NeoGAF votes: Most anticipated 2014 game (voting ends midnight EST)

You know what really blows? All of my most anticipated games don't have a scheduled release window. The Last Guardian, Gravity Rush 2, Mirror's Edge 2, Uncharted PS4, Final Fantasy XV - all are ineligible and I have to gloss over them... bollocks!

1. The Order: 1886 : We still haven't seen any gameplay footage, yet I'm insanely intrigued by this game. I like cinematic games, I like steampunk, I like pornstaches, and the screenshots seem to suggest it will play as a sort of The Last of Us/Resident Evil 4 hybrid. This will be Ready at Dawn's entry into the big leagues.

2. Infamous: Second Son : Not an Infamous fan by any means - I hated the first and merely liked the second - but this looks like a huge step up for the franchise, in the same way Uncharted 2 was compared to Drake's Fortune. It definitely represents the most wowed I've been by a next-gen game, from the hugely impressive graphics to how fun and super-smooth traversing around the city looks.

3. Dreamfall: Chapters : I rate The Longest Journey and Dreamfall among my favourite games, so this ranks highly by default, despite the fact that I haven't really seen a whole lot of it. I need serious closure on some plot-related things, and I hope Ragnar and his team will deliver.

4. The Evil Within : Given Mikami's pedigree, and given the fact that it looks like a conscious attempt to bring survival-horror back to the masses, I'm excited for this. Hokey dialogue and sub-standard character animations aside, it looks like it could be a genuine scary experience.

5. Murasaki Baby : A game that admirably straddles the line between the adorable and the outright horrifying. It draws ICO comparisons as you literally hold the hand of a freakish and defenceless little girl and guide her through a hostile world. My most anticipated Vita game after Gravity Rush 2.

6. Rime : Based on a solitary trailer, Rime has attracted a lot of attention, probably because it appeals to that audience of gamers who've enjoyed offerings from Team ICO and thatgamecompany and are hungry for more. It looks to be a seriously ambitious project from an unproven indie developer, but it's so darn pretty and ripe with adventure that I don't want to think about how things can potentially go wrong.

7. Watch_Dogs : I err on the side of caution where this game is concerned now. It blew my socks off at the time of it's unveiling, but has followed a downward trajectory since then, seemingly looking worse with every showing. It's wisely been delayed now, and hopefully it's to ensure that the finished product will be every bit as striking and compelling as the debut footage was.

8. Murdered: Soul Suspect : It's L.A. Noire with ghosts. That's all the reason I need.

9. Hohokum : Another quirky indie offering funded by Sony, but this one looks as majestic as it does relaxing. I don't know what the heck it is you do in Hohokum, but I want part of it.

10. DriveClub : My reasons for including this game in the list are shallow and superficial - it looks fucking gorgeous! It's the first racing game I've ever wanted to play just so I can drive around at a leisurely pace and gawp at the surroundings. Kind of like Journey, but with cars.

Honourable mentions - Final Fantasy X HD, Transistor, The Witness, Octodad: Dadliest Catch, Dragon Age: Inquisition, Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc, Everybody's Gone to the Rapture, Toukiden, Lily Bergamo and Velocity 2X.

1. Destiny- Bungie is my favorite developer and the concept of Destiny shares some similarities with what my dream game is. The fact that this game has the potential to tell so many different stories, can explore the solar system and beyond in the sequels (I think), and will be a 10 year long thing gives me a nerd boner.

2. The Division- If they can somewhat match the "game play" that was shown at E3 then we are really in for a treat. Ever since Gears, I have since fallen in love with 3rd person shooters. Hopefully this is just as fun for me as Gears is.

3. Halo 5- You know what GAF has been bitching about 343. Listen and fix everything and don't make the campaign boring again

4. The Witcher 3- This will be my first Witcher game I play and the first RPG I play in years! Looks beautiful and I cant wait to explore the world.

5. Titanfall- Could care less that the graphics dont look as pretty as something like The Division. This game looks fun and that's all that matters.

6. Middle Earth Shadow of Mordor- If I could live in any created world, it would definitely be Middle Earth. Cant wait

1. Destiny. I want something first person and persistent that I can really sink my teeth in to. I hope this lives up to it's potential.

2. Diablo III Ultimate Evil Edition. After co-op-ing this at launch on PC and being disappointed I'm really looking forward to comfy couching this one with the hopefully superior version.

3. Driveclub. Looking for a racer to scratch my itch, NFS Rivals hasn't done it, I just hope this doesn't take the piss with micro transactions.

