Aonuma to the Research and Development Team: "Make me a console, that will push the Zelda graphics.". <3 lool
Wait...Great idea! Just imagine, Aonuma to the Zelda team: "You are fired, we are going to hire people who are actually capable of taking advantage of our hardware to create games with great graphics and controls that work well."
this thread is already dead.
Why? Nintendo's operating performance is still poor and a lot of the issues discussed in this thread are from being resolved?
Then make a new thread to discuss it that doesn't purport to be about Iwata's resignation?
Not really.this thread is already dead.
At an analysts' meeting on the 31st, Nintendo President Satoru Iwata (53) implied that there is a possibility that he may resign if he is unable to achieve 100 billion yen (US$1.09963 billion) in operating income for the next fiscal year.
I suppose that "resign" means something else in Japan. :lol
Iwata is not responsible for the business performance of Nintendo? That's surprising.
Then make a thread with that as the subject line and continue discussing it, by all means.

If he had any honor in him, he would resign instead of trying to hold on to every last drop of internet glory.
He bought himself some time. Nothing more.
man, i like to think i'm better than the usual "salty tears" rebuttal
..i like to think this
What's changed? This is just shuffling the deck chairs on the Titanic. Every problem they had yesterday still exists today.

little early for me to say, but honestly, the confidence/near-certainty that you and some others have said in thread after thread that he's the worst thing ever & surely they'll be done with him soon...it's pretty funny seeing the opposite here
i do hope he's more effective in this position, though. again NOA has been such a useless mess that some real leadership/coordination could help tremendously, and they have to realize that much greater efforts need be made in other regions, especially here
1. There are far worse things than Satoru Iwata. He's just a bad CEO who mistakenly believes he understands the gaming industry.
2. I grew up on Nintendo products and I want to see them survive in some form into my old age. For that to happen they need new management, and the sooner the better. Nothing has changed. In fact, the situation is now worse, as he's taken on even more responsibility. It's a shame, and nothing to be celebrated.
But..
I thought GAF was never wrong.
This makes me question other things GAF has predicted.

.This means shit.
I like the fact that Iwata wont resign but somehow, it would have been cool if this guy was the new CEO.

Guys, just becuSe he's given himself a promotion doesn't mean everything is a-ok and he's got shit on lock down.
That's like hitlers gonna win the war cos he's declared himself king of Kansas.
This means shit.
He'll be gone in 12 months if Nintendo knows what's good for them!
This apparent blessing might just mean he'll have to fall on two swords rather than one a year from now. This thread in light of the news.
You do realise that the investors vote to make him CEO?
You do realise that the investors vote to make him CEO?
And funny. I cant find the resignation thingy people talk about in the official Nintendo transcript of the January financial meeting... (You know, the only one that actually counts)
Remember, Iwata's goal is to reach 100 billion yen in operating income between 4/1/2013 and 3/31/2014, not the term that just ended. If you thought there was any implication/possibility of Iwata stepping down now, you must not have read Q7/Q8 here: http://www.nintendo.co.jp/ir/en/schedule/index.html

Hitler comparisons are probably the worst thing to do when you are trying to make a valid point.

So basically this means he never really implied he would step down right?
