I'm seeing friends log in who haven't played since level cap was 85. Legion brings the nostalgia. Great expansion so far, hoping it stays strong through Mythic progression.
Seems like even with the huge disappointment in WoD, the same people came back for Legion.
Wondering if they'll stay longer than 1-2 months this time though.
Or does the 3.3 million include prepurchase sales?
I mean... c'mon blizz... yes, there are 3.3m concurrent (or close enough) players who will be supporting you forever
with that being said... legion is easily the best expansion since Cata.. possibly even better than Cata.
Players will turn on Legion after the honeymoon, like they turned on WoD.
I hate it because of the crappy and sparse content it offered. Still giving legion a chance though after skipping the last 2 and a half expansions.I hate Cata because of what they did to the world.
Very impressive considering the age of the game. If nothing else they know they have a hardcore dedicated crowd of 3.3 million.
First week sales are going to be a lot higher than that, definitely. People like me who waited a couple days to see if the buzz was good, latecomers, etc.
Well deserved, it's a good expansion with an absolutely enormous amount of content. If they can keep to a somewhat decent conten release schedule it'll be one for the books certainly.
For that matter, none of the "WoW 1" content is even in the game anymore because it got replaced in Cataclysm.there was a cool conversation going on the other day... that WoW , as of this point, is basically WoW 2. "age of the game" is meaningless.
original system requirements
800Mhz CPU
32MB video card
256MB RAM
legion requirements
dual core CPU from the last 4 years
integrated graphics from the last 2 years
2GB RAM
beyond that, SO MANY of the game mechanics have changed, or do change from expansion to expansion. and you don't even have to go through any of the "WoW 1" content anymore! Every copy of legion comes with a level 100 boost so you can get right into the modern content.
so while the game world and player base are 12 years old.. for all intents and purpose Legion is a modern MMORPG, attached to the side of a 12 year old system. a 12 year old system that you can completely bypass and play the modern "WoW 2.0" of.

A fair number of instances are graphically unchanged since vanilla
Cataclysm really hurt the game. How was Panda so low compared to the others? That was an excellent expansion.

Actually the oldest content in the game is from 2007, not 2004, almost all the vanilla content except some raids have been completely revamped in 2010.

Speaking of which is the jump from cataclysm Azeroth to 2006 burning crusade when you hit 60 as jarring as it would seem, or did they overhaul that too?

Outland and Northrend are still jarring. Art design helps a lot compared to other games that are 9 and 8 years old respectively, but yeah they are still pretty rough. Draenei and BElf areas are also bad.
Nope. That place is in need of a rehaul
JimJamJones said:This time around, they're all just the same Glittering Mementos. It's probably a stupid nitpick, but I liked the treasure hunting.
7.2 is going to be the real test, I think. We already know 7.1 is going to have new quest content and the Karazhan "Mega dungeon" (essentially 5-man raid), which already puts it leagues above WoD's first patch. If 7.2 doesn't take forever and includes a new raid that also isn't the final raid of the expansion, things will be looking quite nice overall.

I'm surprised they haven't updated the dragon models. They're just a pixelated mess now days.
Smaller gaps between major releases, especially at the end of the expansion. It's something Blizzard has apologized for and have said they will work on rectifying this expansion. I'm really hoping they follow through on that, only having one raid "worth" doing for over 6 months gets boring unless it's a truly standout raid.Sparse? I can almost guarantee you that Cata has more quests than any other expansion they've ever made. Had a standard amount of raid bosses, had a lot of dungeons... What exactly do you want for it to not be sparse?

I was referring to the dragon flights. They still use the the vanilla models. I'd love to see them updated with new textures.huh? Storm dragons are new models. Not sure how 'pixels' even have anything to do with the model.
Basically the core audience is Warhammer or riot.Damm , MoP so low? one of the best expansions
I guess people like Orcs and Fel magic

Credit where credit is due, the rework of the old world was amazing, but leveling is so easy that it's tough to sink my teeth in to it as much as I would with late game dungeons and the like. Granted, this is solely my viewpoint, but from what I've heard it's not an uncommon one.
by being awful
The gap at the end has existed in every single release bar vanilla, though.
