I have a feeling this game is going to be buried by Mario Kart 8: Deluxe and Puyo Puyo Tetris, all coming out in the same weekend. Being $5 might do the trick though.
It's an inexpensive throwback game with a nice art style on a Nintendo console from a well-known publisher/developer to the fan base. It'll do well for itself.
Circle isn't an all eggs in one basket type of publisher either. They flood the eShop with games (they have since the DSi days) which range from middling to fantastic--it's a good mix of original content and ports of well-known mobile phone games from variety of genres. They also understand how to constantly have a portion of that catalog on sale.
They're good at what they do.
