

personally, I like sf4 artworks. The problem are the in game models.
they look like something straight out from gears of war. Ken without neck is simply laughable.

The Street Fighter 2 portrait will always be the real Ryu portrait for me and these are how he should look like in-game for me.

More like how he hasn't changed.

Good. I'd hate to see what a modern design by commitee Ryu would end up as.

That aside, I was kind of hoping it would be about how his strikes changed over the years as they made Ryu more punch happy and Ken more kick happy to differentiate the fundamentals of the two.

Ryu. Ever the handsome fella. His SFIV designs have been here and there but SSFII and SFIII; those were amazing.

It was done internally by Udon, the artist is Alvin Lee.

Not just him though. Pretty sure a lot of the work was also outsourced at points due to the huge amount to do (and delays?)

Ultimately even the trace job wasn't amazing with inconsistent art. Not UDON's finest hour.

Yeah but i'm pretty sure Capcom has the last word on this.

So good.[/QUOTE]

This is pretty jarring. You can see just about every bit of motion is a photoshop effect. Hell, is upper arm doesn't even animate while he's bending his elbow

In Platy's long line of sprites, is the third one from Project X Zone? What about the 4rth one? I'd say it's Capcom vs SNK on NGPC but that's what the 6th one certainly looks like.

Mvc2 has my favorite art style amongst Capcom fighters

Bengus aka CRMK is a genius, such creativity, too bad he left Capcom and I don't know what happened to him after his departure.

Got to love Young Ryu in Marvel vs Capcom 2

]

That's the MvC2 guy right? He's always been one of my favorites. His stuff is amazing.

This has been my favorite for awhile. I just love it.

The Marvel Vs Capcom 2... Awesomeness.

My personal favorite

That's my Ryu.

BENGUS THE BESTUS!!

His best version is when he re-named himself to Akira in Virtua Fighter.

Would love to see the same thing for Akira's evolution. Another fucking classic, bad-ass fighting character.

The way he looks, sounds and moves in VF5 onwards is beastly. Like he's made from iron or something. So cool.

People hate on HD remix, but that game helped convince Capcom that reviving SF would be a profitable endeavor.

Am i the only person that liked HD Remix? Only way it could be better would be if there were more characters. I look forward to a HDR2.

To me nothing beats Alpha Ryu, then EX Ryu. I really like those designs, while sadly I mostly dislike current Donkey Kong Ryu :/

Actually, scratch that, this is best Ryu:

My favs for Ryu character portrait art has always been Super Turbo, followed by SF3 Second Impact, and in-game, Street Fighter III. Just too boss.
