Great pick up for Adult Swim Games. This one fits well into their repertoire.
Honestly this is the sequel it should have gotten after the 1st game.
2 is cool and all but nobody wanted a platformer and the 3rd game lost its focus because of the devs having trouble selling the concept of a 3D TJ&E game.
Personally, I don't mind Funkotron. It is an interesting game in its own right. I honestly never had a chance to play TJ&E3, but
watching Gamesack's recent look coverage on this one, it doesn't look that bad. But you can still see some attempts to make it more palatable for mainstream audiences.
But when you look at the original ToeJam & Earl on the Genesis/ Mega Drive, the game was never destined to be a hit with the mainstream. It's roguelike gameplay was just to unorthodox for it to have any appeal at all with the masses. The game became a cult classic for a reason.
