Aren't there lots of theories that suggest it's possible but only into the future? And you would need things that we haven't created yet obviously but just in terms of possibility.

Sure, it's absolutely possible. Time dilation allows you to effectively move forward in time via either traveling near light-speed, or hanging out near a very strong source of gravity (i.e. a black hole).
