Prisons should be managed to a higher standard. Prison rapes/assaults/gangs should be zero tolerance. We need criminal justice reform on every level. That being said fuck Jared.

Should probably start with getting rid of mandatory minimum sentences. Zero tolerance doesn't really work if petty criminals get 20 plus year sentences. There is no incentive for them to behave.

Hmm I appreciate the backstory on Nigg--that name son--I didn't expect that, good journalism. Despite Jared being scum this is a flaw in the prison system, I wouldn't be surprised if much worse things have happened to him so far in prison. This should be corrected, not so Jared can have protection but so everyone can.
I won't lie a good part of me isn't wishing Jared a positive experience, but our prison system and population isn't suppose to serve out their version of justice.

The US has a law called the 2003 PROTECT act which makes sexual tourism with a minor illegal, even if the country one is visiting doesn't consider the person a minor. Some countries the age of consent is 14, but a US citizen would still be charged even for activity that that country would deem ok.

I knew an Orange County cop who worked in prisons for a number of years. He says that pedophiles are no. 1 and famous people are no. 2 on prisoners shit list. Being both, its hard to imagine that this will be the last incident for Fogle.

The deal here is that we're supposed to be better than him. I get that reality is that he will get beaten up a lot during the time he serves(and maybe even die), but celebrating and being happy about it is something that doesn't sit well with me.

The dude is going to be rotting in jail till 2029, that's his punishment and at some point he will come out of Prison, and we supposedly expect him to be part of society again, having to deal with violence for the next 14 years will probably make him someone even worse than he is now whenever that day comes.
A civilized society should never be okay with any kind of violence.
I also gotta mention that Nigg's story is crazy interesting.
