Crackdown 3's new trailer definitely included Terry Crews, but it wasn't entirely clear if he would be in the game. Thankfully, he officially is, and he will be a playable character in some form.

Speaking to IGN, design director Garett Wilson said, "He's a playable character. I think I'm OK to tell you that. I probably shouldn't say any more. He definitely is a playable character, and he's a character in the narrative, so he's in the opening cutscene and things like that."

It's unclear whether Crews' character, Commander Jaxon will be playable in the campaign (he did not appear to be pickable in the E3 campaign hands-on), or would be playable in the game's multiplayer modes. Wilson did confirm that both the actor's voice and likeness would be used.

Wilson also explained the unusual way Crews got involved in the project:
"That was crazy. We got this call from marketing, and they were like, 'Terry Crews wants to be in the game.' We were like, 'that'd work. That'd absolutely work.' He's a real-life Agent."

So a playable Terry Crews. I found my main character. ^_^

I hope a game resembling Crackdown will be confirmed as playable in Crackdown 3 ;_;

Edit : Also, no he's not "a real life agent", I like old spice commercials as much as the next guy, but Agents don't usually speak their loud mouths or get sassy in trailers, they're bland and mute because their only purpose is to let me throw trucks at people and jump very high.

This doesn't look like Crackdown to you?

Crackdown 3 looks like crackdown on crack

Guess he'll be an Agent voice option?

Exciting stuff.

I think he's literally a playable Agent. They mentioned in the same stream that someone had won a competition for charity and their reward was that their likeness was added in the game as an Agent, so I wouldn't be surprised if it's the same case for Crews.

They mention him as a prominent figure in the game... he's also in the games opening cutscene

Think they're referring to his physicality, rather than mannerisms in the trailer.

Oh, sure. Voice and likeness, I meant.

I can't picture Terry Crews as a badguy.

I mean...

CRACKDOWN 1 SPOILER (I know it's an old game, people are dumb)

Being a playable character and being the actual bad guy DOES have precedent. That was sort of the ending twist in a nutshell.

They mention him as a prominent figure in the game... he's also in the games opening cutscene

Doesn't get more prominent than the Agent themselves!

Is that the actual city you're in or some kind of VR training city? If thats the actual city then...oh boy...that looks bland as fuck. Nothing like the first two.

This makes me wonder if you've ever played a Crackdown game. I'm being somewhat facetious, but it really does sound like you're not familiar with them.

Really? It looks quite similar to the first one to me. Anyway, that's essentially the 'financially challenged' area of a city that's twice as large as the previous two. That's the area that the demo was limited to. Other areas that they've mentioned are a more affluent area with a large casino (and race track), as well as countryside/farmland. I don't know if you watched it or not, but I'm pretty sure they talk more about it in the YouTube video.

Put about 300 hours into both. Not that it answers my question.

It's a closed-off section of the city at night that they're demoing for press at E3. There's some daytime gameplay as well. There haven't been signs its a training sim. They've described a few other zones, but mostly they're under wraps.

The city does look quite a bit better during the day if it helps. Find some of the twitch/Xbox Daily footage, I've been watching it and slowly coming around.

Great to hear!

This is good news, as the trailer at the Microsoft press conference did nothing to pique my interest:
-they didn't show live gameplay but just a bunch of random jump cuts of potential gameplay
-they showed hardly any massive destruction, nothing like that skyscraper demolition we saw last year
-we needed IGN to confirm that a massive celebrity would be playable since they didn't even show him clearly playable.

I hope there's a special unlockable ability where you can (as Mr. Crews) extend your arm around the Earth and punch someone from the other side of the screen.

Cool. Initially i disliked him because I am not the fan of the commercial. But then, when I saw him on You Tube and in some interviews I realized that the guy is actually very self conscious and surprisingly nice.