4. Infamous Second Son. Would have been higher but AC4 and GTAV have spoiled me with open world action games recently.

1. Super Smash Bros for Wii U: It's the next smash bros, how could I not be excited? And it has megaman.

2. A Hat in Time: A return to open world 3D platformer collectathons. Finally.

3. Persona 5: Never played Persona before, so this'll be my entry to the franchise.

4. Watch Dogs: Looks like it's basically Assassin's Creed, but in the future. Hopefully the futuristic hacking mechanics will be enough to take it out of the hole Assassin's Creed dug for itself.

1. Super Smash Bros for Wii U/3DS - Far and away my most hyped for game in the upcoming year. As a Smash kid, there will never be a time where I don't get overly excited with the introduction and lead into a new entry. Seeing how Sakurai's attention to detail, drive to find or create new surprises within the roster, and content by the boat load design decisions are still in play, I feel confident in Smash 4 more than living up to this position. It'll only get better if the mechanical side of things receives as much TLC as the presentation.

2. Mario Kart 8 - Mario Karts before this traditionally occupied a position where I always knew I'd get them whenever it released or whenever I picked up my console. MK8 however looks like the first time I'll be putting down the urley™ preorder. Between the wonderful presentation, confidence in knowing the amount of playtime I'll get with that between friends, siblings and online, the changes in gameplay taken in MK7 for the 3DS and the promise of surprises to come like the Mario Kart Channel stream, I've really found myself itching for this game.

3. Bayonetta 2 - BOW DOWN. Queen is back and better than ever this time. Bayonetta was one of my favorite experiences last generation and as such, I am beyond pumped for round 2.

4. Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze - Sequel to my favorite 2D platformer of last generation with better graphics, more playable characters, David Wise on soundtrack and an extra bit of gestation time. Yep, I'm excite.

5. X - Really interested in seeing what kind of game this turns out to be. After Xenoblade, I am just about ready to give Monolith an EAD Tokyo/Platinum Games "can do no wrong" pass.

6. Persona 5 - Pretty excited to see where all the hype will go for this one. Also helped that P4 got so exposed and made me interested in trying/following the series for real.

7. Bravely Default - Really excited for this. Haven't played a lot of RPGs in recent times and everything about BD going back to various eras of the genre while having a really nice AkiYosh art direction is just calling out to me in the best ways.

8. Rime - The atmosphere and visual design is top notch. I just want to run around that island world and explore every nook. Here's hoping the character interaction is top notch too. I need more "playground" type games.

9. Guilty Gear Xrd - The amount of lavish I can throw onto this game's visual style is endless. Being in a genre I just got an appreciation for in a franchise I've always been curious about definitely sweetens the deal that much more. Still needs more Johnny, Baiken and Jam though.

10. Galak-Z - Really liked this one from just the first bits of release footage we got. The "psuedo anime series" presentation is great. It'll be one of my first few experiences with the twinstick shooter genre so I'm very curious to see how it goes.

Honorable mention goes to Gravity Rush 2.

1. Mario Kart 8: My favorite racing franchise. It looks incredible so far. I hope Nintendo goes hard with online modes and features for this game.
2. Bayonetta 2: Never played the original, but I adore Wonderful 101 and heard they play similarly. Also never seen so much fanboy rage over a game, so it must be good.
3. Watch Dogs: It's sad that it looked the best at its e3 debut, everything since has been a let down. Still hyped though.
4. Destiny: I keep getting Halo and Borderlands vibes from this. Very excited.
5. The Division: Graphics usually don't do much for me, but damn. Ubisoft knows how to show off a new IP.
6. Super Smash Bros. Wii U: Melee is one of my favorite games ever, Brawl was a big disappointment, but I'm still looking forward to this.
7. Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze: I've never got around to playing DKCR, but everything I've seen of this game looks very fun.
8. X (Monolith Soft): Rpg's usually aren't my style, but Xenoblade is considered one of the best in recent memory. Excited to see more.
9. Hyrule Warriors: Looks action packed. Need to see more.
10. New Halo: I loved Reach, didn't like 4, though still probably my favorite fps franchise.

1. Infamous Second Son : What can I say? I though Infamous 2 was one of the best games on the PS3, and Infamous Second Son is shaping up to be one phenomenal reason to own a PS4.

2. Super Smash Bros. for Wii U : I'm a massive fan of the SSB series, so this one really goes without saying. Now that I have a Wii U, I'm anxious to have something that makes my friends want one, too.

