It does not upscale Standard DVD's through component, only VGA and HDMI.

It can do 720p and 1080i over component only on HD-DVD's.

Correct, it will only upscale movies over HDMI and VGA. HD DVD movies will be 1080i over component. I just went from a launch 360 to an Elite and I have a 1080p TV as well as an HD DVD drive, so I have tried the different set-ups.

Wrong? Did you not even read the entire first post or the title of the thread? 720p or 1080i over COMPONENT is what he asked and that's what the add-on does for HD-DVD playback.

Component:
DVD = 480p
HD-DVD = 720p, 1080i

VGA:
DVD = 480p, Upconvert 720p, 1080i, 1080p
HD-DVD = 720p, 1080i, 1080p

HDMI:
DVD = Upconvert 720p, 1080i, 1080p
HD-DVD = 720p, 1080i, 1080p

No ... only through HDMI iirc.



DVD can be upscaled to 1080p via VGA due to a clause in its license agreement that was originally intended for PC usage.

No such clause exists for AACS.

WTF are you talking about? I have my 360 and addon hooked up through VGA right now and am getting true 1080p for all HD-DVD movies.
