The actor and former professional wrestler has hinted that he could be a candidate in 2024

A poll released on Tuesday by Piplsay suggests that nearly half of all U.S. adults would support his candidacy. The poll found that 29 percent would support campaigns by both Johnson for president and actor Matthew McConaughey for Texas governor, with another 17 percent supporting Johnson's run only.

"Not sure our Founding Fathers ever envisioned a six-four, bald, tattooed, half-Black, half-Samoan, tequila drinking, pick up truck driving, fanny pack wearing guy joining their club - but if it ever happens it’d be my honor to serve the people" said The Rock

In addition to Johnson, the poll asked respondents to weigh in on whether a number of other celebrities should run for president. A presidential run from Angelina Jolie had the support of 30 percent, while 27 percent supported Oprah Winfrey and another 22 percent supported Tom Hanks.
A combined 63 percent said that Hollywood stars would "make good politicians" if they had "political aptitude" or "the right team in place."

I don’t really know what to make of this since I dont know anything about his personal beliefs or politics.
Is he your typical Hollywood clown that focuses on SJW garbage or is woke ? Both ?

How? we don't even know what his platform is? I love The Rock and all, but until I hear what his actual platform is, I don't know if I'd vote for him or not.

Unless this is his platform:

I understand some peoples hate for trump even if misguided sometimes...

But I genuinely think an endorsement of these two is a bad sign. I dont think they were the lesser of the two evils... The border crisis and the neocon gas prices are certainly not looking good for his 2nd term if he makes it that long... Which is a good bet for no way.

However back in the early 2000s he went to the republican convention

The dude is Samaoan, they have great physical genetics, hes played with various steroids and hormones for years for the quest for fame and money. He is successful in that aspect... Is he a great actor? He's not that bad.

Would he be a good president?
He cant do worse then Biden so far.

If anybody could secure the borders, get us completely out of the world police game... Fix our debt and inflation issues they would be a good president.
The rock... Seems like a bad choice for the main issues posted above.

Believe it or not body builders are on average pretty intelligent people in some aspects... They actually are concerned with diet and excersise which is smarter than most fat lazy Americans...

I'd rather he just stay in movies.. 2024 is going to be a shit show.

Ronald Reagan is considered to be one of the greatest modern presidents by a lot of people.
That's comparing an intelligent human being to a...well, a literal Rock.

But for full disclosure, I'm not one of those "lot of people" you refer to.

Ronald Reagan is considered to be one of the greatest modern presidents by a lot of people.
Reagan was involved in politics since the 1950s. He was an FBI informant since the late '40s. He was governor of California from 1967-1975. Let me know when Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has been the governor of California for 8 years.

Lol when people can't imagine it being worse. It can be way worse. You have no idea.
Way worse than lifetime politicians? Things are not running because of these peoples competence ... In fact they actively stale mate and stimey good legislation because of greed and corruption. The politicians actively divide the people for nefarious reasons... Gerrymandering etc etc....

Term limits would help in the short term... But these terds would find a way to keep the status quo in the long run even with revolving suits.

People look at jury duty with disdain and a necessary evil... Thatvis how political office should be viewed...

Instead its a corruption money pit where a few gain monetary power for their measley existence while the majority suffer for decades to come because of "elected" moral deficiencies.

But I ain't got no idear!

No.

The US should have a law where only people with political experience can run for the POTUS.

Yeah I read some stories about how he was always “that guy” who brought up politics all the time well before he was governor. It was clearly his passion his entire life.

As much as I like the Rock, he’s much more of a marketing and branding “doing my hustle” kind of guy. He has a strong rags to riches story (with a little nepotism sprinkled in) which could be appealing. He’s probably also very centrist politically which would look weird in any primary debates.

If he can be governor of California or something for a while as a Republican then maybe.

I get you. His genetics make him good for physical stuff, but doesn’t give him the mental capacity to be president.

Do you want your CEO to be a noob?
Do you want your plumber to be a noob?

etc etc.

Depends on how corrupt they were...

For instance... The plumber... Since ceo is pretty vague.