3. Mario Kart 8 : Similarly to SSB, MK8 is sure to make anyone who doesn't own a Wii U jealous, and those who do will be rewarded with what will undoubtedly be the most fun racing game of 2014.

4. Destiny : I'm extremely excited to jump into this new world. Bungie have already demonstrated their exceptional ability at world-building with the Halo franchise, and I find myself more and more intrigued with this one as more information is revealed about it.

5. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt : Although I've never played a Witcher game before, The Witcher 3 has me really excited to explore the vast world that CD Projekt RED has crafted.

6. Watch Dogs : This one has been a rollercoaster of anticipation for me; initially it had me really intrigued with the original reveal at E3 2012, and then they lost me for a while, but now with the delay and the awesome open-world showpiece that is Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag, I'm more excited than ever to play Ubisoft's newest flagship title.

7. The Order: 1886 : Ready At Dawn did wonders with Daxter and God of War on the PSP, and now that SCE have given them the opportunity to work on their own original IP, it can only get better. The Order is one of the main reasons I wanted a PS4, and I'm optimistic it will deliver on all fronts.

8. Tom Clancy's The Division : Similarly to the original Watch Dogs reveal at E3 last year, I'm watching The Division with cautious optimism. So far I like what I've seen, however.

9. Dying Light : Whenever this comes out, I'm in. Simple as that.

10. Sunset Overdrive : This past generation has taught me something about Insomniac, the developer: they're hit-or-miss. Insomniac, the world-builder, however, have a great talent. So far this game seems interesting, and it has me excited, but it could really go either way.

1. inFamous: Second Son - I loved Sly 1-3. I thought inFamous 1 was very good, I thought inFamous 2 was amazing so I have really high hopes for this game. Really, really, high.

2. Driveclub - A wild card considering the delay and whatnot but Evolution made my favorite racers last gen so, again, my hopes are very high. Chances of being disappointed are as well.

3. Dark Souls 2 - Kinda bummed it's not coming to a next gen console, I hope hackers don't ruin it on the PC like they did with Dark Souls 1.

4. Hotline Miami 2 - Hotline Miami 1 was amazing. Hotline Miami 1 was even more amazing, for me, on the vita. Hotline Miami 2 coming day one on the vita has my vita boner in queue.

5. Titanfall - I think it's going to be a bit light on content and really just be the base for future games in the series... but I'm pretty damn excited to play that base. Looks fun as hell.

6. Destiny - Wasn't really sold on it until I read the game informer article about it. Pretty damn hyped now.

7. MLB the Show 14 - Death, Taxes, The show being amazing. The only things you can count on in life. The image was so clean on the ps3 that I expect the ps4 to burn my retinas.

8. Project Spark - Any game where you can build stuff has my attention.

9. Rime - Looks like Zelda-ico. Color me intrigued.

10. PvZ Garden Warfare - I love shooters and I love when shooters try something new. Looks neat!

Not to be counted but games I'm interested in but either don't know enough about or think they won't be in 2014... The Order (looks cool, need to see gameplay), Uncharted (i assume it's fall but it's not official yet), Deep Down (need to see how it handles F2P), Quantum Break (remedy and delays are synonyms) .

1) Infamous Second Son - The fact that this is above #2 on my list should say it all. It is the single most impressive next gen game shown in any depth so far. Sony knows this which is why they're giving Sucker Punch the time to take a solid IP and catapult it into the top tier. It will be better that good.

2) Uncharted PS4 - I'm fairly certain this is Sony's big Q4 14 release. Everything we've heard indicates the game is deep into development and much farther on than they're letting on. Other than that its Naughty Dog (imho the single best developer/studio around) and its a action/adventure TPS so what's not to like.

3) Halo 5 - Like Uncharted we've seen nothing of the game. I'm still convinced it will be good. Microsoft know it has to be. It's the only reason I bought an Xbox One.

4) Destiny - I'm excited to try it as a gamer (we can never have too many Mass Effect style hard sci fi games). I'm even more excited to see it as an analyst covering the space for a hedge fund. It has the potential to change the way games are made, marketed and monetized.

5) The Order 1886 - I'm extremely interested in what little we've seen. I also like the focus on getting the single player right in an age where every one wants to make everything multiplayer/social. RAD's PSP games were great and I have confidence they'll make the transition to the big leagues with style.

6) Star Citizen - I'm probably not even going to play the game unless it comes out on console because I have no PC capable of running it. What excites me about it isn't the game as much as the idea that it could single handedly revive the Space sim genre. If it succeeds as much as a game as it has as an idea and business model you can bet on big budget AAA space sims making a comeback on consoles.

