I'm currently looking into tape drives for long term storage anyways. The only SSD I need is for the OS. I used to wait 30min-1hr to play a mission in Wing Commander 3, so anything modern is a cakewalk.
I think it's just simpler to deal with a couple of near-permanent tapes than dozens of Blurays I have to keep updating as media gets bigger. Much of my library is redundancy, since I can't guarantee when my storage may give up the ghost.
If you're talking about the write lifespan of the drive, it's 3D Xpoint can take 10x more writes than NAND. Plus, individual bits can be written, rather than having to write whole blocks.