If the plumber is a noob with integrity that diligently works to fix my issue even while making mistakes but eventually making it right.

Vs

Corrupt plumber that makes a patch that will have to be repaired over and over and charges an outrageous amount.

I don't see what the use is of deflecting the question by offering a choice between 2 extremes, neither of which are realistic.
Other than doing the usual thing wokesters do, which is waste everyone's time.

What you want for any job, is someone that is capable. Well maybe you don't, but anyone with any business sense will. Noobs still need to prove themselves.

Occupying the top government spot is not something you want people to 'learn on the job'.

So what I’m getting from this article is that Dwayne Johnson is wanting to run for President and 46% of American adults want to vote for him. Yet, there is absolutely no reference to his personal beliefs and where he stands on any of the issues. So people are voting for him purely on name recognition...seriously?

thinks Halo Infinite is a new graphical benchmark
One of the world’s favorites actors Arnold was going to be president but he can’t to me it looks like the next republican has an enormous hill to climb after Trump.

I can attest to not wanting a noob plumber after being caught by several.

That's why when you find a good one you save their number as there are too many cowboys pretending to know a trade.

One plumber came out for a broken tap, made it worse and then had the cheek to tell me "yeah, your tap is broken".

I nearly erupted in rage. Refused to pay him. Think I ended up giving him 20 for petrol etc. he was damn lucky to get anything.

having the right person and a good team is vital.

the knowledge, diplomacy, leadership, communication etc. to gain support and credability to the right decisions and serve your community can't be done by anyone.

public service shouldn't be personality driven, people should realise house of cards or veep isn't how things work.

Not if he ran for the Democrats. Join the Libertarian Party, we have cookies, and Rock aligns more with us than the socialists. He's one of few actors I'd endorse as POTUS, both him and Kurt Russell.

We Elected Regan and Trump, two people who had NO business being in office so it’s not like this is beyond us.
At least Reagan was a Governor first and they both had policies that benefited the economy in some form.

I can see it. Republicans need to shift HARD centrist to have a shot in 2024. The wounds that Trump caused won't be healed by 2024... Minority and millennial voters decided the 2020 election. A further widening of the political divide will only create larger and larger losses for the GOP as demographics only shift further over the next three years.

Don't shoot the messenger; I'm Canadian so US elections are mostly entertainment for me. But this is no longer up for debate in my view. Another Trump run would be a landslide loss.

If the GOP doesn't go looney tunes with a celebrity nom like The Rock, then maybe Nikki Haley? But the list of establishment GOP members who have a shot in hell is very very very very slim at this stage.

Titanic was called the Ship of Dreams, and it was. It really was.
At least we're not pretending that politicians, particularly at the presidential level, are anything more than actors..

We've had dozens upon dozens of years of theater, and many people haven't figured it out yet.

Thats not deflection... I want someone who is willing to admit mistakes and has integrity... Whether noob or experienced.

The problem is the experienced person has a high value of themselves that will reflect on the bill... This is not always an experience charge as much as a vanity tax... (Politicians especially the seasoned ones vanity tax all the time... Gerrymandering...They aren't even doing hard labor)

And as far as what I want when I sub contract labor is not capability, any one is capable of doing a job. People do indeed learn experience through time... Some are smart enough to follow code the first time.

Ive personally removed a concrete block foundation after temporarily supporting an addition with 4x4s... Because the capable sub contractors did not follow building code.

I didnt have time to fuck around with more contractors and the pricey bull shit.

I used a sledge... I used a jack hammer. I used a shovel and I set the rebar and poured the footer... Once this was to code i had a contractor come back and do the easy part of cinder block back to the addition.

I bring up my story of capability for one reason here... I was capable of doing it... But I hired someone who was lazy and wanted quick money(sounds like a politician). My fault. I paid for it myself... In many ways. I made the mistake. ( just like voters have for decades)

These career politicians are never held accountable... Dont follow the code( constitution) and are vain with "experience".

Id rather have an honest noob than an experienced bull shit artist(politician).
