I hope GTA 6 doesn’t dissolve into “toxic relationship” trope with Lucia and Jason

Of course they are criminals but I like to see them be a regular couple…. No betrayal, no toxicity. I don’t mind conflict because it’s a story but it would be interesting if rockstar just played them straight

He's going to be toxic. She's going to put him in his place.

We all know it's going to happen.

Edit: am bookmarking this, so I can return after the game comes out, and luxuriate in my smug rightness.
Listen to the song lyrics. Its going to be the girl who is toxic and gets the poor bastard into doing bad shit. Basically Arthur and Dutch's relationship only Lucia is Dutch this time.

My guess is that the dude is an undercover cop. Initially plays along, ends up falling for her. They both die in the end.
I could see that happening.
A while back, there was talk of Bonnie & Clyde being an inspiration for for this game (and things didn't turn out well for those two).

The real plot twist would be that they are both deep undercover agents. One works for FBI and the other DEA... but you don't find that out until the final act when everything has fully unraveled after a gang infiltration and major drug bust gone wrong.

Why do people keep pushing the undercover cop angle…. It would totally ruin immersion when it comes to free roam since an undercover cop can’t do all the crazy stuff. Their is no reason to think both are anything else but criminals
Right. Like, I’m under the assumption and hope that they’ll be a “Bonnie and Clyde” type of couple/duo. Both are criminals, but one may wind up either betraying the other, or getting them both in seriously hot water.

Do you think you'll have to participate in mini games where both of them have to bang? Maybe QT events to change position?

Serious question as well. Let's be honest. Sex is perfectly natural and without it none of us would be here. Yet, sex in video games is still very taboo? Why? Why is it okay for me to blow heads off with a shotgun or ram a chainsaw through another human, but sex is completely banned?

Ludonarrative dissonance has been a thing with games since forever, including Rockstar games. Quite frankly, why are you doing all the crazy stuff if your desire is an immersive experience? The openness to do whatever you want in free roam is entirely a videogame thing, and if you were wandering the streets so openly doing criminal stuff, the cops would have you in jail pretty quickly.

how can it not be a toxic relationship, it sounds like they're going for a bonnie a Clyde sorta thing, with a female/male couple criminal duo, they aren't exactly gonna be a positive influence on one another, they will be definition be a toxic pairing.

why not its just a game
I'd be disappointed if GTA VI is 'just another game'. If you call GTA just another game series, I say your short changing the the Rockstar team and their achievements.

Tbh this whole romance / couple angle is what I’m least looking forward to in GTA6. I prefer the single protagonist of the gta3, Vice city days, etc. days. In 4 there was a bit of romance but you could largely ignore it.

Maybe they wanted to more with Claude and Catalina, and this their way of exploring those angles..

If I have to guess, she is the one really toxic and would incite her man to do bad things for her. I would even risk this guy dies and somehow she shows some kind of remorse, perhaps too late in the game.

Worst case scenario she's an ultra badass stronk woman and the guy is literally the soycuck. who is afraid of her and do every wish of her.

I am pretty sure Lucia will betray Jason. It is another Catalina vs Claude basically. Except Catalina is the main character this time.

What if he's a cop gone rogue, simply using his powers for their own gain?

Would be pretty cool to rock up to the police station, wander in to the hustle and bustle of the office and use various resources to your own benefit...look up someone on the system, steal evidence, check out guns/armor, get access to specialist vehicles..

Even have your own rogue police squad like in The Shield that you can use to hit drug ops (or other stuff); then you can siphon some off and sell it yourself. It'd open up a world of possibilities. You could actively manage your hit team and have a safehouse or base of operations.

He could be a vice guy and she could be released into his custody. He could run undercover stuff for the police, but play both sides and ultimately sway various things to his advantage. Also, the possibility of just rolling up on anyone and pulling them over would be pretty awesome, searching their vehicles, stealing stuff from them, shaking them down etc. Lucia could have her own capabilities related to her unassuming, female stature as well as other specialisations and Jason's could be related to his policing capabilities. It'd provide some major incentive to switch up characters and approach things in different ways.

My guess is she’s trans and so is he, and they both find out at the end, are disgusted by each other, and do a suicide pact.

He’ll just be an undercover cop. She won’t easily forgive him, he goes down in a hail of glory for her. Dies in arms. Roll credits.

They've been getting a little better about it with their last couple of games, though. In GTA V, Trevor acts as a perfect avatar if you're just looking to cause outrageous mayhem. In RDR2, Arthur has a history of criminality but the game has an honor system to support both acting as a deviant or as a more good-hearted outlaw, with consequences for the story (or at least, the ending).

It would be a shame to see them slide massively back if one of the characters is secretly a law enforcement agent yet can engage in wanton destruction like any other criminal.

I've never considered rockstar particularly good at writing, so yes, It will be standard tropes with excessive swearing and violence, might even be woke.

I think shes going to be the powerfull woman and hes just a simp. They will have enough money to be comfortable, hel want to run away with her, she will get him to do 1 more job that will go wrong 1 way or another .

You are connecting dots that even Rockstar doesn't when it comes to GTA. Your implication would mean that CJ, Nico, Franklin, and Michael are all crazed psychomaniac terrorist killers, because 'freeroam immersion lol' ....when their own literal story missions and cutscenes have them showing their remorse and guilt for their actions whenever something went wrong. You never see them willingly shooting rockets to civilians or spraying down a crowd with bullets, as those gameplay features are disconnected from the reality of the story.

With your rules of immersion, the protagonist of a GTA game could never evolve beyond the GTA2 cast, Claude, and Tommy Vercetti. All fun protagonists, but all one-note in their own way.

This is one of the reasons I'm sad Saint's Row went out the way it did, because they did find ways to connect the two in a fun story, all while the Saints didn't give a flying fuck about civilian casualties.

There were rumors claiming their relationship is based on the film "The place beyond the pines"

If thats so, it shouldnt fall on generic toxic relationship.
