I don't really care. GTA is about the world and gameplay for me. I can hardly remember the story of the ones I played. The most important thing is having a lot of pedestrians to run over and then running from the police. And occasionally do the missions.That's core GTA for me.

I feel like the storytelling was totally fine for the games they were made for, but they definitely didn't hit like the writing in RDR 1 & 2 for me. I'm optimistic we'll see a big improvement in that regard from GTAV.

But I'd agree that the story was just a means to letting you cut loose in the city.

Literally every GTA game (or Rockstar game, for that matter) is filled to the brim with toxic relationships. In GTA it's a primary narrative point that drives the story forward. 3, Vice City, San Andreas, GTAIV and especially GTAV is just insane with how many toxic relationships it has - pretty much every relationship no matter if it's family, friend or business is completely fucked.

Would be nice if Lucia and Jason broke away from that mold.

They're both going to be varying degrees of pieces of shit to each other. It's a dual protagonist game, can't see them forcing one to be "the bad one". In GTA V you can potentially kill off one of two, or neither.

Toxic is too broad a brush. If he hits her once during an argument is it now an irredeemably toxic relationship? I am sure there will be conflict, but I don't think he is going to serially abuse her because she is their first female protagonist and she needs to be able to carry herself as a strong individual.
My guess he he dies before the end, or like near the end you have to choose one of them to die/go to jail and the other is able to carry on in the open world.

I'd bet they have hard times in their relationship, play them separately some, and come back together. But more of a full of drama regular couple. Not betrayal type stuff.

I don't see Rockstar completely falling for the woke mind virus, i think they'll both be cunts with redeemable qualities. I also believe that their relationship will end with Jason betraying Lucia, and then having no choice but to kill him.
