Assassin's Creed: Unity was teased in Brotherhood according to writer

Ubisoft writer Jeffrey Yohalem has revealed that the French Revolution setting of the upcoming Assassin's Creed: Unity was teased as far back as 2010's Assassin's Creed Brotherhood.

The ending sequence of that game includes a number of mysterious symbols being projected - the two most prominent being the Phrygian Cap, a symbol of the French Revolution, and the Eye of Providence, a nod towards the North American setting of Assassin's Creed 3.

Yohalem penned Brotherhood after working on Assassin's Creed 2. He then found fame as the lead writer of Far Cry 3, and is next working on the downloadable role-player Child of Light.

It fits with what Ubisoft has said of Assassin's Creed: Unity - that it has been in development for over three years.

@jeffreyyohalem Did AC Brotherhood ending (symbols) really was hint for #ACUnity? :D

@dex3108 Yup and AC3, the symbols pointed to American Revolution and French Revolution.

Dont they kind of tease everything is AC games though? From Ancient Egypt to Japan to everything in between.

And French revolution has been something people just kind of expected to happen eventually anyway because it fit well as a AC setting.

Yes. The end of Black Flags
Even shows an old Ezio mentoring a young Asian woman.

This is kind of cheating, because AC games reference lots of time periods and settings. At the time during Brotherhood, they were "just another two symbols".

I guess that was the plan before they veered off course with annual sequels going all over the place

We're finally back on track lol

Jeffrey Yohalem.

Oh goodness- his writing for Far Cry 3 was absolutely fucking atrocious.

Brotherhood was way better, but is he the lead writer for Unity? Tempered expectations.

I just finished black flag and didn't see that scene anywhere. It did however have an old Kenway with his daughter.

Its part of the optional modern day stuff

You unlock Abstergo Entertainment marketing evaluations for each of the past AC main characters as potential heros for future abstergo game. Its pretty fun. The Connor video is full of salt. Says the audience isnt smart enough to "get him". Good stuff.

Ahhh now I remember it. You're right.

You can find references to almost every significant time period and historic context in past AC games. It's easy to say "hey there were clues" afterwards.

Eh, it's a stretch if I could be honest. Any major event in the last 1500 years that has been mentioned within the series could be considered that if a future title chooses to go their.

It's not exactly a Destiny easter egg in something like Halo: ODST.

That is a concise, clear, intended easter egg.

The first one showed a bunch of landmarks right? There are always multiple hints or years going on. And that any place or time could be the next setting too.

The modern day stuff in Black Flag was so fucking meta, lol