7) GTA V PS4 - We all know its coming in 2014. My PS3 died at the hand of "friends" that borrowed it to play TLOU so I've only been able to play a few minutes of it on a friends 360. I can't wait to finally play it.

8) The Witcher 3 - It's third person, it has real time combat, its open world and its gorgeous. This game has the potential to suck more time out of my life than anything else.

9) Super Smash Bros - Another Smash. That is all.

10) Octodad Dadliest Catch - I loved the previews and cant wait to give this a try. We need more funny games and this looks to fit that bill.

1. Grand Theft Auto V PC : had a blast on PS3 but purposely never got all i could out of it, cannot wait to replay it and really dig into it on PC. It tops my list simply because I know what to expect content wise, unlike these other games.

5. Everybodys Gone to the Rapture
6. The Division

Not looking forward to many really.

1. Persona 5.
2. Stonehearth

IF they get localised
.
3. Dragon Quest VII ... >.>
4. Puzzles and Dragons Z
5. Fantasy Life

  1. Super Smash Bros. for Wii U & 3DS:

My favorite franchise of all time. Plus the only fighting game that I will defend to the grave.

  2. Infamous: Second Son:

Infamous 1 & 2 were great, but I always thought Cole was a bit boring, Deslin looks like a huge step up in terms of personality. The game looks absolutely gorgeous and Deslin's powers seem to be more versatile than Cole's. Plus it's the reason I 'll be getting the PS4 bundle Day 1.

  3. Professor Layton vs Ace Attorney Phoenix Wright:

Two of the handheld's greatest characters in one game that I always knew in my heart that I wanted, you are darn Wright I want it. Plus, Maya's back!

  4. Trails in the Sky: 2nd Chapter:

This is a sequel to the PSP's best JRPG. The story, characters, battle system and characters were all terrific. Plus, I've been waiting for this to be announced ever since I finished the first one back in 2011.

  5. Mario Kart 8:

My favorite racing franchise of all time. Plus the only racing game that I will defend to the grave.

  6. Kingdom Hearts 2.5 HD ReMIX:

These are the best Kingdom Hearts games (excluding Re:Coded) so Of course I'm happy to get my drive form on as well as see Master Xehanort, Aqua & Ven on the big screen in all their HD glory. Plus, dat rearranged Yoko music.

  7. Trigger Happy Havoc: Dangan Ronpa:

I played the fan translation and loved it more than I did Virtue's Last Reward. All of the characters are likable to some degree and with the new option to spend more time with them, I have all the more reason to get this Vita port. Plus, I REALLY want NISA to bring over the sequel in 2015.

  8. Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition:

Tomb Raider was my GOTY this year, so having a completely redone "HDer(?)" version makes me want a PS4 even more. Plus.....I got nothin. I just want it.

  9. South Park: The Stick of Truth:

While the gameplay doesn't look all that great from what I've seen, It's south Park. So even if it doesn't play all that well, it's like getting a 30+ hour episode of the show, so that's worth the $60. Plus, I get to explore South Park in it's entirety.

  10. Tales of Xillia 2:

I have yet to finish the first one, but I've played enough to want the sequel. Some of the characters' voices aren't all that well done (Milla & Elize) but as they won't have as much screen time (I Think) it could be for the better. Plus the battle system looks like it has been improves since the first one.

Destiny (PS4)
MGS5 (Ground Zeroes and is PP do 2014 as well)
The Witcher 3 (PS4)
Diablo 3 Expansion (PC)
Dark Souls 2

Destiny continues to blow me away. MGS5 is almost a tie, but I haven't seen MGO yet to make a call if it's #1. Destiny however is making me nerdgasm and I can't wait to get lost in it. I truly believe Bungie is making the next "it" game or next big thing with Destiny to finish the CoD era, and the Halo era before it.

This thread is already an unsalvageable mess of people listing games that aren't coming out in 2014 and some even listing games that aren't even announced.

