The concept? Insomniac are a good developer, they sought freedom from Sony owning everything they did (and trying incredibly unsuccessfully to chase the halo money with resistance in a series that completely lacked its own identity).

They went to ea who seemingly didn't support their vision for fuse and came out and said they are happy to have a publisher that supports their vision for what they want to do.
Seems like development is going well enough to confirm it for 2014, it's a new ip and from the announcement trailer looks a bit different in style

WTF is this? Pretty sure Resistance has it's own identity since it had two sequels after launch. The player base was there and I don't think insomniac ever said it was an "unsuccessful" franchise. Do you have quotes of them saying they were chasing "Halo money" or is that your own general opinion?

But the guy with the blanked out list was responding to me. I'm seriously confused right now.
Well. He does have a point.

It doesn't matter if the new IPs already had been announced beforehand. They're there.

Besides, it's not like Nintendo or Sony has announced a ton of new IPs either.

Are these leaks suppose to be exciting or suprising? No word on more interesting projects like the rumored Platinum game?

Speaking of super secret leaks I have heard rumors that EA is working on the next Fifa/Madden, there are also talks about continuing the Battlefield franchise though we might not see BF5 until 2015/16.

i was hoping for phantom dust news some of these seem kind of obvious things to tell or expected in my mind at least but would love to hear about the things we've never even thought of being worked on again or newer ips, lol.

(P.S. i just want more phantom dust news :p)

Its going to be a good year. Between Nintendo going fucking nuts, Microsoft bringing a solid lineup and whatever Sony brings, it's a fun time to be a gamer.

It's odd I was so excited earlier when the leaks were happening that I didn't realize that the games I'm most excited for [Halo 5 and Crackdown 3] won't be out until at least 2015 :(

Guess I can hold off on an XB1 until next year. At least it sounds like they're really trying to make Crackdown good which is excellent news

You go ahead and get your hopes up.

Also Resistance was a success commercially and critically.

Pffft. Suit yourself.

I'm all in for an action shooter that has Jet Grind Radio-like aesthetics.

Sony is like the Atlanta Braves with pitching prospects. If they dump you, odds are you are DONE. Since the launch of PS3 Insomniac tanked. They did nothing with the promising Resistance franchise, and even going third party FUSE was total garbage.

SO looks like anither waste of time. Cartoon over the top shooter? Reaks of a bust. By March/April alone if Sony get Driveclub, MLB 14, and Infamous SS out their lineup is infinity better than MSs which right now, to me, only Titanfall stands out as a "system seller", and thats IF it pans out.

Their lineup thus far, and whats coming out in 2014 is in terrible shape. By holidays 2014, they should have Halo 5 ready. Halo 2 remake? Cmoooooooon man.

Had they announced SO after ACiT when they were at their peak I would be excited, but Insomniac has been a mediocre dev since 2009. R3 was just okay, two terrible Ratchet game, Fuse (no need to even explain this) and then another Ratchet cash gran for safe measure (which wasn't even that good). I don't get why people are so excited over a CGI trailer

A lot of the hype is simply the novelty of them doing an Xbox exclusive and good on them. I'd honestly love for the Ratchet IP to go another Dev who can actually breath new life into it

I would have said the same thing until I owned one. The interface is very dependent on kinect and voice commands. You can disconnect the kinect but the system was clearly designed around it. I really can't see them selling it without kinect at this juncture, the menus would need some serious work, that's for damn sure.
I remember reading that a huge update will be out sometime this summer that essentially revamps the UI so it's faster and less dependent on kinect.

I've said it a few times on here that I found the UI complicated and cluttered, but if it does receive this much needed update, I'd be more than happy to get one. Especially for H2HD.

Fallen Xbot (cannot continue gaining levels in this class)
so, the big question (for me anyways) is - does halo 2 anniversary + mp component signal that 343i is returning to the roots of halo gameplay? or possibly with this release 343i has the excuse to take halo in whatever the hell direction they want with halo 5 because the old school players will still have what they want to play?

could be i'm over thinking this and looking for answer (from rumors no less) that arent there

That possible $399 Xbox sounds subsidized, since theoretically one would buy all the games from MS, completely pass the retailers, but they will likely have digital download cards.

Crackdown 3, so long from now.

On the multiplayer side, it absolutely didn't have an identity. The first one had some great co-op split screen, four player split screen action, a great online mode, all around good fun. The next game nixed four player split and two player story co-op for a special co-op mode, and an online battle up to 64 players that included AI fighting. The next game nixed all split screen and co-op modes and went down to 16ish players (something around there).

It was a series that was all over the place, and that's a damn shame as I loved the first Resistance to death.

Must have missed this. Link?

Sorry for the late reply.

This is mainly what I'm talking about. Hm, doesn't say anything being announced this year, only that multiple new IPs are currently in production. I could have sworn I saw another post about something new this year. Ah well, we're likely to be seeing some great new IPs in 2015, 2016, etc. for sure.

This current line up for this year is perfect for me (minus a lack of Viva Pinata. :( )

Instead of dregrading the topic at hand as yet another pointless list war, are you seriously going to say that the R&C: Future series, along with Into the Nexus and Quest for Booty, and Insomniac 1-3 were poorly received titles? Sure the resistance series isn't a seller. Saying it's an outright bomb for the developer is outright loony.

And please; stop spreading this 'you are DONE' nonsense, because the relationship between Insomniac and Sony hasn't shifted at all if the Ratchet film, and what we have of Into the Nexus shows for the future of their relationship. If you think a Ratchet game made by insomniac isn't going to make it to PS4, it's an outrageous thing to think Outside of Insomniac, there have been other teams that have been dropped by Sony; like Studio Liverpool. They've disbanded since their closure sure but there are still members working on PS4 titles. Firesprite with The Playroom, and the SotB devs working on the SoTB remake.

The quality of FUSE and Into the Nexus is debatable sure. Ratchet fans think it's a proper return though the restriction of the PS3 hardware is noticeable.

There's more to Overdrive's hype than it being an Xbox exclusive. The details--while scare, sure.--we have on it shows a title BLOWING UP with promise.

Insomniac knows how to make a Ratchet game. Insomniac /knows/ how to make a good shooter, if Resistance 1-3 have anything to say about it (hell FUSE is one of my favorite third person shooter).

Serious question?

New Halo and Crackdown games a 10x more exciting than some rumored game that probably won't even be on my radar.
