I am very pale white, even though I have more Italian than Irish ancestry. I was incessantly harped on by more tan white kids (almost all of them) growing up to the point I was called "Casper" and "Powder" and even ostracized by certain groups. I would say this is colorism more than racism but it hurt nontheless. Hanging with kids who were ethnic minorities (i.e., black, Asian, Hispanic, Jewish) was easier much of the time because they tended to be more accepting and had to deal with even worse shit themselves.