1. Witcher 3: Because it will be the greatest.

2. Monolith Soft's X: Xenoblade was my favorite RPG of the last generation. So, duh.

3. Dark Souls 2: Dark Souls 1 was the shit. I want more of it.

4. The Witness: Braid was fucking awesome. I'm ready for more Blow in my life.

5. InFamous Second Son: Really liked the first game. Need something to play on my PS4.

6. Titanfall: Well, CoD Ghosts sucks and BF4 has issues. Need some shooter in my life.

7. South Park: I like South Park, I like RPGs. Done.

8. Castlevania 2: Didn't really like the first. Still hyped for this. I don't know why.

1. Smash Bros. Wii U; Playing this with friends is always great. We still gather to play Brawl.
2. Smash Bros. 3DS
3. Bravely Default
4. Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright
5. Danganronpa
6. Lightning Returns: FInal Fantasy XIII; Long live the queen.
7. The Witcher 3
8. X
9. Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze
10.Tales of Xillia-2

1. X : Xenoblade was one of my top games of the past generation, so no doubt the teams next project will be heavily anticipated. I'm just hoping when we learn more of the game I'm not let down.
2. Super Smash Bros. for Wii U : Smash is always one of my most played games each generation. This is one game that will be brought out whenever people come over, and it'll stay that way until the fifth Smash is released for Nintendo's NEXT system.
3. Bayonetta 2 : I much preferred W101's style to Bayo, but Bayonetta was still a fun game, so I'm definitely looking forward to the sequel, especially at 60 fps as I could only play the first on PS3.
4. Mario Kart 8
5. Kingdom Hearts 2.5 HD Remix
6. Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes
7. Hyrule Warriors

Persona 5 would slot in around 3 or 4, but a western release for that will no doubt be 2015, and even Persona Q I have doubts about hitting in 2014 in PAL regions (thanks, region lock).

1. Persona 5: I've been waiting for this game since I finished Persona 4 back in 2009. It's almost hard to believe that it's finally happening and I can't wait to fall in love with another mainline Persona game. (Winter 2014 - Japan)

2. Persona 4: The Ultimax Ultra Suplex Hold: Persona 4 Arena is my favorite fighting game ever and I'm so glad that it's getting a sequel. I just hope the story's handled well, since all of the gameplay related changes seem great so far. (Summer 2014 - Japan)

3. Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN-: The most beautiful fighting game I've seen and I'm looking forward to having a new fighting game to play on the PS4. (Winter 2014 - Japan)

4. Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth: I've yet to play an Etrian Odyssey game, but it's Persona and it looks interesting enough. (June 5, 2014 - Japan)

5. Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney: I'm happy that this is getting localized, unlike Ace Attorney Investigations 2. After Ace Attorney 5, I'm less excited by this game, but it's still Phoenix Wright so I'll probably have a good time with it. (Q2 2014 - NA)

6. Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc: People say a lot of good things about this game. I've been avoiding a lot of media about it and I'm not exactly certain how the game is played, but I'll finally be able to see whether the game's worth the hype or not for myself. (February 11, 2014 - NA)

7. Conception II: Children of the Seven Stars: Another game I'm glad that's being localized, and by Atlus no less. The reason I was interested in the first game is because it reminded me of the Persona series, and people have had some good things to say about this game. (Q2 2014 - NA)

8. Super Smash Bros. 4: It's Super Smash. As long as it doesn't have shit online, I'm in. (2014 - NA)

9. Steins;Gate: I watched part of the anime and then stopped when I realized that the game came first. This will probably be the first localized full on visual novel I purchase, but the premise looks interesting enough that I'm willing to try it out. (Q1 2014 - NA)

A lot of these games are localizations, which is nice to see. It's good when we get to play good games that were previously only released in Japan.

Edit: Just realized that all of the 2014 games I'm most excited for originate from Japan. Interesting.

I don't have a lot of time to play these days, but here's the list of what I'd like to play if I had the time.

1. TitanFall - really hoping that Respawn can reinvent what has become a tired genre.

2. The Division

3. Pillars of Eternity

4. Diablo: Reaper of Souls

5. Halo 5

6. Destiny

7. Star Citizen - I think this is 2014

8. Wasteland 2

That's all I got.

