Came in to post Super Hydlide, was happy to see it already got a mention. Though, the post on page two didn't include this track, which is the most memorable for me. What a weird cool jazzy soundtrack for an RPG.

My other favorites include Revenge of Shinobi, Streets of Rage I and II, Phantasy Star II, and Thunder Force III.

First time I hooked my Genesis this is what I heard, I love this theme so much it even gives me actual goose bumps listening to it! And while looking for a youtube link I found an awesome S.S.T, band version.

I can't post anything (being at work) but I have to say that Ecco the Dolphin 2's soundtrack pretty much altered my musical landscape as a child and still remains one of my favourite soundtracks of all time.
Listening to it now, it seems influenced by Italian horror soundtracks from the 70s (composers like Goblin and Fabio Frizzi), which kinda makes sense considering how unnerving and creepy it felt at the time.

And yes Attila Heger did some incredible music for tides of time ... the shame ? his most fabulous tunes were cut out of defender of the future - no offence to Nielsen but Heger had better music for Ecco than Nielsen - a bit more dramatic and more "moody" - Love Nielsen work though. Look them up and you will have Ecco 2 vibes coming out of those Defender of the future tunes ...

Really strange how they also used worse sounding samples as tech got better (in my ears). The 32X could use better samples, but they sort of hit the uncanny valley and just sounded tinny (rest of the song is awesome though).

Several songs were remixed in Sonic Adventure because the Genesis version was never released in Japan and the composer wanted to let the Japanese hear those songs. I agree that its really good!

Also, all of Phantasy Star 2 and most of Phantasy Star 4's soundtracks belong here. I can't even pick fvorites, they're all great. Even 3 has some great standout tracks.
