Just announced and revealed in French's newspaper "Le Monde", "Guitar Hero Live" is taking the series back to its root with a twist:
You'll play in a first person perspective.

There won't be colored frets on the guitar but 6 black and whites one, in two rows.

It's currently being developed by Freestyle Games (DJ Hero).

Some owners of previous Guitar Hero games will be disappointed to hear that the songs and peripherals they already own do not work with Guitar Hero Live.

First-person isn't too bad - I imagine dodging bottles of piss thrown onto the stage with Kinect will be quite fun ;)

Interesting approach and good that they are trying something a little different.

Hopefully when the info starts coming out we can find more about the controller/guitar.

Hopefully, Rock Band 4 gets the rights to Led Zeppelin so they can get all the sales, and so I can see an achievement/trophy that involves 100%ing the drum solo on the live version of Moby Dick.

The one with the 20+minute drum solo.

Small thing but is it so hard for people to call this Guitar Hero and not Rock Band? Not just on here, but I've seen lots of people on other gaming sites call this Rock Band. They're from two different publishers.

First person? Are they going to do interact crowds that interact differently with styles of music and depending on how you play? That could be interesting for a 'different mode' but I think the average player would like the option of either first person or what the older games had.

Though it can be cool in first person, watching a crowd mosh to a metal song and light up lighters for a ballad. Even boo you and start to get violent if you suck.

Again, its all about the context.

Apparently they changed the way the notes show up to be a little closer to actual guitar tabs. Could be interesting.

Yeah... This sounds like "change for the sake of change". Don't think traditional Guitar Hero fans will like this if true.

Whatever it is and however it'll work, I'm glad its different, because I love Rock Band and didn't want the genre to die thanks to Guitar Hero ripping it to pieces like last time. So whether it's a success or failure, Rock Band will be judged separately.

Still want to see and try it though. Someone also mentioned a Rock Band announcement today? I'll take it all!

That's cute..... I play real guitar already....I just want my standard 5 buttons. This is dead already to me.

Please Harmonix keep it the same!

Won't the bar with all the notes coming down still take precedence? Won't that kill the whole idea of a first person?

love how NDA is in the URL

Imagine the note highway over a First Person view of *you* the guitarist/bassist. Sort of like Rocksmith/2014 but live action/recorded.

I'm having troubling visualizing what this will look like

Yeah that's my problem right now too. How would first person mode be immersive if there are button prompts coming down the screen at the same time (my assumption until there's actual footage)?

And the new buttons are just going to make a large segment of the old Guitar Hero audience go to Rock Band; Really strange decisions to me.