1. Persona 5: Fell for Persona at P3 FES and the series has not let go since. A long time coming, maybe too long, and with next to no info out there who knows what it ends up being - but man, Persona 5 will be out (in Japan) next year and that's an awesome thing to say.
2. The Witness: Way into everything about this game. A dense, puzzle filled world of atmosphere and secrets I can't wait to get lost in.
3. Broken Age: Backed the prospect of Double Fine Adventure! on Day 1 and have been following its development thanks to the raw and groundbreaking documentary series and development posts being produced alongside throughout. The game itself will probably be special, but even if not having a window from blank page to final product has made me more invested in this project than any number of PR controlled interviews or trailers ever could.
4. The Witcher 3: The final chapter to one of the best modern RPG series going. Scale and detail stands to be almost overwhelming if they deliver on their promises, and going by the significant leap from TW1 to TW2 I believe they can. Geralt has a smart looking beard.
5. Transistor: That early demo footage clicked for me immediately. I have full faith that Supergiant is currently hard at work on a cool, gorgeous looking game that lots of folks are gonna really like.
6. Tex Murphy: Tesla Effect: Another one I backed on Kickstarter. Still can't quite believe we're getting a new Tex Murphy game in 2014, and I probably won't until it arrives, but oh how sweet that day will be.
7. South Park: The Stick of Truth: Seems like they're on the road to nailing the South Park meets Paper Mario pitch that sounded so enticing on paper. I will play this video game.
8. Star Citizen: The one we probably know the least about outside of P5 but the concept alone has captured my imagination (and many others). Could be the ultimate space sim when all is said and done, time will tell.
9. Galak-Z: The other space game I can't wait to play. A mashup of cool genres and styles that, once I had my "aha!" moment, appeared to be right up my alley.
10. Infamous: Second Son: Try not to fall prey to the hype machine, but man those trailers are impressive. Looks beautiful and fun to play, if previous titles in the series are any indication.

1. Persona 5 - Even though this almost definitely won't be localized in 2014, I have to list it as my number one as it is probably my most anticipated game ever. (I hope they don't change the formula from 3/4 too much)

2. The Witcher 3 - Geralt is awesome, the story is awesome, CD Projekt are awesome. And I love RPGs.

3. South Park: The Stick of Truth - I am a huge South Park fan, and the fact that Matt & Trey are writing it makes me so excited. The gameplay looks like Paper Mario and it looks like a pretty deep RPG.

4. Dragon Age: Inquisition - The Quanri are a playable race. That is enough for me :p

5. Destiny - Bungie are pretty great, and this game will probably force me to get a next gen console.

6. Dead State - I just really want a zombie RPG. I have faith in this as Brian Mitsoda (Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines) is working on it.

7. Dark Souls 2 - Only just gotten into Dark Souls after giving up on it back in July. But 80 hours later I'm ready for the sequel! Just can't decide on the platform.

8. Halo 5 - I have read most the books, and played every game. But this is number 8 just because it is going to have to blow me away for me to shell out around £500 to play it. It is the only Xbox exclusive I care about, and I'm kinda done with MP in general so I could just watch a LP of it for the story.

9. The Banner Saga - I have already preordered it on Steam. The art is amazing, and I've played the MP stand a lone so I know the gameplay is good. It's being described as Game of Thrones esque so I'm looking forward to January!

10. Hotline Miami 2 - I think if you took the soundtrack away from 1 I would not have enjoyed it. So I'm looking forward to some more purely for the soundtrack. I'm also struggling to choose a game for number 10 tbh.

That requirement not to list games without a firm date is pretty rough. I had to drop some games because of that restriction.

1. The Witness: This has the most hype because I want to see what Blow means when he says The Witness will have an language that will make puzzle gaming intuitive like playing any other game. If he's doing what I think he's attempting and pulls it off he'll be a frelling genius that will be placed far above a bunch of game designers I admire.

2. Dreamfall Chapters: Dreamfall represents some of the best adventure gaming I ever had. I had to back this game on kickstarter and out of all my funded games this is my most anticipated.

3. Watch Dogs: The gameplay looks completely groundbreaking and novel. The only thing that cools my enthusiasm is that I'll have to upgrade my PC to fully enjoy it but it is the game of 2014 that is convincing me to make the necessary upgrades

4. Paranautical Activity: I didn't even know of this game till last week and it shot up instantly to be among my most anticipated for 3 reasons. It plays like Quake instead of Call of Duty. It is a roguelike game, a genre I was clueless about till a month ago when I brought the amazing Android game Pixel Dungeon. It's monster design is surreal for a shooter, making me feel like it is classic NES sidescroller with the same difficulty but now translated into a 3D plane. I just might reach the same level of awe and elation I achieved when I first got around to playing Mario 64 as a kid.

[edit]
5. Evil Within: The lead designer of Resident Evil 1 (the best survival horror game in history) is coming out of retirement to show up how badly everyone has gotten off the rails on this genre? Fuck yes.
[/edit]

6. Hyper Light Drifter: Fucking gorgeous. Totally bad ass.

7. The Crew: This is going to be a very interesting year for racing games because I have ignored both the simulation and arcadey style games for decades, Mario Kart notwithstanding. I'm very interested in the online group play and I'm hoping the customization process is as indepth as they implied it is where various parts more complex but barely bigger than nuts and bolts can be accounted for. I also want to see if they can pull off making such a deep customization system accessible.

