Goldeneye. However, I don't think there is a truly bad film in the series. I could watch every single and wouldn't switch off the TV. Everyone has its own charm, save for QoS which one has to watch immediately after Casino Royale because it rather feels like a direct extension than a new movie.

Anyone who says GoldenEye is better than On Her Majesty's Secret Service are downright insane or very young. Even Christopher Nolan agrees it is easily the best.

I mean it had the most important moment in the history of the entire film franchise (spoilers obviously): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bxDRVE-UfHk

The only other acceptable answer is From Russia With Love. I refuse to believe anyone naming a middling Bond movie like GoldenEye have actually seen all 22 movies in the franchise. No way.

As a kid I loved volcanos and space ships - drew them all the time - so You Only Live Twice is my personal favorite. Still like it and as others have said the Japanese part of it adds to my enjoyment of the film. Little Nelly FTW.

I pretty much like any of the Bond films, except Die Another Day (baaaarf) and Moonraker, which was a cheap and stupid cash-in on the Space Shuttle craze back in '79. Goldfinger is of course brilliant and A View To A Kill has a soft spot with me as it was the first film I saw in a cinema.

Cannot wait for the next Bond.

A View to a Kill = Secret Best Bond Film. Seriously, it had the best villain in the series, the best soundtrack, and the last hour of the movie featured a series of exceedingly awesome scenes, one right after another. Sure, Roger Moore was around 20 years too old for the part and the actress playing Stacy made Denise Richards look like Meryl Streep in terms of acting ability, but that didn't really take away from the movie at all.

(License to Kill = secret 2nd best Bond film)

I'd say that AvtaK is underrated as well. Probably the coolest car scene in the series (where the back half gets sliced off and he is driving the front part). Its biggest problem is that the horse steroid scandal part of the story drags on and ends up being completely irrelevant to Max Zorin's scheme.

It's also one of those Bond movies where he doesn't rely so much on gadgets (except for one) and actually does detective work.

While I agree that it's too over looked, I wouldn't consider it the best by any means. But I wasn't a huge fan of Blofeld and felt the SPECTRE bit was a little dragged out over the series.
While this is true, I wouldn't hold OHMSS to such a criticism since it's the only Bond movie where Blofeld as a main villain is actually cool and OHMSS pretends it takes place after Thunderball (like it's supposed to) where Blofeld continues to operate in secrecy.

By everyone.
By people that have not watched The Man With the Golden Gun.

From Russia With Love. It's not even close for me. Thunderball and Casino Royale are 2a/2b respectfully.

Also, I fucking hated Goldfinger.

I haven't seen them in a long time, but probably Goldfinger. It's a bit silly and a bit serious which is perfect for Bond IMO. I always laugh in that scene when James asks the woman to leave by saying "Man talk" and then smacking her on the ass. That would NEVER be allowed today. :D

I still haven't seen the Daniel Craig movies... judging from this thread I think I need to see Casino Royale, even though I heard somewhere that it was kinda boring.

A BIT of truth to that... just a bit. Without giving anything away, the last bit of the film dragged on a little bit. It was necessary for the story though. Definitely a great flick, and you should check it out.

Craig's Bond is a cold bastard, and he portrays it well, but that's ultimately what makes the romance poignant. And it's probably the flat out best action movie that's been done within PG-13 constraints.

Evilore....my man!

Can honestly say that's the first time I've ever said that.

My favorite Connery quip is in Diamonds Are Forever

"Hi, my name is Plenty O'Toole"

"Named after your father no doubt"

Brilliant.

When keepin it real goes wrong. Very, very wrong.
You Only Live Twice is seen by most as one of Connerys worst.

I love it.

Then again i watched the james bond movies without any outside influence.

the secret bases under the volcanoes sparked my imagination as a kid when i saw the movie.

It butchered the book. :( Which is sad since most Connery movies followed the books well.

It isn't surprising that the ones widely seen as the best tend to follow the books the most closely.

This was one of my favorites as a child. Secret vulcanic bases, monorails, ninja battles, and space jumpsuits are just not the same after you grow up.

I feel the same and i haven't seen it in years for this very reason. Nothing will be tainting my awesome memory's from that movie.

I need a Craig Bond film with a secret volcano base.

I'm 33 and they still work for me.

The new G.I. Joe film will fill my needs this summer.

Bond cries. One of the most iconic scene in Ian Fleming's original novels is him cradling his dead wife and crying.

Don't care about the books. The movies and what they turned Bond to be became a much bigger phenomenon than the books ever did, so in essence that's what Bond is to me.

They open every Bond movie with "Daniel Craig As Ian Fleming's James Bond" (and the other actors before him) for a reason. It is still Ian Fleming's Bond. They turned the franchise around by following Ian Fleming very closely with Casino Royale after all, Fleming is still the guiding force of the franchise.

Of course, the one exception being George Lazenby.

Regarding Die Another Day, I thought that ice palace thing was cool.

But that airplane ending... wow. That was just... god... it was theater-leaving worthy. If it wasn't the end, I would have walked out.

I didn't much care for Halle Berry in it either. Which was weird because I used to think she was attractive before that movie.

Just no. Die Another Day was one of the shitties movies I've ever seen. That movie was god awful.

What does that matter when they don't act like the Bond from the books that everyone tells me about? Just slapping a logo on the front doesn't mean anything by itself.
