I'll download the demo, but honestly I don't think that formula (extremely simplistic 2D action game) can be turned into something fun. The Dishwasher 1/2 and Bloodrayne were much, much better.
From what I've seen of those games don't really seem any more deep to me than Shank 2. In fact I think Bloodrayne seems very, very similar.