[edit]
8. X: Xenoblade was the best swan song for any console. This won't convince me to get a Wii U over a PS4 in the future but it will make that decision very hard. This game's ability to grab my interest even though I'm put off by the console (I owned Wii last gen and wanted refinement of that this gen, not an unsupported tablet) is commendable.
[/edit]

9. Shovel Knight: I've seen more beautiful and complex looking platformers but this game has always stayed in the back of my mind as something I should play.

10. Castlevania Lords of Shadows 2: I was always curious about the first game but since it was on consoles I didn't own I watched a Let's Play of the entire game. I really like what I saw and it convinced me to get LoS2 if I have it on a platform I own. Months later the PC announcements started rolling in for the original game as well as the sequel which has shot this up to a must buy.

The following don't have a firm release date but I'm highly anticipating these more than some of the above with firm release dates.

Everquest Landmark - Totally captures my imagination. I'm really impressed with how Sony is trying to innovate on the MMO genre.

Game of Thrones - Finally a GoT game that should have the political machinations of the series in gameplay format. Since Telltale won Game of the Year at the VGAs and people to this day have raved about TWD I'm convinced this will be awesome.

[edit]
Shinobi said two games I thought were ineligible actually are fine so these are being removed and noted as honorable mentions.

Among the Sleep: I'm a big fan of that art style to force a perspective through a toddler's mind and sight. There's no way I'm avoiding this horror exploration game. It would have to get a metacritic score below 60 before I'm even phased about possibly buying a bad game.

Stonehearth: There are games that would never make this list that I know a lot more about and actively follow. I've only read the neogaf OT once and I was already convinced to be on the look out for it when it's released. Now that I'm thinking about it I'm mulling over whether or not I should pre-order it to gain access to that early alpha.

1. Persona 5
2. The Division : Upon further introspection I can't really tell exactly why I'm so intrigued by this game. There were little hints of things in the original gameplay trailer that made me really excited, not for what was already there but for the potential of more. Whether Ubisoft can capitalize on that and deliver what I would want out of the game is yet to be seen.
3. Metal Gear Solid V
4. Witcher 3
5. Deep Down
6. Destiny
7. Transistor
8. Uncharted 4 : I'm not excited about this title so far but it is one of the VERY few guaranteed Day One purchases I'll make. Naughty Gods haven't led me astray so far and I'm hoping for this to continue this generation.
9. Lily Bergamo : Suda51? Bought.
10. Massive Chalice

Uncharted
Destiny - For the love of god please be good!
Diablo III: Ultimate Evil Edition - Cannot wait to dive into this with the Crusader class
The Order: 1886
Driveclub - Best looking racer to date!
Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain
Rime
Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty
Watch Dogs

1. Watch_Dogs : This game has everything I want in a video game. Interesting story, action filled gameplay, and innovative game mechanics. Also, I'm in it. ;)

2. Halo : What else is there to say? It's a Halo game and I haven't been disappointed yet. I'm a huge Halo fangirl so I'm pumped for this.

3. The Division

4. Titanfall

1. Dark Souls 2: The sequel to my most favourite games of all time, Demons/Dark Souls. The Souls franchise brings back the old school gameplay to the modern era

2. Infamous Second Son: Can't wait to see what the power of PS4 can do for this franchise

3. The Order 1886: I'm very intrigued with what this new franchise may bring

4. The Witcher 3: Never played any previous games, but if the gameplay is half as good as the Souls games, then count me in

5. Yaiba Ninja Gaiden Z: Don't care what anyone sez, I'm hyped for this crazy game

The Evil Within and X are both scheduled to be released some time next year, so you can add them into your list.

Here's mine. It's full of rpgs and my personal kickstarter darlings.

1. Dark Souls 2 : More Souls. What can I say, I need this now.
2. Wasteland 2 : whether you've been waiting for this since Fallout 2 or since original Wasteland, I say that's long enough.
3. The Witness : I want to play a Myst style puzzle adventure set in a huge deserted islad and I trust Blow to deliver just that.
4. Divinity: Original Sin : I love both Divinities and I love Ultima VII. I'm gonna love this.
5. Hyper Light Drifter: This game was beautiful by the time of the Kickstarter and it's only got even more beautiful since. And That music..
6. Grimrock 2: The original was great, the one they're cooking now will have outdoors levels and multiple dungeons.
6. Pillars of Eternity : 2014 = RPG heaven confirmed
7. Lords of Xulima : Yet another kickstarter rpg, this one should scratch that classic Wizardry itch..
8. Might & Magic X : and so will this one
9. A Hat In Time : Attempting to revive the collectathon platformer, looking sweet.
10. Binding of Isaac Remake : The original was full of potential.

