After Newtown, Gamer Calls for Online Shooter 'Ceasefire'

The killer didn't play violent videogames. This is just feeding a biased and misleading media narrative that detracts from the actual issues that led to the tragedy. It's stupid and insulting to the memories of the victims since it will do nothing to prevent another tragedy from occurring.

As pornography has become more widespread, sexual violence has gone down rather than up. I wonder if the same is true of non-sexual violence and violent video games - that is, have potential killers been prevented from going on a spree by violent video games acting as an safe outlet for their urges?

The entire thing seems misguided, like some false admission of guilt on the part of gamers. Fantasy violence and real violence aren't linked, associating them, even in the form of symbolic gestures, does more harm than good.
