Deadly Class #13

Noooo, Maria better not have died. I'm gonna be so sad if she doesn't make it.

Seems like from 14 on they get a new colorist. Is this guy as good as Lee Loughridge? Cus Lee was one of the reasons the art was so amazing in Deadly Class. Also, what's with Remender books getting new colorists? Low changed colorists as well and while the new person is really good, they're not quite as good and clever with the coloring as the first volume's colorist was.

I think the artstyle was the colorist with Low, right? Probably didn't have time to do all the art and color it but it was still a bummer when the switch happened.

The colourist changed on Black Science too actually. I liked it there, but it is actually quite a change, super noticeable. As far as Boyd goes, he's great but purely imo, I don't like him on the book nearly as much as I did Loughridge, I felt it as soon as the change happened and it's bothered me since. Particularly that whole huge finale you just read is just jawdropping the whole way through, and while Boyd's palette is still great it feels flatter some how. I don't know how to enunciate it haha. It's not a disaster or anything but I did note it.

End of East Of West vol 6 btw = perfect haha. It felt inevitable but still really exciting to get there.

Anyone who follow sales and the industry know how well Archie comics is doing. I know they had the failed Kickstarted and cut alot of their other lines to get the reboot and horror stuff out the door.

Let's say it like this: Mark Waid is their big name, they're doing a "earth shattering event" with a "shocking death", there are Riverdale comics based on the TV series and neither Mega Man or Sonic have any comics coming.

So your saying Archie Comics are doing great/poorly and them doubling down on their core properties are a sign of strength/desperation after the success/failure of the the past few years.

I'm saying we still joke about them delaying everything and we're still surprised every time they do.

Probably related to Tumblr shipping.

There are certain shows you can't even search on there without most of the results being shipping related.
I think it was some comment made by a fan asking her to make Asami trans but it was framed in a sort of condescending way. But also that comment Lord of Lore is talking about.

Nothing is good enough for some fans that make Tumblr their home. The Steven Universe fandom gets pretty crazy.

There's a reason artists are leaving tumblr in droves.

Why is the Phoenix everywhere? It's in
Thanos
it's in
Thor
, and apparently it's the main plot point in the Jean Grey ongoing.

Also, I really like young Jean Grey and I don't know why.

Strange how the most inclusive shows have a habit of fostering some real hateful people. I don't get it.

The shipping overrides logic.

Smallville had a ton of people mad that Clark/Lois was a thing despite the fact that story was only going to end that way.

The CW Solo shows suffer from it, and going by the gaf OT and Reddit it seems to stem from Misogyny and racism to some degree.

The fans also blame her for the comic leaking when it's pretty clear it's a reviewer ex that someone grabbed(why would she even have a lettered ex?).

It's good this is online now.

I don't know if this is the right place for this but here goes: has anyone been reading Dick Tracy in the Sunday paper recently? It seems like the new guys handling it are really crossover-crazy.

They had Tracy track down a kidnapped Annie for Mr. Warbucks, another short storyline where he and The Spirit stop a casino robbery (where one suspect is the Dragon Lady from Terry and the Pirates), and if we go further back they put in Popeye and Brenda Starr as cameos too. Even his overseas counterparts and the parody character Fearless Fosdick show up at some point!

Right now he's attending a cosplay convention with his granddaughter encountering people dressed in fursuits, Sailor Scouts and walking past posters with Sonic the Hedgehog on them. Todays strip takes things in to the real world by having Svengoolie officiate the competition. That really messes with me since I've been to the set in Chicago where they film the show and met Rich Koz (the current Sven).

Any thoughts?

Guardians vol 2 was fantastic has the new book started yet? It's time i finally started a new Marvel book. Might pick up Star Lord as well, heard Chip was doing doing good work on it,shame it wasn't long for this world.

This week

So, Marvel is setting up an event where Captain Marvel opposes Captain America right after an event where she fought Iron Man.

Maybe they're setting her up for a heel turn, or they just don't understand why people won't embrace the character. They're trying to fabricate a fanbase for her that would justify the movie they already invested in.

Holy shit dudes Flash was amazing this week. The Button has had an incredibly strong start.

I liked it. It's probably the first Flash book I've read since Flashpoint. He was never one of my go-to superheroes. I was a Marvel kid growing up so Flash was always just "one of those Justice League guys" to me.

When someone releases a korra comic in 2017.

Supposedly they are quite popular still.

People still need that KorrAsami fix.

Oh right, new thread day tomorrow. This month went by too quick.

2017 is almost half over. :|

I haven't read anything with Phoenix (my X-men reading has been minimal), but I'm intrigued to see what happens with that in Jean Grey. Also, same on the bolded. I've always really liked Jean, all the Jeans. I think it's her power set.

Is it fair to say the Universe book is really just the microseries stuff formalised into a monthly? No where near caught up enough to read universe but it seems like it from the outside

Pretty sure that's the purpose of the book, streamline things a little so it's easier to follow.

Started Red Hood and the Outlaws Vol. 1: Dark Trinity

It's fine

Surprised at how much I liked this book.