Do people not read the instructions???

Use colon between title and description; not semi-colon, not dash, not period; USE COLON, otherwise your vote won't be valid

1. Wasteland 2 : Most anticipated sequel ever for me...like twenty-six years in the freakin' making.
2. Dead State : Most anticipated zombie game that may never complete production...also looks more true to the classic focus of the concept than any other.
3. D4 : Dark dreams don't die, an adventure that I hope lives up to the greatness of Deadly Premonition.
4. The Pinball Arcade Season 3 - My hopes are high for FarSight's team to recreate tons of classic 80s EM tables.
5. new Halo : Might be my last Halo if they mess it up again, but I still have to hope for a return to basics that made me care in the first place.
6. Below : What's not to love about the idea of co-op exploration and adventure?
7. Galak-Z : My real reason to own a PS4.
8. TitanFall : I saw it and it looks really fun.
9. Devil's Third : Itagaki better deliver after all of this time.
10. Project Spark : Perhaps the most next-gen product yet shown and looks fun to just mess around with.

1. Dark Souls II : All signs point to this being one of the best games of all time.
2. Witcher 3 : Witcher 1 and 2 were great but seemed like they lacked something. A full open world sounds incredible.
3. Super Smash Bros Wii U : My body is ready. Best fighting game series. (Other than MK)
4. Diablo Expansion : I have high hopes that they fixed the problems in 3.
5. Deep Down : I hope this is a fun coop dungeon crawler.
6. MGSV : MGS is awesome
7. Infamous Second Son : Looks pretty fun
8. Destiny : Can Bungie strike lightning twice? Doubt it, but it should be fun.
9. Massive Chalice : Cool concept. Hope it turns out well.
10. Hearthstone: Fun card game.

1. Uncharted 4 : I want to believe it’s a Fall 2014 game. It’s gonna be glorious. G-L-O-R-I-O-U-S.

2. Infamous Second Son : I enjoyed Infamous 1 & 2. The more I see this game, the more I want to play.

3. Hotline Miami 2 : I enjoyed the first entry on my Vita and I can't can't wait to play this game. I’m probably even more excited by the tracklist.

4. Drive Club : I'm always in the mood for a good arcade racer and Drive Club has everything to fit the bill. Some aspects of the game like the social stuff I couldn’t care less but just looking at the game is like motor porn for car enthusiasts. Think Gran Turismo visuals with cars that do not sound like vacuums. ***Faints***

5. The Witcher 3 : I haven't played a WRPG for a long time and this situation has to stop. The Witcher 3 looks gorgeous and interesting, that's enough to get hyped. I like that we play a strong character in a story driven game instead of a DIY lambda warrior a la Elder Scrolls.

6. Dying Light : parkour + survival + zombies = recipe for good fun, count me in!

7. Rime : intriguing Ico look-alike with sweet cell shading design, very attractive. I hope it’s a 2014 game.

8. No Man’s Sky : I hope there’s something more in it than exploration but the premises seem super interesting

9. Galak-Z : the old school anime style makes this game very attractive to me and the burst based control scheme makes me want to try it. Now.

10. The Last Guardian : nah-nah-nah-nah-I-can’t-hear-you-it’s-a-2014-game

1. The Witcher 3. The conclusion one of the most realized fantasy worlds, the sandbox elements are unexpected but im sure CDP will pull it off.
2. Mario Kart 8- If the course design is as inventive as the levels I saw then Sumo Digital's reign is gonna be a short one.
3. Wasteland 2. After New Vegas, and realizing that Obsidian is not touching Fallout again this is how I get my true meaty share of Postapocalyptia, plus it has Avellone.
4. South Park. Obsidian+ South Park with Matt and Trey writting and name dropping Earthbound.
5.Mount and Blade 2: Bannerlords: My 2010 GOTY, if they can streamline the political and administrative metagame it will become my 2014 GOTY too.
6. Bayonetta 2- IVE SEEN IT, the game looks and plays great, cant wait.
7. Kentucky Zero Route episodes. One of my favorite games of the year, it will be good so it its conclusion.
8. Hotline Miami 2: I need some new gym music soundtrack.
9. X. Depends on how deep are the RPG elements, but it looks great so far.
10. Hyrule Warriors. It looks like shit right now but im waiting for the Producer announcement to see if its something I should care about or not.
