Poor little Nuts & Bolts. I love you even if no-one else does. :lol

Congratulations to MW2 for being the first PS3 game to achieve diamond status.

Why is there no MW2 (360)?
Because it did 1m+ in its first month.

All the games in the OP list are new/upgrade award for December only.

COD MW2 360 already done a million before December.

And then it didn't even break "100,000 copies"? I find that hard to believe.

Indeed. I should.

MW2 (360) swept all the awards last month, the PS3 version swept all but the diamond, which it did this month.

It's ok I got it. Stop raping me already :)
I honestly thought it's a mistake (not that the 360 version didn't sell enough, so chill Psychotext..) because you always see older games resurface in these lists. Seems kinda weird to leave out games that achieved diamond status. The games still sell and don't stop at 1m.

I'm plenty chilled, but it's better to get the answers out of the way quickly, as we get the same stupid questions every single time one of these threads is posted.

I just followed Gaf's tradition, which is to updated with the new titles for the month.

I put up the links to the ELSPA pages on the OP and you can look all the titles that sold 1 million or more in the UK since they started awarding them.

Well done Assassin's Creed 2! Really surprised it overtook Arkham Asylum so easily but oh well they're both my top two games of the year :D

According to most sales, it has already passed Galaxy worldwide, so it's not really surprising.

I'm surprised at F1 2009 for Wii. Is F1 that popular in the UK?

Last two F1 world champions were British, so probably.

It's good to see SEGA's success with HoTD: O being confirmed. Up until now it had been speculation based off how it lingered in the chart for a while.

I'm also quite stunned that Rhythm Paradise has only sold 100,000 after the barrage of advertising and it's yo-yo'ing up and down the All Format Top 40, whilst Spirit Tracks, which looked to be constantly dropping down, passed the same milestone in a few weeks!

Good to see Layton's sequel going strong...

EDIT: Clearly my eyes are going - it's Phantom Hourglass on the list, not Spirit Tracks...never mind.

It seems that Nintendo wasn't very happy with the results. Was it right from the beginning that they changed the game's boxart? Now it has Beyonce on it. In addition, they tried promoting the game with a cartridge-based demo, which probably is the first time they've done so in Europe.

I would say both that and Style Boutique have been relative disasters after the hype they received due to strong Japanese sales. I wonder if that will make NoE reluctant to bring Tomodachi Collection over? Surely 'Mii Collection' would be a sure-fire hit...

I wasn't aware of the cartridge-based demo. That's very interesting. Why not just bundle the GBA original with it then, since that's the superior game anyway?!

And it comes with a plastic wheel ala Mario Kart - I was surprised it did 100k though.

Some lovely awards this month, the sales should see a few more cross significant lines.

Wii is now the platform with the most Million Sellers since the Elspa site began in it's current format. All hail the king! DS & 360 are close behind so could still beat it.

The Elspa site redesign will hit at some point this year so should update the records section to reflect the new breed of super sales.

Hope they have a chart saying howmany 'diamonds' each of the high sellers have - it's interesting to see!

That's true, I don't really like the DS version then.
The demo might have been available in Germany only. It was simply the Nintendo Channel demo with another minigame and a menu.

Going by Nintendo's figures and Media Create, it's already passed it worldwide, by quite a margin.

What makes me sad is that the effort that went into advertising that and Style Boutique should have been put into marketing Mario & Luigi 3 and Metroid Prime Trilogy instead :-/

I know this is quite an old thread already, but since the top 10 for December was posted yesterday I wonder how Wii Fit Plus hasn't received a Double-Platinum award yet. Combined with November it should be at 872k already. Does anybody have an idea why?
