Reviews

The beauty of Chasing Coral is matched only by its urgency, as director Jeff Orlowski encapsulates the issue of global climate change by showing where it's doing real, measurable damage in real time: The world's coral reefs.

Cracks the code of how to make a documentary about a specific cause that connects with viewers, making them share the filmmakers' passion in the process.

Did you ever think you'd shed a tear for dying coral?

Chasing Coral is as beautiful as any nature film in its celebration of coral's complexity, and of the undersea architecture that is formed when multiple species of coral create natural multi-level structures of interdependency.

If you've ever snorkeled on the Great Barrier Reef or dived among the other major underwater wonderworlds across the globe, don't be surprised to find yourself getting misty-eyed during Chasing Coral.

I just finished watching this and I'm heartbroken. We don't deserve this place. We are going to eradicate coral reefs within our lifetime and we will suffer for it. It's so sad.

I was hoping for a picture of Andrew Lincoln.

Hadn't heard of this, will definitely be watching soon.

We need more more more film makers documenting what climate change is doing to our planet. Hope this movie makes some waves and other directors follow suit.

Cool I'll definitely watching this later. People need to know how climate change is affecting our planet because whats happening to coral reefs is incredible sad.

It's fine, but most of the documentary is about the guys setting up the cameras than about the coral reefs themselves.

That's very disappointing. Will still give it a watch
It's basically a sequel of sorts to Chasing Ice, which was also similar... but I felt like that movie had more of a balance.

You still get lots of pretty shots of coral and whatnot, and I guess it's interesting to see the logistics of doing underwater timelapse. But the "money shot" of watching various reefs die due to warmer temperatures essentially lasts a few minutes.

Just finished watching this the other day. As someone that grew up next to the ocean and appreciated all of it's overwhelming wonder, I teared up to see how much of it's been ruined in my lifetime. Glad to see Netflix picking up documentaries like this.
